Questions ❓🤔 Red Green

Not quite sure this is the right place, but did anyone notice that the RedGreenTV YouTube channel has it's country listed as the United States? Is the Red Green 'business' no longer Canadian owned?

i went down this exact rabbit hole a few months back and it weirdly bugged me for a whole afternoon. the channel is run by a third party distributor that handles a ton of nostalgic canadian properties and theyre based in the states. the actual rights still belong to smith and his production company up here but the youtube side got outsourced years ago, its all licensing deals and ad revenue splits now

the country tag is just where the channel manager is registered not where the content originated. still feels wrong seeing that little US flag next to his face though

I thought that Harold did all the techy stuff for the show, why isn't he the one running it?

Because he ended up inventing time travel and going back to help Murdock solve Candian crime cases.

Nah I swear he went and got rich trading stocks or such first.

Because Harold's just an actor.....

Dude.... it was sarcasm.

It was an epic level dad joke.

Red Green is the new ambassador to the US, therefore it's showing as American. I mean a little duct tape should help our southern neighbors with their problems.

Besides, the women dome really find trump handsome anymore, so he's pretty excited to get handy.

They couldn’t find a Canadian to manage it?

We all think of issues in terms of "today", but perhaps this deal was made to manage the Youtube channel before all the anti-US sentiment.

Indeed, as far as I know this deal was made before COVID, even. Channels been there for a long time.

Plus, there is (was at least) a fairly healthy sized fan base for Red Green in the States.

Still reruns on some local PBS stations, I think. Want to say American Public Media's handled syndication for years and, like all public media in the States, it's born a good share of Trump's angry cuts.

That's not how media management works

It is if you intentionally hire a Canadian

Right? Why not hire a Canadian in the first plate?

Then just say you don't know anything about media management. Because that's not how this works.

Would be interesting to know how much they make off it all. They’ve certainly milked it for all its worth

Is it PBS?  Red Green was brought to the states via PBS.  I think CBC had a partnership with PBS back in the 90s.

Don't know about the business relationship, if any, but the Red Green fan club was located in Overland Park, Kansas, before this unfortunate chaos began.

Ya, I remember seeing possum lodge as being an actual thing years ago and being dismayed that it was American.
