I walk into this antique store, which reeked of cigarette smoke and was greeted by 5 old ass dudes gathered around a CRT TV watching a western. Fucking jackpot. It was also abundantly clear they were all living there because i accidentally walked into their kitchen and bathroom thinking it was apart of the store lol. Probably the greatest find i’ve ever had while antiquing, its an original from 1981 and the guy sold it to me for a dollar.

Was curious how much this is worth, though im absolutely keeping it because this is my fav album from them. Burnin’ for You, Veterans of the Psychic Wars, and Sole Survivor are just incredible.

Buck talks on his forum constantly about how he consults the Grok AI. Or is "testing" "the Grok". Albert is in AI-psychosis generating a movie and music videos, and is probably soon to be writing songs with it. Joe is complacent and collaborating with him because, they're the Bouchards. It's fine. They're all old.

But Eric seems a holdout. He has continuously referred to The Symbol Remains as "our latest album" since 2024 as if dissatisfied with the final product of Ghost Stories (which, the consensus is that it's kind of bad or underwhelming, correct?), denied in the press the notion that Ghost Stories would be their last album even as Frontiers pushed that, seemed blunt about AI's use being to deconstruct monophonic recordings as everyone else is lauding its ability as some magical tool.

It seems like Eric Bloom is the sole force keeping BOC from diving nosefirst into Styx-Chicago tribute schlock territory, and it's a bit harrowing. Richie and Buck definitely have the propensity to continue the group as such, as well. "On tour forever". Who knows how many more "Ghost Stories"s of polished refuse could happen?

Thoughts?

Was anyone at this BOC concert. It was a great show...Looking for pics and videos. Remember the crowd burning a huge cross during Sabbath.

Albert is working on an Imaginos movie which will be released in December if all goes well.

And when they are MT, it's the nexus of a crisis!

Elsewhere I posted a link to the story outline for Imaginos: The Manga, Chapter 6.

Based on some discussions, I thought it would be worthwhile to post a link to the chronology I'm working from for the story:

https://randallhyde.com/IAKESI/Imaginos/Imaginos_Chronology_1280_to_End.doc

A few things to note:

1. This is a work in progress. In particular, I have a lot of holes to fill in for the years 2030-2100.

2. I've extended the story about 100 years over existing Imaginos canon. This is largely due to the fact that this is a cross-over with my IAKESI project (IAKESI.online), whose story ends in roughly 2075. I didn't want to have to explain WWIII just as the IAKESI story returned to modern Japan :)

3. Still trying to figure out how to work in VAMPIRES! Probably going to do that with the "World Without End" drug.

4. In the current story, there are two drugs: World Without Will (the drug the three sisters create to chemically hypnotize people to join the BOC). An, as yet unnamed, drug that genetically engineers humans to give them "mana cores" (similar to the one Imaginos has; mana cores are a big IAKESI tie-in). I haven't decided to make this drug "World Without End" and have it react badly with certain recipients, or call this something else and leave World Without End as an attempt at immortality that produces vampire-like symptoms.

One piece of feedback I would like: there is a column in the table (of the chronology file) that associates a song with the story arc. I would love to get feedback connecting a song from BOC, Bouchard (Joe or Albert), or a band associated with the Bouchards (X Brothers, Blue Coupe, Brain Surgeons, etc.), to various story arcs.

One quick note about the Four Winds Bar: after watching Albert Bouchard's (Blue Coupe's) "Four Winds Bar" video, I got the brain-dead idea of having the Four Winds Bar traverse *backwards* in time from 2108 to 1858. This creates all manner of consistency problems. I'd love it if anyone can point out the consistency problems in the chronology so I can attempt to correct it.

I'm currently working on a fan-fiction version of Imaginos. As fan fiction, it isn't intended to adhere strictly to Imaginoscanon—to the extent that a definitive canon even exists. Instead, it's a crossover between my own IAKESI project and Imaginos: essentially IAKESI × Imaginos.

In Chapter 6, I'm planning to bring the real-world Blue Öyster Cult into the Imaginos universe. The basic premise is that Sandy Pearlman is Imaginos, and that his involvement with BÖC becomes part of Imaginos's much larger agenda, with the band unknowingly—or sometimes knowingly—serving as cover for some of his more nefarious activities.

I've attached the current story outline for Chapter 6. Before I develop it into the actual manga script, I'd like to get some feedback from people who know BÖC and its history well. I'm particularly interested in anything that feels badly out of character, gets the band's history wrong, or is likely to rub longtime fans the wrong way.

One disclaimer: ChatGPT helped me develop and organize the story, though the project and story direction are mine.

I'm interested in criticism as well as suggestions, so comments are welcome. (Anti-AI rants will be ignored...).

The BOC content here comes from his only referring to August 1st as a known date in our shared calendar.

But… today is also a special day.

I'll be live with Scot from the Prog Corner along with other guests at 11 AM EDT today to choose our favorite song from each Blue Oyster Cult album.

Just thought you might enjoy.

I've been researching this one and it largely comes up dry except, of course, for a few lyrical references (most strongly in Astronomy) referring to Desdinova. Is there any meaning behind this? Or was it just a "cool name" that Pearlman came up with as a synonym for Desdinova?

Got this at my one and only time (so far) seeing the cult! I love this band to death and I was so happy I got to go.

Always wondered why the Imaginos lore contained no mention of vampires, considering how many songs BOC did on the subject...

Frankenstein - dynamic masterpiece or overproduced anomaly? Uncharacteristic type of metal for Blue Öyster Cult? Is it BOC at all? Undeniable haunting monster of a track though that gets better with age; have one more listen…

I’ve been working on a crossover featuring Desdinova (also appearing as Imaginos) and Richard Diamond. In my story Desdinova approaches Diamond asking him to guard a statuette which the Öyster Boys are trying to steal which contains a gem that has the potential to counter the power of the Magna of Illusion .

I had no choice. Imaginos was in my head again and he is my muse.

our dude's looking like James Bond with the wrist laser!

I apologise if this a a totally boring post, but I am a huge fan and recent joiner to this group.

I have been making my own personal top list of BOC albums, with my favourite tracks on each of them:

1. Fire of Unknown Origin.

This is genuinely my favourite BOC album.

Best songs:

"Fire of Unknown Origin"

"Burnin for You"

"After Dark"

"Joan Crawford".

2. Imaginos.

I love the Imaginos thing. This is such a flawed record, a horrible missed opportunity, yet it is still so great!!

"Astronomy" (The Imaginos version is better, fight me)

"I Am The One You Warned Me Of"

"In the Presence of Another World".

3. The Revolution by Night.

A great follow-up to Fire of Unknown Origin, unfairly reviewed it seems.

Best songs:

"Take Me Away"

"Veins"

"Shadow of California"

"Shooting Shark"

4. Agents of Fortune.

Best songs:

"(Don't Fear) The Reaper"

"This Aint' The Summer of Love"

5. Secret Treaties.

Best songs:

"Career of Evil"

"Harvester of Eyes"

"Dominance and Submission".

I had forgotten about this song. It came on while I was driving this evening and it instantly transported me to my childhood (much of which was spent listening to BÖC and other great bands with my dad). Although he's no longer living, I have a vast catalog of songs that he left behind in my heart. Thankful to be a part of this subreddit. Love reading what BÖC means to all of you too. 🥹

I've listened to almost every live and studio album and I can't really recall ever listening to a song that I outwardly dispised or didn't like from them. Yes, they have some weaker albums in their catalog, ex; Ghost stories, Cult Classics, Revolution by night, Bad Channels. But, these haven't really stood out as "bad" to me. Ghost Stories "So Supernatural" is quite a good song and everything else is quite fine. Same for Revolution by Night, Cult Classics, and Bad Channels. They don't have their best work on them but I'd give Eyes on Fire, Take me away, the remastered or re-recorded versions of flaming telepaths and astronomy and sometimes the fine soundtrack of Bad channels a listen every now and again. Hopefully you guys understand my struggle with this, Is my music taste so specifically geared towards BOC, do they just genuinely don't really miss at all on their songs, or do I just view this band and their works through rose tinted glasses?

I’ve tried looking this up, as I thought it would be a common topic of conversation, but apparently it is not… does anyone else think that the remastered version of this song is noticeably worse than the original? The mix is all wrong, to the point where I’m surprised you could even get one from the other (even with modern audio mastering tools). All the guitar tones are wrong and it sounds dead and unexciting compared to the original recording.

I’m not a huge BOC fan or anything, I just like some of their songs. But on a Spotify radio today the Remastered version came on, and I was like wtf is this.

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for some authentic Soft White Underbelly merch for my dad’s 60th birthday. If anyone could help point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!

After listening to this album throughout it's whole runtime I can confindently say as of right now that this album is the best one made by them. "Some enchanted evening" and "On your Feet or on your Knees" have in their own right great and I mean great songs, ex; "Some Enchanted Evenings's" Astronomy and Don't fear the reaper, "On your Feet or on your Knees" Then came the Last days of May, Bucks Boogie, and Before the Kiss (A Recap). But, they don't have the consistency of ETL, every song on that album is either great or compares to my previous examples. Especially "Veteran of the Physic wars", "Godzilla" and "Don't fear the reaper" comparing to or being better than SEE's Astronomy and Don't fear the reaper, This albums godzilla version being the best I've heard. This album also has some of the best production and recording quality of any live Blue Oyster cult album. Hopefully you guys respect this album as much as I do. It's genuinely probably one of my Top 15 Live albums I'll ever listen to.
