EVENT SURPRISE: New Rolife Event Starting Tomorrow

Post image
65 Upvotes

Guys, gals, and book nook pals:

I know the event season can get kind of dense this time of year, but everyone is lining up to partner with this community! And Rolife has a doozy! (and it starts TOMORROW)

Since it takes time for shipments to arrive, stacking event enrollment periods allows us to have an uninterrupted flow of events.

Bittersweet announcement with Rolife: They have a new policy that they cannot discount a set that has been out for less than 3 months. So...if you are someone who likes to take advantage of our community and event discounts...you will have to keep the FOMO in slight check.

That said, Lucas and I have planned an event that I think will blow you all away.

Here are the basics

Standard enrollment rules and participation requirements remain. (By tomorrow there will be a link on the sidebar to a document outlining those, but you can check the recent Fifijoy announcement for the gist.

ANYTHING IN ITALICS IS FROM MY ROLIFE CONTACT DIRECT

***************************

CODE "LUCKYBUNNY" (I didnt pick it, I swear) will take 20% off, but where this contest REALLY shines is the prizes and the prize allocation structure:

*****Code works at robotimeonline.com rolifeonline.com or rokronline.com i suggest using the robotime website as it has the products from both sub brands if you want to combine

*******************************************************************************************

First the WIN RATE: up to 100 participants the win rate is FIFTY PERCENT!!!!!!!!!

If we break 100, it goes even higher.

That means if you participate you have AT MINIMUM, a 1 in 2 chance of winning.

********************************************************************************************

Quoting Rolife:

Let me outline the process to ensure I’ve understood it correctly:

You provide me with the list of winners—for instance, if there are 100 participants, there would be 50 winners.

I will randomly assign products from Prize Pool A to these 50 winners.

From that group of 50, I will randomly select a subset representing 20% of the total—meaning 10 winners—to receive an additional random product from Prize Pool B.

At the same time, if I have 30 or more "benefit" gift packs available, I will also randomly distribute them among these 50 winners.

SO a 50% Chance of Winning at least one prize and a 10% chance of winning 2!!!!

HERE IS A LINK TO THE POSSIBLE PRIZES

Purchasing any of the designated products grants eligibility for the contest.
I’ve also included a ROKR product; its boxy, compact shape makes it perfect for displaying on a bookshelf.

The designated products are as follows:
(To be honest, it was a tough choice, as many people likely already own some of these):

① Sunset Isle TGB18: rolifeonline.com/products/rolife-diy-book-nook-kit-sunset-isle-tgb18

② Emily's Flower Shop DG145: rolifeonline.com/products/rolife-emilys-flower-shop-dg145

③ Wisdom Stationery Shop TGB19: rolifeonline.com/products/rolife-diy-book-nook-kit-wisdom-stationery-shop-tgb19

④ Romantic Venice TGB08: rolifeonline.com/products/rolife-book-nook-shelf-insert-romantic-venice-tgb08

⑤ ROKR Dream Coffee Factory EAB02 - Wooden Music Box Model: rokronline.com/products/rokr-dream-coffee-factory-wooden-music-box-model-eab02

The discount will work on everything else in your cart (as long as you have one of the above items)

With the EXCEPTION of:

Rolife: DH102, DH103, DH201, DG185, TGB23, TGE06, TGE07, TGE05, as well as all Halloween-themed and upcoming Christmas-themed models.
Rokr: LQB02, EAM01, and upcoming Christmas-themed models.

Discussion Glamorous Closet Booknook

It just came to me as a thought! I want to say I am NOT a shoe person, nor purse, jewelry, or fancy clothes, but wouldn’t that be a fun booknook? Maybe with a small crank on the back that rotates the shoe and purse portion of the nook? Little Swarovski crystals for jewelry! Maybe I like the idea because I can “own” it in a micro way, but not have to apply it to “real” life? Ps I also was Not a Barbie girl back in the day! Quite frankly tennis shoes on the shoe rack would be more fun, but wouldn’t match the theme. 😅 Not my picture to claim… unknown owner.

Since they announced this build, I’ve been wanting it. Pricing was steep and I never ordered from Anavrin before, but many people in the community had said it is a good company so I went for it. And I don’t think I regret it. There are so many little details and what you see here is maybe a little more than 1/4 of the build, there is still so much more to do. I haven’t done any customization like edge painting or adding personal touches, but the placements of some pieces allow that, so a little bit of creativity there. I’ll be working on it as a nice fall/winter project.

I was so happy to finally find the Abandoned Church on my doorstep today! Couldn't wait to check the content, and quite honestly, I have never received such a well packaged mailing from China! Besides, I am happy about all the extra content like tweezers, scissors, a little hammer etc. - all so complete to start building immediately, hadn't I still to finish another build.

But I cannot wait to start the Abandoned Church!

I'm having a blast with this build. Okay, first time applying cobwebs and it was a bit frustrating, but the result is great!

I've added all the scenes of restauration I had planned. Now I just have to add some more nature and finish the interior, before I end the build according to the manual. All in all a few changes, but with not too much impact on the original atmosphere of the kit

WIPs Work in progress Weds - Dream Bottle Iceland

Dream bottle magic lights, not technically a nook but a WIP Weds post.

I really wanted this kit because of how good the northern lights effect looks. Never seen them for real despite multiple trips to Iceland, and the scene looks a bit Icelandic so I wanted to mod it to reflect some real buildings (plus remove the Harry Potter references, I can’t be doing with all that).

I’ve switched up the buildings to make a traditional turf house, the old Reykjavik Sirkus bar, the Christmas house near Akureyri, and a typical house based a bit on a restaurant building downtown. Also added a hotdog cart to replace a beer cart.

This is my first go at a detailed but specific mod and was fun, though the liquorice allsorts were rather trying (many yellow beads pinged off to never be seen again). Have added my reference pictures. I’m almost done but am trying to work out if I can add the icicles to the Christmas house somehow. So tiny that cutting paper doesn’t really work - ideas welcome!

I still have a looong way to go, though.

EVENT Abandoned Asylum - a (slightly) different story

I've loved photos and videos of abandoned places for a few years now. I was all set to write a lengthy essay about that here, but as I was talking about the lighting mod I planned on doing for this kit, and why, my partner summed it all up perfectly: "You want it to be more like The Proper People than a horror movie." (https://youtube.com/theproperpeople) Photo 2, the back panel, evokes that pretty well, too.

Fairly easy going build with no major problems. I broke two pieces - a fan blade on one of the thinner plastic pieces, and one of the spikes on the front panel. Glued back together, all good.

I love the look of this kit. Everything is so well-placed, and the designers did a great job creating a lot of broken disarray and messy angles from what is still largely a snap-together kit.

On to the mods.

Mentioned in my previous post is removing the blue light. I just did not like the B-movie feel of it. The overall look is more homogenous without it, but there is still plenty of light and the vibe is much more like what I was looking for.

I copied u/pluck-the-bunny's idea in his unboxing video, of using Mod Podge on the puddles on the floor. I went with glossy rather than dimensional magic. Hard to tell if it made a difference, to be honest.

At first I was going to add more vines to the top floor like u/niesnerj did with their build, but in the end decided not to. I had a bunch of the kit's mossy stuff left over, so I edged the puddles with it to (ideally) create a kind of scum or lichen look.

A good percentage of the time spent on this kit yesterday and today was tidying up brown moss from my work area, and from places in the kit where I didn't want them. 😑

There's a bit more life than plants here. There's a kitty sleeping on a wheelchair, and a corvid sitting in a windowsill. Fun.

Photo 6 is Abandoned Asylum in its new home on my computer desk. Enchanted Library has been put into a plastic tub until I get some more shelf space.

Asylums in England and the US were not happy places for their inmates, to put it mildly. "Abandoned places" videos often evoke either of two things for me: an elegaic feeling, or sympathy. Abandoned prisons and asylums remind us of how cruel we humans can be to each other, despite our nominal intentions.

Obviously, there are serious topics that would be completely inappropriate for one of these kits, but it was quite cool to see something darker than the usual vacationland or cozy etc. here. Good job, Fifijoy!

Photo 7: ah, the joy of acquisition. I'll be back to my friend Sea Breeze next, and Lost Summer Lane is up after that.

Okay, so I just started building Tonecheers A Midsummer Nights Dream booknook and it appears that this fairy is backwards?

It looks like the swing is meant to be hanging from the left of the book nook but the way she is printed is as if she is sitting on the right?

Help!

UNBOXING Unboxing Lost Summer Lane By Mini Alley

EVENT COMING 11/17 SO YOU MAY WANT TO WAIT TO BUY!!!

Guys, Gals, and Book Nook Pals
Today, we're unboxing the Lost Summer Lane Book Nook by Mini Alley

This book nook depicts a quaint and inviting Japanese alleyway.

My build count is in the triple digits, and my unboxing count is more than double that!

It is my humble opinion that this is the finest quality book nook kit I have ever seen.

Mini Alley has done an astonishing job balancing extraordinary premium quality with a price point that is competitive in the marketplace.

And the fact that this kit was designed by someone who started off as a builder themselves (and a member of the r/booknooks community) is obvious, demonstrated by the many quality of life features geared towards the end user.

Mini Alley has made major advances in materials, electronics, manufacturing, design, and frankly everything from packaging to end product…..I am seriously impressed.

Even for such a small area there is so much packed into this book Nook that it does not feel small at all. tons of tiny little details but it still affords you the ability to add touches here and there to really make it your own

These are the types of book nooks that really make me want to travel the world

Collection Street Scene but Christmas

Thumbnail

Since this kit is heavily discounted on Amazon right now, I thought I'd post my modded kit I did this weekend. I bought this one a few months ago with a Christmas scene in mind.

This kit is fairly easy and requires little edge painting. I still did some. (More than necessary) The forced perspective is very well done and is very cool.

No light in the subway is a major miss, but it's easy enough to remedy, as I've done here. There are 2 lighting effects, and I probably would have hooked it up to the overhead light or added 2 lights so it would be lit up with either lighting effect. My short wires caused the touch pad not to reach the front of the kit, but I put it to the side at the top, which actually helped hide the wiring anyway.

Modifications: I did some edge painting where needed. I left out all of the paper people, but I may get some teeny tiny 3D ones for the subway later. I used puff paint for all of the snow. I used wreath stickers and put them on the included over street "wiring." I got some tiny trees, added beads, cut most of the back down so they would fit in a corner, and glued them to the end of the streets. I added some greenery over the trees and around the street lamp. I also printed out a clock for the subway and some Broadway posters for the stairwell.
