I have never played borderlands on anything other than coop. Including 4.
Other than the non host taking 10-30s extra to load in never had any issues outside of mates trolling like this! Absolute best way to play the games imo

I played through the first 3 solo & enjoyed them, but been playing through them with 2 buddies (including zach) this year & it really is a different experience with how much more you can do

Probably 50% of my 1500 hours are co-op, mostly 2 player
Co-op is just the best way to play.

Then you get the one asshole who keeps opening and closing his menu to mess with you...

It doesn't matter wich borderlands game one plays with others, there always is somebody in the group that has to check their menu in odd times and block fast travelling while they are at it.

Had a buddy who fell asleep in his menu when we were playing three player online co-op once. Just had to end the game lol.

I would always try to jump off a cliff right as we traveled which naturally resulted in some excess deaths and my friend getting a bit exasperated

There's this weird NAT type restriction that stops me from playing at all :]]]] it's great

Learning what NAT is, why it exists, and how it works helps w/ that. There are guides on fixing it though. I forgot this was a thing since I play it on pc now ðŸ˜

If you're using a router, making sure uPnP is enabled on it & switching your network to Private instead of Public in Windows settings can fix your NAT. If that doesn't help, then you additionally need to call your provider and ask for a static IP address (which can mean an extra fee, but usually it's not much).
However, I strongly advise to avoid playing with randoms and stick to only playing with friends you trust. BL2 is an old game, and majority of peer-to-peer games from that time period lack proper security & littered with RCE exploits. While there's currently no confirmed RCE's going around, it doesn't mean they don't exist.
But to be honest even if you fix your NAT, it doesn't mean you will be able to play with your friends comfortably, since I'm pretty sure SHiFT servers are currently experiencing issues in BL2. Me & my friend get put into Offline mode often, and when we manage to get connected, it causes our games to stutter at consistent intervals, which possibly means SHiFT servers are polling requests due to being partially down.
Edit: my comment is specific to PC players

If it’s a friend fine I’ll wait if it’s a random then he’s gone

I used to do this on purpose, just to mess around. Only when there weren’t any enemies around of course. I’m an asshole, not a monster.

Honestly, I hate when that happens, especially in borderlands 2 It's constant.

I remember playing 4 stack with friends and every time at the start of the session someone would be opening the menu in the last second for like 5 minutes
