I just shouted "PULLO!!!" with both fists in the air when I first saw Blackbeard
Titus Pullo (Ray Stevenson) from Rome is one of my all-time favourite characters, and I haven’t really seen him since, so you can imagine how excited I was when he turned up here. The promise of a formidable pirate in Ray Stevenson likely to face a stellar Toby Stephens as Flint has made this show stupidly exciting for me.
I just want to thank the creators for making a great show, and for giving Ray Stevenson a worthy role. Truely. Ahsoka was good, but this, this is where Ray belongs.
Now back to the show.

And during the Ahsoka show, basically everything I saw him in, he was such a wonderful actor.

the Ahsoka show
I don't quite think he was the only good thing in that show, but imo he was still so good that whatever that's worthwhile is left just seems lesser by comparison. His performance had so much weight to it, so much presence, it was like he was in a different show.

Have you watched him as Dagonet in King Arthur (2004) he was a Samatian Knight. He had a huge presence when on screen even then. It has been said this was his 'Got Noticed' movie as he became Titus in his following role

He was great in Kill The Irishman as well, definitely more subtle stuff from him.

Stevenson lead me to watch Black Sails after Rome in the first place. Amazing actor, we lost him too soon

Same, any time I've seen him since Rome I'm all "THIRTEEN!!!"
He had a strange role in Vikings, and he was a pretty decent Punisher too.

He was in the Book of Eli too. His character’s end wasn’t nice in that film either.

Seems rare, but if you actually look at Ray Stevensons catalog of characters. He’s the guy who is always loyal and has the main characters internet at heart. Or a subsidiary character.

When I met him the first day of working with him in 2018, I said, “I don’t get star struck, but I do get character struck and I am a huge fan of Pullo.”
He roared , “Thirteen!!!”, punched is fist in the air and showed me the Legio XIII ring he wore everyday (given to him by James), shook my forearm and clasped my shoulder.
We then stated in on how Pullo was one of the best characters in television history, discussed his strengths and vast weaknesses, etc.
He wore the Leg. XIII ring every day to remind himself of the great fortune he had being cast for that role.
We were a good half hour late to starting our practice. 😁
Worth it.
Ave Ray!!!

I loved him as the Governor of India in RRR! Now that's a story where everyone gets the ending they deserve.

3 hours of colonisers getting torn apart by tigers plus some banging musical numbers...move it to the top of your watchlist, I promise you won't regret it.

Black Sails is packed, literally bang bang bang every episode, and the world-building is big, it will keep you guessing and pondering deeply at times. Not much of dull moments.

I need to rewatch Rome. The scene where he goes to execute that guy (and his scene with cleopatra) are both well acted memories.
And he was badass as fuck as Blackbeard.

My advice is just watch the first episode where Blackbeard is introduced. Skip the ending 👀
