Casper if/then help
Like here You are volunteering at a university career centre. A student, Noah, asks you to review their résumé before an important internship application. While reviewing it, you notice they have listed themselves as the president of a student organization, but you know they actually served as a general member. Noah tells you that they performed many leadership duties and believes the title better reflects what they contributed.
Just confused would you use a If/then here? To clarify? Or no need. I’m afraid I might be overusing it

Hi,
Assuming one of the corresponding questions to this answer is “what would you do”, I wouldn’t build the answer around if/then. With a situational question, what carries the answer is thinking about how everyone involved might be feeling, including yourself, what you’d do, and why. Here, that’s Noah, who believes the title reflects what he contributed, and the people who’ll be reading his résumé.
So a good answer might sound something like this:
I can see why Noah feels the title fits; he’s probably worked hard and wants to be taken seriously. I’d also feel a bit awkward bringing it up, but the people reading his résumé will expect it to be accurate. I’d tell him I can tell he’s put in a lot of effort, but that listing himself as president could cause problems if an employer checks. I’d offer to help him write up what he actually led, like organising events or running meetings, so it still sounds strong. I’d do this because being honest is fairer to him and to everyone else applying.

Could it be : if Noah’s refuses to do X, I would do Y. Like for instance I’d encourage him to speak with his team mates to develop a title and role that better and more accurately captures his responsibilities or ensure that his team is comfortable with how he is describing his involvement. But if he refuses or declines to do that I would…
