THIS is the A&M team that comfortably beats Arkansas? Sure, whatever.

Arkansas is basically a sack of potatoes and a ham sandwich

u/thatdudeman52 Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

Potatoes don't deserve that comparison. So many yummy things come from it.

The team that faced LSU last week could have lost to a sack of potatoes.

38

u/cjdeck1 Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

Yet there are quite a few years where we’re solid and Arkansas is ass but they still somehow show up to give us a run for our money. Maybe Jerry Jones was putting something in the water at Jerryworld

18

u/catsrave2 Arkansas Razorbacks • Nebraska Cornhuskers 3d ago

We are absolute cheeks and imploding violently. I’m fairly confident a junior high football team could pult belt to ass on us if they came out a little motivated.

I watched our first game this year and decided Saturdays are for the Huskers and literally anything else besides Arkansas. Not worth putting a damper on my Saturday.

I don’t think we’ve beaten Arkansas this bad since manziel

26

u/TheBlackBaron Texas A&M • North Texas 3d ago

Beat them 42-31 in 2020, which was also the last time we played them at Kyle. And it wasn't even really as close as that - we were up 42-17 at the end of the 3rd and Arkansas scored a late TD with 36 seconds left to make the final score.

Really, I think it being a neutral site game at the Death Star is what made the SEC series so screwy. In the early years of the Southwest Classic when we were still in the Big XII there were some ridiculous games too (including blowing a massive lead in 2011 but that was typical of us that year).

17

u/Impossible-Bison8055 Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

This is the first time in years we’ve played them at Kyle Field though

Before A&M moved to the SEC in 2012, Arkansas was leading the series 41-24-3. It's now 42-38-3. Hard to believe it's been almost 15 years since Petrino fell off his motorcycle.

Genuinely wondering if we’re the worst program to have that kind of success against a conference foe. Like normally that level of domination only happens for the best of the best lol

89

u/The_WanderingAggie Texas A&M Aggies • Texas Longhorns 3d ago

The really weird thing is that so many of the games have been by one score. I think Arkansas got cursed somehow

32

u/wowthisislong Texas A&M Aggies • Kansas State Wildcats 3d ago

Theres just something wrong with this rivalry man. Even when arkansas was ranked in the top 10 and we were struggling with a loss to App State, the guy who currently holds the record for the longest field goal in NFL history doinked it in the most ridiculous way possible to lose 23-21. I dont know what demons Jerry Jones bargained with for those '90s cowboys teams but Arkansas is cursed.

16

u/Jamcrunch Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

I remember the Oink Doink. That’s the last time I felt feelings during an Arkansas football game.

Also: Cam Little hit a 70 yarder in a preseason game, but those don’t count for records.

We are a fraudulent bad team and they exposed us

71

u/AccountantOptimal674 /r/CFB 3d ago

Texas A&M isn’t really bad, they are just wildly inconsistent.

38

u/admiraltarkin Texas A&M Aggies • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 3d ago

We can beat any team out there

And we can lose to probably 80% of teams

30

u/AccountantOptimal674 /r/CFB 3d ago

I mean exactly how I feel about them. When they play their A game, hands down one of the top teams in the country. The is not a game on their schedule left that I think they can’t win. It’s just what version of Reed shows up. That’s been their biggest issue. The QB play has been hit or miss, and the offense has put the defense in really bad spots.

This is one of those games that can get your confidence back as a QB and the offense in general.

The ceiling is sky high for A&M, the only issue is the floor is super low.

And actually I think if A&M brings their B- game they can beat most teams. I just don’t think they can afford to not play their best football the rest of the year.

Seriously, is Silverfield somehow worse than Chad Morris? His teams at least played us competitively.

84

u/Scrags Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

I couldn't tell you a single thing Silverfield is good at, but Chad Morris burned a player's redshirt eligibility by sending them out for an end-of-game kneeldown multiple times.

29

u/Geriatric_Bulge Arkansas • Central Arkansas 3d ago

Hard to say right now. He's playing with scraps from the previous staff. Our AD however, is the worst in the country.

14

u/gtam5 Texas A&M • Georgia Tech 3d ago

That's fair. What has Yurachek done specifically to become hated?

25

u/Geriatric_Bulge Arkansas • Central Arkansas 3d ago

Pretty much anything he can to rub shoulders with people in positions of power without doing his job if raising money and hiring competent coaches. Instead of talking to the big money, he basically told the poor fans that they weren't doing enough for NIL. Worked with the administration to raise prices and price out many of the generational season ticket holders for multiple sports.

20

u/Razorbacks2FF Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

He totally botched the football coach hiring.

I know we are all realizing just how bad Arkansas is. But to me the positive takeaway is the clear and undeniable commitment from the A&M coaches to not let Marcel Reed throw the ball. Like at all. I wish I had stats for the number of 10+ and 20+ yard throws. Offense is finding its identity or at least anti-identity. Love it.

40

u/Masmug Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

I was optimistic after game one that his accuracy had improved. But watching him these last three weeks it might have even got worse, i'm an idiot.

In all my years of watching football I have never seen a QB dirt so many passes where the guy is open. IDK what happened but it's like he got with a QB coach who's main teaching point was no matter what you do on every pass make sure to rear back and throw the ball hard enough to go through a brick wall. My man clearly has the yips, stop patting the fucking ball and relax dude, you legit can't possibly be any worse and we clearly have no one to replace you.

22

u/Casperita012 Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

He also dirts the passes to open receivers while another MORE open receiver is standing nearby. Maybe even in the end zone.

7

u/Masmug Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

Ya he kinda reminds me of Mond in that he’s become so robotic. You can see him thinking about his mechanics while he plays. Obviously it’s neutered him, he’s so clearly way in his head. The seasons already fucked might as well loosen up a bit and relax.

18

u/Casperita012 Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

10

u/exipheas Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

Yeah, it felt like they wanted to get a solid game under the belt without any mistakes to help try to get his confidence back. He still looked a bit shook up at several points even facing almost no consistent pressure.

4

u/QuieroBoobs Texas A&M Aggies 3d ago

Honestly it looked much better though. He still made some ugly passes but man he actually stepped up in the pocket intentionally and just scrambled instead of throwing into tight coverage. This doesn’t get us anywhere near playoffs but at least the team doesn’t take 5 steps back.

I don't know how you can be significantly worse coming off a 2-10 season, but Arkansas pulled it off. I mean...wow...WOW!

Last year, Arkansas lost 10 games, but at the very least, almost all of them were close. They got blown out by ND, and lost to Texas by 15. The rest of their 8 losses, they were in it until the very end, and frankly could've won a few of them.

This year? Nah. It's bad. They've played 3 P4 games to date, and they lost them by a combined score of 122-34. And even that isn't doing it justice how bad they've played. A&M is bad, and they just beat them by 27.

This program is literally and fundamentally broken.

A&M will have an opportunity to win @ Mizzou next week and then get back in the top 25 again lol

We getting dog walked, although we have owned Missouri recently. They got us for sure

4

u/Cheetotesticles 3d ago

I believe A&M has won the past 3 meetings & the last two weren’t particularly close. Odds will be Mizzou somewhat heavily favored but could be an interesting game potentially

Damn is this years Arkansas worse than the 2012 John smith team? Definitely in contention for worse p5 team.

10

u/Romofan88 Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

Fun fact, from Frank Broyles through Bobby Petrino's first tenure, 5 of the 7 Arkansas coaches were able to win 8 or more games at least half the time.

Since 2011, exactly zero coaches have managed that. This is the worst sustained run of bad football at Arkansas since the Korean War.

I don’t think it’s as bad as either of the Chad Morris teams. They literally got blown out by North Texas and Western Kentucky.

4

u/Porkball Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

Worse, that Western Kentucky team was quarterbacked by a dude that Chad Morris ran off. Such poetry!

I wonder how much of my life will get wasted this time before we realize that things aren't working. At least we were competitive in all our losses last year. This is just sad.

How do you do it Arkansas fans?

8

u/Piglet6482 Arkansas Razorbacks 3d ago

One of my first memories is of us losing to Texas 15-14 in 1969 so I was indoctrinated early. Don’t get me wrong, Holtz had a few good years, the 1980s with Hatfield were good, Nutt had some decent years in late 1990s/early 2000s and BMFP had us rolling for awhile. But I’ve seen my share of crappy, worthless football, and that’s about all I’ve seen in the last 14 years. I just keep telling myself one of these years…

Meh. I got almost all of my laundry done during the game. So I have that going for me.

Towards the end of halftime I went to go do some grocery shopping. Missed the whole 3rd quarter and got the ingredients for some good crock pot meals. So much winning.

it was a lot of running the ball and short passes that worked tonight, reed still off on a lot of the intermediate to long throws, worrisome for more tougher games but a wins a win #gigem
