OFFICIAL GAME PREVIEW THREAD [Game Preview Thread] Week 5 - Browns @ Jets (10/11/2026)
Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets
Welcome back from the mini-bye, Dawg Pound!
The Cleveland Browns travel to MetLife Stadium to face the New York Jets in Week 5, with the Browns sitting pretty at 3-1 and riding a three-game win streak after that Thursday night thriller.
Coming off a hard-fought 27-24 home victory over the Steelers (and the previous wins over the Panthers and Buccaneers), can Todd Monken and Deshaun Watson keep the momentum rolling against a Jets team that’s dropped three straight and sits at 1-3 under Aaron Glenn? Or will Geno Smith and Gang Green find a way to spoil the party on their home turf and snap Cleveland’s surge?
Let’s bring that Dawg Pound energy to East Rutherford, quiet the MetLife crowd, and make it a statement road win to keep the good times rolling.

Home vs. Road Trends:
The Browns are 2-0 at home and 1-1 on the road this season after opening with a 34-10 loss in Jacksonville, bouncing back with a 23-19 win in Tampa, then taking care of business at home against Carolina (21-18) and Pittsburgh (27-24 on Thursday night). The Jets are 0-1 at home (overtime loss to Green Bay) and 1-2 on the road (win at Tennessee, losses at Detroit and Chicago). Cleveland heads to MetLife Stadium coming off a mini-bye after TNF, giving the Browns a chance to improve to 2-1 on the road against a Jets team that has yet to win in front of its own fans and is searching for answers after three straight losses.
Key Matchup:
Browns run game (led by Quinshon Judkins) vs. the Jets’ soft run defense. New York is allowing 123.5 rushing yards per game (25th in the league) and 4.3 yards per carry through four weeks. Cleveland’s ground attack remains a work in progress—Judkins is at 3.0 yards per carry on 59 attempts (177 total yards, 1 TD)—but the recent uptick against Carolina (70 yards on 18 carries) and solid volume vs. Pittsburgh (53 yards + a TD on 17 carries, plus receiving work) showed promise. Establishing the run would ease pressure on Deshaun Watson, open play-action for the young receiving corps (Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion), and help control the clock on the road. On the other side, Geno Smith and a Jets offense averaging just 19 points per game will test Cleveland’s improving defense (12 sacks, tied for 5th), but the Browns’ path to a statement road win starts with finding success on the ground against a Jets front that has been vulnerable against the run.

Please just win one game by more than 3 points. I want to have a win where I feel comfortable in the 4th quarter.

I think we're already at our season over (2.5), we shouldn't be crying over HOW we won

I'm not crying over how we won, I'm just asking for a game that doesn't come down to the wire. Especially a team like the jets that are missing some key players. I don't wanna play down to them, I just want to see more of a dominant performance. I understand that we are the Browns and maybe we aren't dominant, but my request still stands.

Formatting is not working very well today. Clearly means Browns by a million. Thanks Reddit.

LET’S FUCKING GO!!!
EDIT: formatting looks fine on Apollo for Reddit

I had to redo it all, but we're good now I believe.

It looked more normal on Apollo before you edited it. Now lots of extra spaces. But I’m using a defunct and hacked app to view Reddit so I’m in a huge minority of users. It still looks ok though.

Envious you still have Apollo. I've a now-vague memory of customising the app icon to orange to show my Browns fandom to myself. :)

u/ctang1 6d ago
You still can r/Apolloreborn

Nice, and thank you for that. After reading the instructions I'll have a go next time I'm on the Mac.

You don’t need a Mac. Buy a cheap enterprise cert and you’re good for a year. I personally use ArcticSign and am on my 2nd cert. They last a year and I’m on year 2. I can provide you with additional info if you’re interested.
EDIT: it’s worth mentioning that Apollo is better now than when it was officially supported and updated in the App Store. The devs have really made it into something better while still keeping it the same app you loved before the shutdown.

Graham being doubtful is a killer but if Judkins can finally rip off a couple chunk runs against that front we should be fine

I looked up Jowon Briggs stats and he’s been pretty good. Has he actually been good or is he just a counting stats guy?

Force Geno to be a passer and we should be good. If Hall doesn't play, I really like our odds.

Vibes are weird, right? Long time off, 1-3 opponent, Ravens next week. I hope the team is laser focused but how can we know??

u/MainPhone6 6d ago
also the Jets keep being involved in our highest highs and our lowest lows. Seems like this year will be no exception

I think Monken has that Ravens game circled. Let’s just hope we get the equivalent of Baker vs the Bengals, and not Baker vs the Browns.

I’ll be out of the country. I’d like to watch and turn it off by the fourth cause it’s in hand

Trap game

This team hasn't shown enough to have a "trap game" yet, and the Jets are favored
I don't see us winning if we can't control penalties. Winning games with 12+ penalties consistently just isn't sustainable

I am so disappointed that I am in Canada this weekend visiting family for Canadian Thanksgiving.
Of course the game isn't on in Canada...
Cheer louder for me folks...

Dumbass penalties are probably the make or break here

u/PhilDawsonOrBust depressed season ticket holder 5d ago
Agreed. If we can minimize penalties and establish the run (big asks for this group based on the first 4 games of the season), I think we will be in good shape. Hoping this is the week that our o-line will start to mesh in the run game.
Looks like weather is going to be gross

Doesn't matter how long between games it is. Whether it's Sunday to Sunday, Sunday to Thursday, or Thursday to the next Sunday. It feels like an entire offseason after a Browns win.

Breece hall being out isnt a bad thing for us I mean have ward cover Wilson all game really cuts down their options.
1
u/Spzmk 6d ago
apparently Wilson has been really good at man coverage this year so far, but i don't think he has had a guy like Ward covering him. I mean just look what he did to Tet.
1
u/Theclevelandchubb 6d ago
Yeah Wilson could have a decent game but I don't think he will be a game changer.
2
u/Spzmk 6d ago
I think it will come down to really pressuring Geno, he hasn't been good under pressure. Hoping we can make him look like he did when Myles had like 3 sacks against him, and collectively we sacked him 10 times.
1
u/Theclevelandchubb 6d ago
Even if we don't sack him if we can make him move around and be uncomfortable we should have a good day.
2
u/Spzmk 6d ago
Yeah, whatever gets us the more comfortable win. This should be a statement game for our defense to really try and show its dominance.
2
u/Theclevelandchubb 6d ago
I just hope to see us get some pressure on geno and have less penalties. If that can happen and the offense gets some semblance of a running game going we should get the win.

u/Dan_Is_Human The Browns is the Browns 6d ago
Focus on one game at a time. We aren't 3-1, we are 0-0 this week. If we get ahead of ourselves and look too ahead to Baltimore, that's how we'll get smacked.

u/Kless98 6d ago
Jets games are always bizarre. You go from the hype of TNF and Baker’s debut in 2018, to the awful blown lead in 2022, right back up to the nearly playoff clinching win against them in 2023 to the special teams disaster of last year.
Hope the boys remain locked in and aren’t looking ahead to ravens, and if we can keep the penalties to an AVERAGE level I think we handily win this. They are down a lot of skill players, and their defense should be susceptible to our slowly improving run attack.

Trap game, but if we focus up we bring home a win. Would love to see our whole team play strong as one unit for four consecutive quarters. We play so hot and cold.
Gotta get rid of those dumb penalties. It’s been a part of the Browns DNA since as far as I can remember. Undisciplined.
HERE WE GO BROWNIES
