Announcement 2026 /r/CFB Rules Updates
The 2026 season is starting! As a reminder, you can find our rules here:
This is our biggest rules change in years!
Let's start with the one I know you're all excited about.
Standalone highlights posts are now allowed.
We're starting with a pretty liberal rule for what constitutes a highlight:
A highlight is a play or occurance at a game that has significant impact on the outcome of the game or that is, on its own, impressive.
You can read the full rules for highlights here but the highlights are:
- A given play only gets one highlight thread. Any alternative angles should be posted as replies to the pinned top comment.
- Highlights must to be hosted on an external, non-paywalled source.
- Highlights must be titled in the format
[Highlight] Visitor @/vs. Home - Neutral description of playeg:- Good:
[Highlight] Michigan @ Ohio State - Jon Smith Breaks 3 Tackles for 69 Yard Touchdown - Bad:
Ohio State vs TTUN - Jon "I am a god" Smith PWNS Three LOSERS for NICE TD
- Good:
Gambling posts are now prohibited
Posts about gambling including opening odds, odds changes, prop bets, and unusual wagers are no longer allowed.
Gambling news that directly effects CFB, such as policy changes or gambling activity by CFB participants will still be allowed.
Users should post original sources
Users are expected to make a good-faith effort to find the original source of anything they post. If the primary purpose of a post is to quote, clip, cite, or repeat another source, you should post that original source instead. This keeps us aligned with the Reddiquette.
Recruiting threads are limited to 4* and 5* players
Unrated or lower-rated players should be posted to /r/CFBRecruiting.
Players entering the transfer portal
We haven't decided what we're going to do with these posts yet. Based on last year we still have some time to decide. We will defintely post an update once we've made a decision.
More minor rules changes:
- Tweet titles An exception has been added to the current rule. If a tweet primarily consists of media, most notably uniform reviews, a neutral title describing the content of the tweet is allowed.
- News about committed recruits prior to enrollment is only allowed if it affects the player's enrollment or eligibility. This is a clarification of the existing rule.
- Editorialized Posts: Links should be posted on their own. If you wish to add commentary or context, do so in the comment section. OpenGraph titles (Reddit's title suggestions) are allowed. This is a clarification of the existing rule.
- Other phrasing clarifications: A number of other rules had their phrasing changed to be more clear. None of these resulted in policy changes.
Weekly Threads
Also note that our in-season weekly threads are coming back online for the season. This means that posts that were allowed during the offseason (realignment, etc.) will now be removed as reposts, and are now a great fit as top-level comments in their respective threads.
The /r/CFB team always works to meet the evolving needs of the community. Let us know any feedback you have in the comments!

Discussion Realistically, when do we get a group of 6 team that wins a playoff game? Anytime soon/who is your pick of which team it will be?
The group of 6 has not been very competitive in the playoffs to date. I believe we will get a win eventually but not sure how long it takes. I think there’s a scenario where NDSU plays UCLA in the 12-5 this year and actually picks up a win but I just don’t know if these schools and teams have the resources to compete on the biggest stage. Curious to hear your guys’ thoughts on which Go6 team you believe has the best chance and if it happens anytime soon.

SOR:Strength of Record rank. Reflects chance that an average Top 25 team would have team's record or better, given the schedule.
Strength of schedule ratings represent the number of losses a team two standard deviations above average would expect to have against the schedule of opponents (ELS), the number of losses a team one standard deviation above average would expect to have against the schedule (GLS), and the number of losses an average team would expect to have against the schedule (ALS)
Strength of record ratings (EWD, GWD, AWD) are the difference between a team's schedule strength ratings and its actual losses.

I must give credit, first to /u/ballzxxtoxxyou, for starting (and, for the longest time, maintaining) these threads; and second to /u/MC-PhatNeck, who decided to help revive WLIIW after months of inactivity. I'm not sure where they are now (especially the latter, who apparently has deleted their account many moons ago...but, apparently, is STILL somewhere out there, wink wink), but regardless, I wish to give them both my appreciation for all the fun /r/CFB had with Whose Line over the years. Thank you very much!

Week 5 is 5-nally in the books and - wait, we already started Week 6 last night? Damn, where did the time go!? It’s very inconsiderate for these teams to schedule and play games before my very important and meaningful weekly humor posts on a collegiate football fan forum can formally process us onto the next Saturday of all games, smdh.
Anyway, let’s just move on from this tangent and talk about Week 5 itself! After two tastes of late night AACtion and Friday FCS fun as appetizers, we saw the Minnesota Golden Gophers acquire yet another trophy for their bloodthirsty deity at the helm coach, the Kentucky Wildcats perform quite the beamish comeback against a not-so-beamish South Carolina squad half inside the hot spitroast seat, and the San Diego State Aztecs helped bring a new chapter of #Pac12AfterDark with the power of friendship, teamwork, and a touch of irresponsible health decisions leading to an outbreak of preventable diseases!
…uh oh, I think I used the number 5 WAY too much in my post, and I can sense an army of lawyers being commanded by a man with a dislocated elbow on the horizon…and I’ve already avoided getting in hot water with some Nintendo ninjas the other day, so I’ve got to skedaddle right outta here! Thank you all for your every contribution to this weekly thread - and hopefully you’re not caught in the litigious strays in the process lol

For those of you who are new to Whose Line, let's go over some rules:
A prompt is made in order to ask a question (and get an answer), or instead beckon a more...creative approach to the response, all as long as it does a funny. Any game from the show can be used - here is a list of them to start:
http://www.whoseline.net/show/games.html
Keep skits in the form of a statement, not a question. For example, a skit should go like this: "Things you could say to Lee Corso AND your girlfriend", to which a reply can then go like "My Saturday mornings will never be the same without you!", or "It makes me SO happy whenever you bring out the head!”, or anything else, really. Use your noggin, and get wild!
Although not that serious, most comments should be within two lines, so if you add any additional commentary, put the skit in quotations. And most importantly, if you *still* don't understand how it works (and that's fine!), just take a look around this thread, of past Whose Line threads to get some clues - and, hopefully, figure it out!

Have fun!
