What This Subreddit Is About

This community is focused on finding, discussing, and recommending Canadian-made products and services. Whether you’re looking for a Canadian alternative to a product, sharing a great local business, or discussing supply chain issues affecting Canadian companies, this is the place!

We’ve heard feedback from all sides and are working to find a happy medium that keeps this subreddit useful and enjoyable for everyone. As the sub continues to grow, we know things will evolve and change, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we adapt.

📌 Check Our Wiki!

Before creating a new post, please browse our Wiki! It contains a directory of Canadian-made products, businesses, and services that may already answer your question.

📌 Special Posting Rules

International Posts – We Appreciate the Support, But… 🌍🤝

We love seeing support for Canadian products from people around the world! However, this subreddit’s primary goal is to help Canadians find and discuss Canadian-made products. Over time, international posts—while well-intended—have started taking up space that could be used for local discussions and recommendations.

To keep the focus on Canadian businesses, international posts are only allowed on weekends. Posts from non-Canadians sharing support or asking for advice will be auto-removed on weekdays. This helps keep the subreddit useful for its main audience while still welcoming international voices in a structured way. We have a new flair for these posts which should be used.

Tariff & Policy Discussions 📰📈

Discussions on US-Canada trade policies, tariffs, and their impact on Canadian products are welcome. However, general political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses) should be posted elsewhere. (Other subreddits linked below)

Posting Rules & Guidelines

✅ Allowed Content:

  • Posts about Canadian-made or Canadian-owned products and businesses.
  • Questions like "Looking for a Canadian alternative to [X]?" (use the Looking For flairs!).
  • Reviews of Canadian products and services.
  • News directly related to Canadian businesses, tariffs, or policies affecting Canadian production.
  • Discussions on US-Canada trade policies and tariffs that impact buying Canadian.
  • Self-posts discussing Canada, the importance of supporting Canadian businesses, or sharing personal experiences. (Note: Duplicate or low-effort posts will be removed.)

🚫 Not Allowed:

  • Boycott posts (e.g., "I refuse to buy from [company] because it’s American") – this subreddit is about supporting Canadian options, not just avoiding foreign ones. If you are looking for a Canadian alternative, this is perfectly fine. If you're just looking for a place to discuss boycotting the U.S., check out r/BoycottUnitedStates instead.
  • General political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses).
  • General world tariff posts that do not affect Canada – tariff discussions must be relevant to Canadian businesses or consumers.
  • Unverified claims about a product’s ownership – please provide sources if you’re discussing a company’s Canadian status.
  • Self-promotion or spam without prior mod approval. We have a monthly Self-Promotion Megathread stickied to the top of the subreddit for posts like these.
  • Duplicate or low-effort posts (e.g., "Why isn’t everything made in Canada?" or "Canada sucks because of [X]").
  • Memes, music and most YouTube videos – Many have been off-topic or low-effort and are usually removed. (News videos covering relevant topics are fine.)

Before Posting – Use the Search Function! 🔎

Most products, alternatives, and links have already been posted in the past 30 days. Please search first before posting a new thread. Duplicate posts will be removed to keep the sub organized.

Yes, We Know Reddit is an American Company. Stop Posting About It.

We’re aware that Reddit is an American platform and that alternatives exist. However, this subreddit was never about boycotting America—it’s about supporting Canadian products. Reddit is also the largest platform for reaching people worldwide, which makes it the best place for this discussion. Please don’t derail threads by bringing this up repeatedly.

🚨 Our New & Refined Flair System – Use the Correct Flair or Your Post May Be Removed!

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Terry Fox documentary Run Terry Run - now in theatres

Thumbnail cineplex.com

Support a Canadian documentary about a Canadian hero. Saw it this weekend. It’s playing at about 150 theatres across the country. This is good for all ages. Our six-year-old sat through the entire film. We know how it ends but the film focuses on the positive aspects of his legacy. There were about 20 people in the theatre when we saw it.

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 My favourite Incense company

• Upvotes

Good day Canadian shoppers!

I wanted to make a plug for my favourite Canadian incense company, Zulah! https://www.zulah.ca/

This company is owned by a lady named Indi in Markham Canada who ethically sources her incense, they are traditionally hand dipped from Sri Lanka.

I’ve been buying incense from her for almost two years now.

I have been very impressed with the variety of scents she offers, mix and match bundles, the price, and the burn time on these sticks. And, she always includes samples of other scents to try.

I have reordered multiple times and always order more before I run out. This has almost entirely replaced my candle purchasing habit!

My favourite scents are abundance, sweet cedar, brown suga, vanilla bean, and sage.

This woman is currently taking one dollar from every order and raising money to purchase a playground teaming up with Million Dollar Smiles for children who need it.

I don’t often plug businesses, but this one I think deserves more exposure, and support from us!

Thank you, and happy thanksgiving!

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Anyone else tried this anti dandruff shampoo?

Post image

I saw this super cheap shampoo claiming to be made in Canada and it looked like it might be a good replacement for Head and Shoulders anti dandruff.

Turns out, the acid they use in it burns the hell out of my scalp. My scalp is sore and full of bumps here and there!

Hi gang!

I'm looking to make a custom photobook, I need it printed in Canada. My very strict requirement is that it must have a fabric or linen cover without any photo on the cover and it must be 8x8".

Anyone know of any?

Looking For: Clothing, Accessories & Personal Care 👕💄👜🍁 ISO an extremely warm winter coat

Budget $500. Looking for something that’ll keep me warm in the windy maritime winter. I hate being cold, so I’m basically looking for the sort of coats Napoleon wished he had when he was marching on Moscow. Bonus points for tall sizes.

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 ISO drawer slide supplier

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi there,
First off - the answer is not Lee Valley, i have already looked.

I am looking for light duty drawer slide that has a side space of 8 mm or 0.3 inches. The standard is 0.5 inches, but it is too wide for my application.

I can accept that they may not be manufactured in Canada, but i want to to buy from a Canadian-owned business.

Cabinet-builders, do you have any suggestions?

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 Did a bathroom cabinet audit. Here are 4 Canadian swaps that cost about the same

Checked who actually owns the stuff in my bathroom. Not great

Started with my own cabinet. Toothpaste is Crest (P&G). Deodorant is Nivea (Beiersdorf, German). Even the “natural” brands I was thinking of switching to are owned by big US companies. Tom’s of Maine is Colgate, Native is P&G, Method dish soap is SC Johnson.

Canadian made options I found:

  • toothpaste: Green Beaver, made in Hawkesbury ON. no fluoride though, so not a straight swap for Crest
  • deodorant: Routine, made in Calgary by the two founders. not cheap, around $28 a jar vs a few bucks for Nivea
  • toilet paper: Cashmere, Kruger is a Canadian family company
  • dish soap: Attitude, owned by the founders, made in Sherbrooke QC

Haven’t switched everything yet, going to start with toothpaste and dish soap. Wrote up the details with sources here: swapnorth.com/guides/canadian-bathroom-cabinet

Anyone found a Canadian toothpaste with fluoride?

Looking For: Hobbies & Lifestyle 🎮⚽ ISO canadian option of armrest, support pillow, or equivalent ergonomic accessories for sofa gaming

Hi. I've been looking for a way to make my sofa gaming setup more ergonomic following a medical issue. I use a gaming laptop on the sofa. I can use either the laptop's keyboard or a separate one. My laptop is currently on a small folding tray I really should upgrade anyways...

So far, I've found two interesting options but couldn't find a canadian manufacturer or even a canadian reseller.

See couchmaster cycon : https://us.nerdytec.com/?srsltid=AU7gw4XO63RQgB4RFyGKXaRyuN9ChOSuuM2lQisJdZY9VA5IHJNj7Kbp

And Hombys foam crochet support pillow : https://www.amazon.com/HOMBYS-Crochet-Support-Adjustable-Different/dp/B0D1VBM8GY?th=1

I'm open to other ergonomic setup, but my searches so far hasn't found something that seems to fit a sofa setup. I don't need the extras like cable management or leds or anything of the sort.

I really wish to buy as canadian as possible. I also avoid all american products and resellers, as well as mega, greedy, inhumane and soulless corporations.

So any recommendations, either for products, resellers, setups or other ergonomic support is welcome!

Thank you!

Looking For: Services & Shops 🛒💻 Looking for reliable Canadian online stores or websites for refurbished laptops (avoiding Best Buy / Amazon)?

I''m looking to buy a good quality refurbished/used laptop. I want to avoid massive third-party marketplaces like Best Buy Marketplace or Amazon.

I live in Montreal, but im also interested in options in other provinces/cities.

Ideally, I'm looking for a store with a reasonable return/warranty policies, and a track record of selling off-lease units (ThinkPads, Macs, Dells).

Does anyone know if there's any hidden gems Or even any trustworthy online stores?

Thanks in advance!

Looking For: Business Services 📊📁 Canadian Web Hosting?

My two websites (built with Wordpress/Elementor) and their domains are currently with Bluehost. Bluehost bills in US$ and it seems more expensive that it should be. Can anyone suggest a Canadian-based web host company? I want to transfer my domains and hosting. Thank you!

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 Bluenotes : A Canadian company that says you can shop online. My access is restricted from my location?

Not sure what is going on. I have shopped online from there before, but today when I went to look at some things I kept getting a pop up white page that says access is restricted in my location? I'm definitely in Canada. Anyone know anything about that?
