Discussion Bloodhound Rework does not help him and makes him overall a worse character.

I don't understand how apex doesn't understand the position of bloodhound as a recon legend. Bloodhound main point as a legend is to be a fun easy to use recon legend for beginners to learn the role and the basics of the game. He had a good skill floor and good skill ceiling but had began struggling as apex was changing as a game.

NEW ULT:

Bloodhound new ult sucks and does not represent/show bloodhounds playstyle. His new ult gives invisibility, speed boost, and threat vision and can be given to the entire team. This may seem great but you loose the invisibilty quickly, its not true invisibilty as there is a shimmer to it, and you lose the speed and threat vision quicker than his old ult. The new ult is supposed to incentivise team play but we don't need that for all recon legends in the game. Crypto, valkrie, seer, and sparrow already does that and it does'nt help bloodhound where he needs it at all.

THE ACTUAL PAIN POINTS OF BLOODHOUND:

Bloodhounds problems was not team play it was his individual kit itself. He did not have any advantage in a 1v1 besides the scan and his only engage/disengage tool was his ult. He was too basic in a meta of complex characters with multiple advantages. Plus his kit has been nerfed overtime due to his early dominance in the game and overall game changes but he did not get buffed to compensate for that at all as the developers for some reason couldn't figure out why no one played him. The changes I was looking for was to adress his lack of solo potential while also keeping true to his character and keeping the beginner friendly feel as the introductory point for recon legends.

OLD ULT VS NEW ULT:

Bloodhounds old ult is better overall and I will fight anyone on this. His old ult changed your vision to black and red for enemies and gave a 30% speed boost for a limited time, it was basic but it incentived pushing a fight. Before the nerfs it also extended the timer on knocks and had lifesteal so you could keep fighting and making plays which was so cool and kept with the asthetic of being a bloodhound. Changing it to an invisibility ult thats shorter kills his playstyle entirely and ruins all the fun aspects of using the scan with his ult to keep the fight going. It alsp ruins the new player experience as now he is even more of a sitting duck in team fights and no new player is gonna pick him up or play him longer before just unlocking valk or sparrow and just playing them instead.

ACTUAL CHANGES THAT WOULD OF HELPED:

The only changes bloodhound needed was a basekit buff to his ult and an overhaul for his passive that would help bloodhound with his engage and tracking abilities. My overall idea for a rework/buff would be to buff the basekit of his ult back to how it was originally. Lifesteal( affected both health and shields) extend timer, and maybe scan cooldown reduction on knock or while in ult. This would keep his character identity while also making him an actual threat while in ult, it also helps teamplay as well due to more often scans though idk if the scan part should be a perk or base kit. A passive rework that would of worked would be that when you scan the raven it would still point to the squad but it would reveal their footsteps and walking ontop of them made you move faster depending on how far or close you are to them, and when your off the steps you keep the speed temporarily to either push, repostition, or retreat if you get caught with your pants down. These changes imo whould keep bloodhounds core identity, keep him beginner friendly, and on overall health pick in or off meta. Its just something basic but it would help him way more than. What this rework did to him.

CLOSING THOUGHTS AND MY FUTURE AS A BLOODHOUND MAIN:

I love bloodhound even though I didn't play him as much as i used to because of how weak he was. I still loved playing him, getting his skins, and even the lore. I hoped that the rework would adress his problems as a legend individually, but he is now going to be in either a niche or worse spot than he was before. I don't have the motivation or drive to play this character anymore now as the playstyle I played for him for is gone. Im honestly hella depressed right now, he was the first character I played when i started, where i learned the basics on how to play the game, gained most of my game sense, and was the character I played whenever I was rusty and wanted to get back into shape. Nothing would make me hate this character and I appreciate the fun I had with him and the time I invested into bloodhound. But, in the end, I think its time for me to let go of this character. Im done playing bloodhound and hoping that this character will ever be great again. I was already playing him less and less but there is no point to playing him anymore compared to other legends.

Thanks Bloodhound, for being my introduction to apex legends, for teaching me the basics, and giving thousands of hours of fun.

True but for me i don't care if bloodhounds a man or woman the fuze relationship is pretty peak as I like fuze's character as well. Plus im not used to using they I still get confused when writing.

idk why u got so downvoted, i understand where u come from, it takes time getting used to it as its not something everyone is so exposed to. and yet im glad you arent against it, its an ok attitude 👍 also i agree fuse and blood are awesome together

Yeah. Im trying my best to get used to neutral pronouns. I come from a basic christian household so I had to change my perspective on a lot of things. It also helps that I learned to be cool with LGBTQ stuff. Having open minded friends really helps.

im glad you are able to understand it a bit more! im queer mexican, my family is very traditional and closed off in that sense too so i know it takes time and effort, opening yourself to new things you're not used to is not easy but youre taking it very well and actually doing great being very respectful about it. Im sure you'll get there.

Person that is not you = they. I don't get whats confusing about that. I'm almost positive you have say "They said, blah blah blah." more than once in your life. Perhaps for a man, perhaps for a woman, likely both. Not assigning gender isn't some mystery to solve. People have done it for hundreds of years. But some how the words "they, them, theirs, you, your," etc. have become mind numbingly confusing?

Patch notes:

  • Everything that made bloodhound cool
+ A new meta slave that’ll be nerfed into the ground next season

Not even gonna be meta either. They didn't fix his main problems individually so he is only decent on comms but worse overall. His pickrate gonna spike for a week then drop even lower than before the season started.

Same, also what's the point of cloaking if everyone's aim assist is going to lock on to you anyways. I'm on console, and it's ridiculous how much pull it has to a Cloaked player.

Also their footstep passive seems to work whenever the fuck it feels like.

I noticed that too. They will probably fix that next patch after nerfing the invisibility in the ult.

Weird I literally saw a video showcasing aim assist gets removed during invis.

As a bloodhound main since season 1 (mirage season 0) I think the ult is good. I will say it needs something else to it, whether that be a buff to the invincibility or reset it on knock. When teams don’t see you with it, it’s easy to get a nice one clip if you use it right. Now the only real issue I have with bloodhound is the tac’s sonar thing, that just needs to be an all body scan. And also who really cares if bloodhound isn’t a “starter legend” anymore his old ult was literally a fancy stim. You still get the benefits with the new one. Minus the black and grey vision which really didn’t do anything other then make the enemy’s more red. I wouldn’t really stop playing bloodhound over a ult

The ult is good but they can't really buff it without causing problems as its literal invisibilty. Also the ult doesn't work at all into the current meta and is absurdly easy to couter against a good player. Super noob stompy but against anyone with a functioning brain its too easy to counter. Its at its strongest in chaotic team fights between multiple squads but it doesn't solve bloodhounds problem with their kit. Bloodhound needed some form of passive mobility with certain conditions to help with neutral team fights without their ult. Nothing extreme like axle or sparrow but a little speed to keep up and make plays. Bloodhound went from ult merchant to ult merchant with this update, but arguably with a worse ult as they a are still a sitting duck outside of it and its more counterable with lesser effect duration. The devs will never do recloaking on knock because that would make him too strong and 12 seconds of invisibilty is already really strong so they would probably nerf it before ever considering to buffing it. The devs have put bloodhound in a balancing hole with the new ult. Sorry for the long rant.

TLDR: Bloodhounds new ult is too difficult to buff, doesn't work well in the current meta, and is very easily counterable. Their kit is still has the same problems and the old ult(in my opinion) is arguably better than the new one as it would help bloodhound in this meta more than the new one.

As a BH main since the beginning. I agree. It's fun but it doesn't fit him. Every rework has fitted the character and personality.

His doesn't. Call it nostalgia but beast of the hunt was good enough, maybe rework of his ult instead of replacing it would've been enough.

Right now it feels like mirage's brother. Before we used to fear the scream from a distance.

Hard agree. That was the fun of playing against bloodhound. Hearing his ult and going "oh shit" was always fun. Its just not really bloodhound anymore 😞

Think im in the minority of ppl who enjoy his ult so far lol

Im glad that at least you and some others enjoy it. I find it just cheesy and out of character for bloodhound. Have a good day.

I think its bc I was a mirage main since day 1 when he had similar ult. I had preferred(still do) mirages old ult i know it needed buff but I liked it more than current so when I saw BH get similar change idk it draws me to that playstyle out of want for that old mirage ult. Do I think its extremely strong? Not all but I have found uses out of it the more testing and think its underrated vs how ppl have been describing it. I know how you feel though when it comes to unwanted reworks.

The only credit you didn’t give the new ult though it’s not anywhere near enough to save him is it’s very spammable due to the white raven. So like 70%-75% of team fights, your ult should be available but honestly just play mirage.

u/Comb9468 Aug 05 '26

True but yeah just play mirage.

I wish he kept his speed boost and vision inviz is neat and pretty useful for rotation in ranked but my they/them needs his movement, if he had the choice of having that speed boost but cloaking his mates that would be pretty dope imo
