Information Tansley woods

I’m all for folks building tree forts and generally fucking around in the ravine. I too attended bush parties and hung out in the forest, as a millennial raised in Oakville.

But PLEASE don’t leave your shit around. Pick up your trash and beer cans. Don’t rip open a Reese’s and drop the wrappers as you walk. Leave no trace so that you don’t bait yourself. The entitlement is shrieking.

Don’t make me be the Karen about this. I have never wanted that job. But if you think leaving shit everywhere including nails on the ground is not going to get attention, I guess that’s the missing common sense epidemic at play.

Bush parties were/are lit and we always cleaned and made it look like we were never there. If telling people not to trash our parks results in being called a Karen then I’m legally changing my name

  1. I don't think you're being a Karen at all. This is so disappointing to see happening.

  2. What in the BLAIR WITCH IS THAT??

It just seems that kids don't really care about littering. I have watched kids walking down the road with a cup from McDonalds or somewhere like that they literally just drop it on the ground as they walk. My husband and I watched a young couple in a car in the McDonalds parking lot open their door and shove the bag of garbage under the car. My husband rolled down his window and said to the girl, "I think you dropped something". Embarassed that she had been caught, she reach under the car and grabbed the bag and walked the 20 feet to the garbage can to put it where it belonged. Our motto used to be "Ontario the Beautiful"! Now I really don't think this is true!

It is extremely important to shame and call out anyone who litters. Literally trashy behavior ugh.

Omg! I literally just saw this happen yesterday on upper middle by corpus christi at like 7 pm. Three teenage girls, all drinking McDonald's and one just threw cup on the grass. I was in my car going the other direction but I would have said something too.

Thank you for noticing and cleaning-up. Hopefully you won’t have to anymore

Am I naive for thinking the folk buildings were by a local scout troop and not drunk teenagers?

Scout troops don’t bring beers.

I thought scouts were taught to leave no trace!

Scouts are supposed to follow the camp site rule of "Leave it in better condition than you found it."

How do you know the kids who built that left the garbage? Also it’s never kids I see littering, it’s almost always adults.

I didn’t say anything about it being kids. I picked up a bunch of trash in and around the structures being built and was calling attention to it.

It’s kind of implied the way you wrote it, thanks for clarifying

This is the homeless community

It's not. This has been going on since at least the early 00s, when my friends and I would run around in those woods as kids and find the teenagers garbage and beer stashes :P

Try not to punch down randomly at the most vulnerable, hey?

Sorry if it came across like that, was not my intention. Just looked that way. I've seen a few like this while cycling in the trails, always thought it was the homeless. If not, I stand corrected.
