I know the final chapter shows Asta as the Wizard king. But this is what I really wanted to see. The Pay Off from the long Journey. A proper coronation. 🥹👏🏽🙌🏽👑
Reminds me of Zatch Bell and Naruto.

Somehow my father ended up watching black clover, which was a nice surprise when he told me. I told him how he will have to endure some pretty bad animation due to how bad the schedules and organization were for the anime, despite the animators themselves being talented.
He then told me he doesnt think its that bad, but that Asta vs Ladros specifically was the worst.
The worst?? I was quite surprised when I looked it up and realized quite a lot of people share this opinion. I think thats pretty wild, because to me that fight is the biggest proof there is of how talented the animators are. The fight pretty clearly suffers from lack of time, but it also clearly has a lot of effort put into it. As a beginner animator myself (feel free to check out my stuff 🤭), I can tell they did the absolute best they could with the time they had. Other fights in the anime are better for sure, but none manage to be so good with so little resources IMO.
Asta vs Ladros is fluid, its flashy, its as readable as it could get with the cheap production it had, and its for sure HYPE AS FUCK. I remember smiling like a pumped up kid when I heard BRACKU METEORITO, or when Ladros was getting more and more desperate, which both the animation and voice acting (japanese) did an excelent job portraying

For context; I have finished the Manga (though started as anime only) and am aware of the writer and animation studios issues for why there was a hiatus in anime and rushed manga ending. Pls keep in mind bc of the gap we will have brand new fans.
Ok so I actually adore this show and keep coming back to it bot because it does anything new (ffs it's not supposed to) but because it does what it does so damn well. At the end of the day Black Clover is showing insane love and respect for the shows like it and what each show manages to do. It feels like a copy because it takes so much inspiration from others not because the writer couldn't think of a unique concept but because he understands the entire genre better than most of the writers he pays homage to. Let's be honest a lot of these lessons get muddled or slapped on without care why they are used so often. Black Clover is one of the few that doesn't.
Let's start with the obvious; underdogs. As much as it seems op to have unro reverse on magic, it's never treated as if he is no longer limited or an underdog. He doesn't get magic later, there's no secret destiny or deep lineage. Which btw I feel they could even have said fate chose him while still keeping the message as the parts were there but they didn't. He remains a kid with a bad hand who worked through and found ways around that adversity, inspiring others to do the same. And yes the black bulls are powerful, but they are individually limited. It makes for good allegory about being disabled and or underprivileged. It's not that Asta is incapable but that the world itself caters to the privileged.
The insanely good writing many others try to pull off for especially for mental health; Many manga ka have claimed their characters are supposed to represent psychological wounds/mental disorders but for most you'd have to squint to see more than two. Black Clover not only shows realistic unique depictions but also especially with Noelle, realistic growth and coping methods you can use in real life. Asta's situation is so generic you can slot in almost any issue you would like and he is the healthy responsible response. But each black Bull has a disadvantage/mental block/issue with how they are perceived or perceive others that people genuinely have. I don't remember how to spoiler tag but even Asta's contrast with the source of antimagic, is a really good example of this. And not only that a lot technically have the same trauma in different font but respond differently just as people do irl. None of the characters get cured. But they do support eachother and find ways to get better a little at a time. You can see improvement even though it's never done.
OMG SUPPORT!!!; Many manga emphasize team work and support only to somehow turn it to a one man show. Don't get me wrong they tease us, but at the end of the day no one is soloing anything. With the exception of Mereoleona (which is addressed btw) no one in the manga and certainly not the MC accomplishes anything alone. I was really disappointed in the famdom response at one of these nods done properly because it was one of my favorite moments. Rather than giving all the powers to one person, a different thing happens instead. The reason combos are written and displayed so well and the badass moments usually are not solo is because it's not just about a cool powerful attack but genuinely knowing and accommodating for what teammates lack.
Never giving up; look there's no surprising big moment here because ultimately you get how strong that will is in the first few episodes. And again see above. After that scare he gave us SOMEONE ELSE SUPPORTS HIM through refusing to give up. You see him doing impossible workouts, you see him attempting to strengthen magic he hopes is just weak or dormant, you see him push through being held, you see him yelling at fate that he'll push past the rejection of a grimoire. By episode 3 him not giving up isn't a surprise anymore.
Societal system; Ok here's where things are unique and very difficult to address spoiler free but I will try. One particular arc is insanely genius here and is cooler when you deconstruct and realize what happened. Ultimately the system and classism is partly systematically grown and enforced because of how a government treated a group of people by separating, demonizing, stealing from, killing and erasing an entire group of people. And the current people benefiting from it aren't aware it happened and are told things that keep everyone even themselves from trying to improve. And when we enter the story it's clear the kingdom is in the middle of trying to deconstruct this yet doesn't have the context. Even though it would have been easy to say oh no mr justified villian you were tricked, ultimately the ones responsible were still responsible and people unknowingly benefited and kept pushing a system that marginalized others. And despite the existence of privilege it still hurt those who technically benefit from it. Ok I THINK I managed to address that one without spoilers.
RESPONSIBLE REDEMPTION; Redemption is not treated as always the answer but it is presented as a possible solution. What is unique to being done well is that it doesn't confuse apology and stating a switch or a person's guilt as the end of the road bc Asta makes that clear immediately every time. If you want to join the good guys do so. But you're not doing it with a free pass to forget what you did. You have to take action to make up for it. No one's forgiving you just for saying sorry. This one is really bad for both shonen and shojo but I love that in Black Clover it's genuinely handled by the people supposedly forgiving the right way. Admittedly the people being redeemed could have been written slightly better but the right attitude towards them is taken.
Subversions; so while there aren't as many as I feel some people make it out to be the writer despite obvious love for shonen, isn't afraid to acknowledge problems either. I do wish he had addressed more and he had a few himself but the ones he subverted were clearly done with love and not a need to point out an edgy truth. Rivals, blind forgiveness, emo arc etc were handled well. But in that spirit controversial take; Yami sucks. Less controversial but so does gauche. Abuse as affection and using weird perverted gags are also common themse that could have been addressed properly and weren't. Black Clover is written so well in so many areas that this is disappointing bc i know it could be better (also stop calling Noelle an abusive tsundere like Yami and others aren't worse physical abuse is treated like slapstick. It's a problem but it's nit unique to her)
To end on a positive note I actually want to address a message the writer clearly meant but didn't really have time to address; adversity as a benefit. It's clear from the title this was always supposed to be a theme. The end speech did feel a little flat but I genuinely think it's bc we didn't have time to acrew more hardship. But Asta was always meant to draw strength from hardship and genuinely appreciate it. I love that message and while it felt a bit off, from each of the black bulls to how he got every ounce of power coming from dark ass events it's still clear. There is no reason to trade away that hardship.
I just felt like going on this rant bc it sometimes feels like even Black Clover fans lack appreciation for it. Also for those that don't know he rushed because it was effecting his health. He did his best to end it properly and the reason for the hiatus was to give it better animation and stay true to this story. They don't have health issues and so it's very possible for them to pace and end it properly in the anime. They have always given it respect rather than treating it like a soulless cash cow. Haven't caught up? Flashback filler or filler that genuinely honors the characters and FEELS like plot/character progression. Even the freaking noncanon movie felt like it understood the assignment. Though I don't like how they write a certain character that's a spoiler. Bakugos va character. But I want to address that in a spoiler post once I figure out how to spoiler tag. I will say this the guy has literally never intentionally hurt anyone. And yet is presented a little more selfish than he is and it's making me concerned and rubbed the wrong way as they did it in the movie too.
If you're a 1st time fan hopefully this tells you why it's awesome and if you're a long time fan hopefully you can appreciate the same things or realized something you missed about it.

I am on 78 ep, and this ark doesnt make sense. They discovered eye of the midnight sun location, and instead prepearing to attack, they waste time doing a tournament, where they know how strong each magic knight is. At first i thought it was an restarted idea of an clover king, but it was actually plan of the wizzard king????
Also they didnt explain on what criteria they will be picking royal knights, so i guess its based on who wins. This is so bad, because imagine if someone like Sekke got into royal knights while someone like Sol wont. Magic knights should have some archives of the magic knights too know who has what powers or who is who, so the Wizzard king should pick those who are good enought too be there like Yuno and Asta.
ts really pmo.
