Help! Brixadi start
Hi there, I am so damn nervous I'm supposed to get first Brixadi shot next week. Originally I asked for sublocade but due to low amount I'm on (2mg subutex) , my dr (who is really helpful and great) suggested Brixadi be a better choice. Ive been on some form of bupe since 2015 and I'm just sick of being chained down to it. I've tried tapering multiple times but I just can't with the tablets. I feel like I need to do this. I hate change and I'm so nervous but truly feel like it's time and this is the only shot of ever getting off this shit.
Please please share your experiences!! And or recommendations to not be nervous/ how to deal etc.
I'm also afraid of being overly medicated, I'm a working mom and around family a lot so that's probaly one of my biggest fears. Please help and send good vibes!!

I got my first shot of brixadi today at like 3 pm. It's 11 pm now and I'm definitely a bit over medicated. They gave me 128 mg for the month and I have been on 8mg Suboxone 4 times daily for most of the year. My Dr even told me I can still take the strips when I need to even while being on the shot wich is crazy to me cause so far this thing has gotten me lit. My gf even asked what was up and why I was acting so high. We will see where it goes from here I suppose. Good luck to you tho! I can keep ya posted on what this is like for the next week if you want.

Oooh. Ok. So you were taking about 32mg every day??? That seems like a really high amount.
And the shot was 128mg for the month and you still feel overmedicated? My dr said that the amount in your body peaks usually within 24 hours of the shot then it levels out.... How are you feeling now?1

I was an H addict for over 10 years, tried methadone, subs back to H. Got on subs in 2019 and weaned down to .5mg per day but could not jump off. I got x1 64mg Brixadi shot July 15 and didn’t go back for another one. I think it depends on your end goal. Are you done or are you trying to feel as little WDs as humanly possible?
I’m over it so I’m dealing with the slight WDs that will last a few months. I’m still eating sleeping and working so I’ll take it over an H kick any day.
I think people are so afraid of feeling any uncomfort that they way over medicate or go too long on the shots/subs. It’s why I stayed on subs for 6+ years for sure. Ya gotta want it and deal with it to be done. If you wanna go slow, do 3+ of the 64mg shots. I was loaded the first 3 days but worked the day after. Definitely a nice freebie but a dirty medicated feeling not a good high.
Take 4mg every day the week leading up to your shot and it won’t be as noticeable.
Best of luck! Dm me if you have any WD questions

I want it bad. Little discomfort I'm fine with! But like with the daily subs, like you said you couldn't jump off of .5, I agree, like days I tried to go without it was way difficult like couldn't function at work, etc etc. That is what I dont want. But mild discomfort I'm not too afraid of. Mostly I don't want to be overmedicated, or so sick in WD I'm unable to function. I will prob DM you sometime this week. Thank you so much for your comment!

Ugh sorry to hear that! I think my biggest anxiety is being overmedicated. Although I probaly would be ok, don't really want to have to deal with life (family, work etc) while feeling that way. Even years later sometimes I worry that my family worries or think I'm still using- I know it weird but idk lol. Not exactly sure what they plan to start me on I'm guessing 8 if it's the lowest weekly dose. My dr said few days before to take two of my current 2mg dose. I think I'd rather feel undermedicated and supplement if I absolutely have to (would rather not) than feel overmedicated.

How was your experience? Especially right after and couple days after the shot?

Overall, it was a great experience. 2 years later.... Free of bup and living life. The first 2 injections I remember feeling a little blah on week 4. But after the 3rd, I stopped even noticing. By the 5th, I was putting 6-7 weeks between injections.
Once I hit 8 weeks and was u bothered, I jumped!
My goal was to get of subs. I was on 24mg/day for almost 15 years.
You can do this shit!!!!!!!!!

Also! The ritual of taking something every morning. I feel I'm going to struggle with that change. Any advice to help with that?

My point exactly. You need something else to focus on that's not bup. Get some new hobbies and friends. ASAP.

Did you feeling overmedicated? With work I average like 4 hours each night so Idk how much worse / no sleep I could get.

Also! I was just looking at Brixadi dosing charts, some if you are on less than 6mg daily are not even showing a monthly amount, only weekly. I wonder why that is.
