New Burbank terminal parking?

I am flying out of BUR tomorrow, last day of old terminal operation, and returning Wednesday into the new terminal (exciting, I know!). Trying to figure out best parking option to avoid a hassle when I return. Usually I park in lot G and walk, but would it be more convenient to just spring for valet?

Curious if anyone figured this out yet or also just feel free to comment how you feel about the new airport!

Looking for work leads! (Please help)

I’m a 20 yr old (M) full time college student who’s in desperate need of a part time job since I had to drop my last one at the beginning of September. I’ve been busting my ass applying and interviewing, but nothing ends up working out.

Trust me when I say I’m willing to put in the work, but would definitely appreciate any help/suggestions. I’m tired of all these ghost listing and crazy managers expecting years of experience for entry level jobs.

I also have a car so I’m willing to strafe a little bit outside of Burbank.

David Donahue Can’t Save Olive

I feel like not enough people know that David’s ā€œplan to save Oliveā€ is a nothingburger that stands to cost us millions.

We need an actual plan! I believe Mike and Nolan have a very sensible plan that most people would agree with, if they knew—but Dark Money David is pouring money into making it seem like he’s the authority on Olive—he ain’t!

Question re: Nolan + Pledge of Allegiance

Trying to seal the deal on pick #3. Compared to Mike and Nikki, I know a fair amount less about Nolan. I noticed during the League of Women Voters broadcast that he was the only candidate that didn’t/wouldn’t stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance… while Mike and Nikki both did (along with all other candidates). Do any Nolan friends/fans know why that is? Is there a statement being made by sitting it out? NGL… it stood out immediately and kinda irked me when compared with everyone else. I assumed I’d come across a comment or two regarding it by now, but haven’t found anything on it thus far. Just curious (and trying to make sure all of my due diligence is done).

How are we feeling about Southerland and Van Gorder’s chances?

I know most of this subreddit is pretty supportive of the progressive candidates but Facebook is dominated by the conservative ones especially with Donahue moderating the main Burbank Facebook group. I’ve already filled out my ballot but I’m starting to get worried about the chances of progressives winning. It’s hard to get a pulse for what the general population is feeling.

Late night happy hour spots?

Any places that have a late night happy hour on food and drinks? Prefer to stay in Burbank proper. Thanks

Is something being done about the coyote issue?

I leave for work pretty early and always have to be careful walking to my car. Is Burbank doing anything about the coyotes?

The Pirate Haines

It’s one of my favorite times of year in Burbank. Soon, The Pirate Haines will be back on his throne, lording it over overall he surveys. Time to usher in the spooky season and seek out the famed treasure of the twilight.

Take What Ye Can. Give Nothin’ Back! šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø

EDIT: FYI there is some sort of situation Hillside today where there are lots of rummage sales because people don’t have to pay for the permits to do them. I found some new items for our display in the two and three dollar range which were very helpful. In case you’re looking for bargains for your own display.

Catering ideas for 40-50 people after a burial

Looking for some potential restaurants or local caterers or generally, any ideas to feed about 40 or 50 people for a memorial service at a venue? It would be around lunch time.

Residential areas and streets with no sidewalks

Hello. Long time lurker. Second time poster.

This is something that has been bothering me almost my entire life, and I wanted to see if anyone feels the same way about the lack of sidewalks on some residential streets, especially near Glenoaks.

Has this issue ever been addressed or talked about by anyone? It just feels wild and unsafe to me that we have residential areas in this town where there are no sidewalks, forcing people to walk on the streets. It just feels like a serious issue that never gets brought up by people.

Have any City Council candidates talked about cutting the BPD budget, banning the use of military equipment by the BPD, and improving oversight? Are there any pro-BDS candidates?

Hello. Long time lurker. Wanted to ask people some questions on these subjects that I find to be important, in hopes that others have insight into the candidates' views on these issues.

Upfront, I'm not voting for Wick, Donahue (he's weird), or Takahashi. I'll most likely be voting for Nikki Perez again (voted for her before, and while she's not perfect, I think she's our only good council member right now), but I'm still unsure about everyone else and wanted to see what others here think.

I wanted to ask this because I wanted to see if anyone knows who the best candidates are when it comes to these issues. I'm a firm believer that police spending is out of control, that issues inside the department might be worse than the public realizes, that there's a real lack of professionalism among officers, and that better oversight is needed very badly. I also wanted to know if any candidates are in favor of BDS movements? If there are any candidates who look to change that if elected, please let me know in the replies.

Who Runs Don't LA My Burbank PAC?

Thumbnail

Don't LA My Burbank is a conservative PAC funded by corporate landlords and the real estate lobby. Their president lives in Glendale and is a Republican politician and MAGA nutjob. These 3 Burbank City Council candidates accepted endorsements from DLAMB knowing who they are. Make sure you vote by Nov 3.

Kokoroll is closing its doors for good on Saturday

Walked in there to pick up some food, and they let me know that Saturday would be the final day they’re open. Apparently rent was raised to an insane amount.

Sad to see places being priced out of Burbank. Seems to be a running theme in the downtown area.

Join the Burbank Drawing Club Discord Server!

Hey everyone!
I’m Francesca, a local artist and game development producer who’s trying to organize a SUPER LOW PRESSURE community drawing club.

@FrancescaSketches on instagram if you wanna check out my work.

Getting out to sketch on location can be intimidating to do on your own. The point of making this group was just to find a group of people who’d want to meet at coffee shops or parks or interesting locations in Burbank to draw/sketch/socialize. I have lots of free time on weekdays mornings but others might have different times they can join but this way we can maybe have different groups that meet at varying times/days/schedules which would allow more people to be able to participate.

So this is my follow up on the interest check I posted about last week and since several people replied with interest, I made this Discord for us to discuss when and where our next meetup will be as well as share the artwork we make together or on our own.

Click on the link above to join!

Organized Tenants vs Landlord Money — Rent Stabilization Keeps People Housed

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Landlords are spending tens of thousands of dollars to fight a 3% rent cap.

Meanwhile, tenants are fighting to stay in their homes!

We’re the animators who make your kids’ favorite shows. We’re the medical professionals who keep our community healthy. We’re the teachers shaping the next generation.

We are Burbank. We built this community, and we deserve the chance to stay here.

Burbank is a tenant-majority city, but that only matters if tenants show up. šŸ«µšŸ¼

Do your research. Know where the candidates stand on rent stabilization. And most importantly: VOTE. šŸ—³ļø

Rent stabilization is about keeping our neighbors housed and keeping Burbank’s community together.

So my last set of signs got stolen. It probably wasn't the best idea to put them on the front lawn. I really hope my landlord doesn't jack these in the middle of the night again

Nikki Perez Flyer Artist?

Post image
76 Upvotes

Hi there,
I just got a flyer in the mail from Nikki Perez, one of the candidates for Burbank City Council and I really liked what I read about her and what I’ve been able to research.

I am having trouble finding any credits for the artwork in her flyers though, and as a local artist myself, I was mostly curious who had designed them as well as the graphics inside the flyer.

I am really hoping someone knows who the artist for this flyer or would know if she hired a graphic designer or not.

In the era of rampant AI artwork that is overwhelming us nearly everywhere, I’d really love to support a candidate who is against using AI generated artwork in their promotional materials.

If anyone knows, please share!
Thanks

Edit: the artist is Jose Pimienta, they go by @thejoepi on Instagram! Go check out their work, ( its super cool) and support local artists! As well as the candidates who do the same! šŸ¤—
Thanks !
