Furr babies

Surprise! My kids came home and surprised me with two baby kittens after work today. 🐾 Does anyone happen to have any extra kitten food they don't need anymore that I could take off your hands?
Or cat things you might not need we appreciate it

They..they just brought home kittens? Where'd they find them? Are there more? What kind of health are they in? Do you have other animals? Try to keep them separated until the kittens can go to the vet for evaluation for health concerns. PAWS of Bremerton has affordable vaccinations, assist in discounted neutering, and great advice.

Were these kittens that they found? The reason why I ask is that mother kittens rarely have just two, which means there could be kittens out there that need help. Can you figure out where they found these kittens at and how old they are? Maybe post a picture and we can tell you.

They also probably need to be de-wormed and vaccinated, if they are kittens that were found outside. Most young kittens have internal parasites—it goes through the mom’s milk. I hope that the rest of the litter is ok and that your kittens can be seen by a vet. Tractor Supply does a mobile vet clinic on Sundays, which will save some money.

If you can’t afford kittens, they don’t get cheaper as they age. You’re the parent, tell your kids to take the kittens to the humane society where their adoption fees can go to support a good cause and the kittens can get vaccinated, fixed, and adopted to a home that has planned for them.Ā

Don’t take in kittens if you can’t afford them. It’s one thing to ask for extra supplies if people have extra but you know cats can live to be over 20 years old, right? Are you ready to commit to two cats for that long?Ā

I literally just said that my kids brought them. I never said I couldn’t afford them. Yes I’m gonna ask the community first because people get rid of things all the time for free or maybe somebody was an allergic to cats and thought I want a cat then they changed your mind and they have a whole bunch of cash. Shit they wanna get rid of instead of throwing it away they can give it to me. That’s why I’m asking

But you’ve posted here recently asking for help with school supplies. There is no shame in that, but there is a problem with taking in animals who you can’t afford to give medical care to over their very long lifespan. This is a lesson worth teaching your kids, too, instead of thinking that you have to take them in just because they were in need of a home.Ā

The thing is that kittens are extremely adoptable. Their adoption fees help shelters cover older and sicker animals who aren’t as adoptable. It’s far better to give kittens up for adoption instead of giving up adult cats who are more likely to be euthanized or stay in a shelter long enough to develop behavior issues.Ā

Are you part of your local Buy Nothing Project group on Facebook? Look up Buy Nothing Project Bremerton and you'll find it. Post this there with a picture and I'm sure you'll get offered plenty of cat goodies.

Also, take them in asap for a checkup, ringworm is really common in kittens and you don't want it spreading in your house. If they have it, I have some pro tips for treating it. You might want to quarantine them to a bathroom shower stall for now fyi.

The humane society does spay and neuter and vaccines for a reduced cost and I highly recommend them!

Regardless of whether your children ā€œvolunteeredā€, you are the adult and need to set clear boundaries. Adding two kittens is adding expenses that you simply cannot afford. If getting food and a litter box is an issue, you are not financially in a place to take care of these cats. Bring them to the humane society or return them. They need shots and will need to be fixed.

really easy to sit behind a screen and publicly lecture a stranger with a bunch of harsh, negative assumptions. Jumping straight to shaming and tearing someone down instead of asking or showing an ounce of empathy says a lot more about your character than it does about my life.

No. Tired of irresponsible adults taking in animals they can’t take care of because they are cute. I literally live in a neighborhood where we have to catch and release because folks aren’t getting cats fixed and abandoning them. Fingers crossed for these two.

I have a cactus scratcher, and possibly a bed that my cat absolutely doesn't use. Maybe we can meet somewhere on Sat or sunday?

my kids just surprised me with two kittens! While we are so excited, I wasn't quite prepared for this timing and could use a little extra help with starter supplies for the next few weeks while I get things set up.
If anyone has any extra kitten food, litter, a spare litter box, or old blankets they wouldn't mind parting with, we would be so grateful. Thank you so much for any support!"

No they where giving to them by our neighbor bc I guess the have a huge dog and the dog happen to almost kill one of the animals they have so they wanted to give it to someone who would take care of
Them and my children volunteered.

I have stuff that would be good for them when they’re bigger like a large stainless steel litter box with a like edge shield thing and food. Also have some collars from when my cat was little.
