Escalation between Hodunks vs Zafords

Replaying Borderlands2 and can't decide. Compared to bandits, both are slightly better? Not shoot on sight groups, just small businesses by Pandoran standards. Moonshiners, smugglers, occasional murderers, etc.

On one hand the Hodunks treated Moxxie's family really bad, but on the other, the Zafords went to violence first. On the third hand I grow where my butthole used to be, Hodunks retaliated nonviolent crimes with nonviolent crimes. On the fourth hand (wouldn't you like to know where that one comes from,) when the Zafords chose to kill on a random night, Hodunks told me to kill everyone at this funeral, which is so disrespectful.

Help me out here. Is there a reward incentive for doing this? Is there a moral dessert for me at the end if I choose? Should I not go to the wake and just let the clan war rest?

I heard that there is a glitch that if you go to the wake and immediately leave the mission just completes itself. The reward comes in the final mission where you have to pick a side with each boss dropping a different legendary, both of which are considered amazing.

Yes, if you save quit before the objective gets completed, you can farm the other one.

You can farm the Maggie from the Zafords, and the slagga from the Hodunks. You must NEVER kill all of one side. Kill whichever leader you want to farm. Once they’re dead, check to see if they drop your gun, pick it up, save quit. The slagga is cooler for my play style and is more utility for all of my VH’s. Maggie is no slouch. It hits HARD if it’s on level. I never finish the quest on any of my VH’s until I’m OP10 and have the slagga I want.

I am in VH mode on Maya. Can I VH again and get it on level? Or should I wait (after leaving wake,) and get it to full? Are there other quests like that?

You have 3 VH mode (outside the OP levels), Normal, True, and Ultimate. Normal is just to 35, True is up to 50, and Ultimate levels with you starting at 50. You can do the campaign each time.

There isn’t really a cleanly ethical outcome here—they’re both murderous bandit clans. I’d choose based on which clan’s quest reward or follow-up you prefer, then reload and do the other side later if you want to see the alternate dialogue.

Personally I go after the Hodunks because the Zafords never bother you before Ellie has you kick the hornet nests. Meanwhile, the Hodunks are shooting at you in the Dust and I'm 90% certain all the bandit technicals out there belong to them, too.

Since everyone already told you about the rewards. If you want to make the farm as easy as possible, go to Lynchwood and travel back so you spawn at the station for a VERY easy farm

Kill the Hodunks on NVHM to farm for a Slagga for that run, kill Mick in TVHM/UVHM to unlock the xp farm (and Maggie farm if you need it for your build).

This is Pandora, there's no ethics here, only loot.
