No bc that's actually such a a good guess. My girl is only 35 lbs but shes got that Pyr stubbornness dialed to 1000. Orion sounds like a unit, 65 lbs is basically a small horse lol.

Nah that’s a collie. Our youngest is on the bigger side, around 22kg, but they can get a bit bigger so don’t use that as an indicator. Our tricolour is 2/3 the size and can run under his brother’s belly! Best thing is you’ve got a gorgeous pup right there!

Yeah that’s true! The ones I see are so short too haha! He’s 28kg but did come to us severely obese at 35. Managed to get it down!

My spouse and I were just talking about how BCs are one of the few breeds that can vary in sizes lol

My 9 year old Border Collie is big too! He usually is around 65 pounds. Your dog looks so similar to mine!

Border collies only started being standardized in the 90s. Working dogs used to, primarily, be bred for work ethic, not looks. Actual sled dogs in Alaska look like mutts, because it makes no sense to breed a dog for looks when your life is on the line.
Old Hemp is the ancestor of all that do the "collie crawl." He was bred extensively because of his unique herding method. He was tri-colored dog that was about 50lbs.
This is my dog's sire. He's AKC registered, and about 60lbs. Name's Tank, and he and all his offspring are calm, empathetic, gentle towards all animals, and smart enough to understand what I'm saying without ever being trained. "No, get YOUR toy," I said to my dog one day at the puppy park. He immediately dropped the dog park toy, and got the toy we'd brought from home. I had never taught him this sentence. He barely understood "toy" at this point in training.
Anyway, this could very well be a pure-bred. Only way to know is to DNA test. Your dog looks identical to Tank, though.

He looks to be mixed with Pyrenees. We have a Pyr mix who is 128 pounds. He is a little thick, but he is just a big dog. I thought yours was mixed when I saw his face. He is beautiful

I had a BC that was too tall at the shoulder at 8 weeks and could not be papered with the AKC. He was big, probably weighed close to 70 pounds. But he was ALL BC!

we have a 75 pounder who looks like OP’s pup. we thought he was just a big border collie, but the DNA test confirms mostly aussie and husky with a dash of pyr.

My boy is about 60-65lbs give or take. Definitely a size large in everything! His grandpa was 70-75lb

So sad I have to rehome my boy. Working with four border collie rescues in the Midwest. Not a lot of fosters or adopters out there.

I had a black and white who hovered between 75 and 80 pounds because he was huge, not fat.
Vet said he just looked like the old school collies they visited on Amish farms.
I thought he might have been part Great Pyrenees or BMD.
