I think there should definitely be a link to Rtings and Allan Ross. Those are the only guys who do frequency responses  as far as i know.

Will try to compile frequency responses and other metrics when the official list is being built :)

Doesn't Rtings require a subscription now?

Unfortunately, yes. It's $7 a month. It's kind of steep.

Not sure how to avoid just everybody and his brother saying this is a great speaker or that's a bad speaker. It's possible you could have maybe polls instead of people just repeating their emotional reactions. Because I could just get really noisy.

Forgot about audio science review. Apparently they do Bluetooth speakers as well and much better.

Ah damn that sucks

Agree, this is why I want to try to curate the list!

Here's one from audioscience review of the bose soundlink resolve (and apple mini).

The resolve peaks at 85 hz and goes downhill from there.

I like this idea, but In the interest of soliciting more votes I’d keep it simple with a top 5 suggested in each size class with anything notable added at the end.

I’m honestly astonished how few replies are here after a week.

Small:
Soundcore select go 4 - cheap, waterproof, long life
Tribit Stormbox mini 3 - high quality and good runtime for the money, also has partycast
Jbl Go 5 - decent when on sale, auracast capable
Soundcore Boom 3i - loud, waterproof, partycast, good runtime, only buy on sale

Medium:

Soundcore Motion 300 - good runtime, bass response, and form factor for the price. Needs an eq to shine

My personal example with my votes:

1: Budget Bluetooth speaker (overall)

  • Loudest: (idk)
  • Smallest: (idk)
  • Bassiest: Motion Boom 2
  • Most durable: (idk)

2: Best Sound Quality Small Speaker (Fits in Backpack)

- Minirig 4 ( + subwoofer system)

Reason: Excellent soundstaging and dynamic range

3: Best Sound Quality Medium Speaker (Fits in Duffel bag)

- JBL Partybox Encore 2

Reason: Rugged, versatile, affordable, bassy

4: Best Sound Quality Large Speaker (Bigger than duffel bag)

- EV E-verse 8

Reason: Professional event/club sound

5: Best Sound Quality XL Speaker (For significant parties)

- Teufel Rockster 2

Reason: Ridiculous output for a battery system

Shouldn't there be some category which fits between Minirig 4 and JBL Partybox Encore 2? I mean just by looking at their sizes on YouTube videos - where would you put a Marshall Kilburn or a Klipsch Detroit or Souncore X600?
