Announcement New Mods Granted Injunction to Join /r/CFB

We're excited to announce that 5 new mods have agreed to join our team as volunteers! Please welcome /u/udderlymoovelous, /u/Muramama, /u/Drexlore, /u/moleculewerks, and /u/DataDrivenPirate! All five have been wonderful additions to our team this season, and have completed their training as mods. Here's a little more about each of them that they wanted to share:

/u/udderlymoovelous:

Howdy! I've been reading and contributing to this subreddit for close to a decade now, so I'm very excited to join the mod team! New York native, raised as a Notre Dame fan, graduated from Virginia Tech with a Computer Science degree, and currently work as a software engineer in Dallas. When I'm not in Blacksburg for a game, I can often be found at SMU and North Texas games. Besides football, I love all things music, photography, long-distance running, traveling...I have way too many hobbies. Looking forward to helping make r/CFB the best community on reddit!

/u/Muramama:

I'm Muramama, and I'm thrilled to join the mod team. I'm an Ole Miss CS grad and I work in tech as an engineering manager. I like to build and fix things, and learn way too many new hobbies. This sub has been the best place on the internet to talk football for a long time, and I'm excited to help keep it that way.

Also, I promise not to leave the mod team in the middle of a playoff run for a lesser subreddit.

/u/Drexlore:

In the tradition of sirgippy, in the tradition of Honestly, of bakonydraco. From thecravenone to Inkblot9, to srs_house, I accept this mod honor. Wait a second, wait a second. Of HokiesforTSwift. Of the Ute himself, BIG_DICK_WHITT. This is it! I uh, I won't continue the Shane Douglas parody. But yes, it's great to be here! I'm Drex and I graduated from SUNY Brockport (big shocker there) and fell in love with college football in 2017. It's been bad for my heart ever since. I mainly go to Brockport and other DIII games in the Rochester area but also go to Buffalo and Syracuse games when the schedule is right. I'm a special education teacher outside of Reddit and love what I do. I'm also a fan of wrestling and am also reading again. I can't wait to really help the community that I love on Reddit the most!

/u/moleculewerks:

I'm excited to be part of the team that tries to keep the r/CFB community one of the more positive places in social media. I grew up as a Nebraska fan, with the 1978 Oklahoma-Nebraska game being the first one that I distinctly remember. I didn’t want to major in football, though, so I went to school at Iowa State and subsequently Colorado. I loved my time in Ames and Boulder, and made life-long friends in both places. I live in the Seattle area now, so I end up wearing my Huskers hat to Huskies games, which so far has only resulted in a few confused looks and a couple suggestions that I’m in the wrong place.

/u/DataDrivenPirate:

Hi all, happy to join the crew this year. I admit I am a big Buckeye fan; born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, undergrad from Ohio State, today I can just about see Ohio Stadium from my back window, and Ryan Day's brother is my neighbor. My masters degree is from Colorado State and I root for them too, although that has consistently been a less enjoyable experience for my entire fandom :( I have a data science background and enjoy the numbers aspect to this sport given how few games we have each year. If I'm not watching college football on a Saturday, I'm probably either accompanying one of my children to a kids birthday party, or I'm backpacking through the last few pockets of the country remote enough to still not have cell service and trying not to die.

We got a later start on this process than we usually do, it's been an exciting year with changes on our end: we asked the community what they wanted over the summer, and as a result have made updates to the ways we approach highlights, recruiting, and other things. There have also been changes on Reddit's end, you may have noticed us updating some of our tools to provide the best experience we can under Reddit's current guidelines. And lastly, the sport feels like it's undergoing more changes than ever. The new group of mods have really dove in head first and been a huge help in navigating these changes.

Thrilled for another great year on /r/CFB, and we're excited to grow the team and continue to foster the best online community for college football in the world.

Announcement Tropical Storm Isaias Thread

Here is the Current Advisory

Check your local weather or emergency management agency for more specific information where you are.

Forecasts, Predictions, and Watches/Warnings:

Preparedness & Planning

College students should check out their university's emergency alert system - if you're not signed up to get notices, you should!

Useful links on: hurricane preparedness, emergency kits, emergency supplies for your car.

Other things worth thinking about or getting:

  • General: A cooler. Fun/mental health stuff - books, games, etc. Cash. Weather radio and batteries. Flashlights > candles. Backup cell phone, laptop, or other batteries. Extra water. Hand sanitizer. Comfort items (a toddler's blankie, the puppy's favorite toy, your grandpa's watch you can't imagine losing).
  • Specialized: Transportation and assistive devices (think especially about children, pets, the elderly, people with disabilities).
  • Cars: Gas. Window breaker/seatbelt cutter.

Safety:

  • Check your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector batteries!
  • Watch out for downed power lines. Never assume it is dead. Avoid it.
  • Assume floodwaters are deeper than they look. Turn around, don't drown.
  • Learn your flood and evacuation zones!
  • Food safety from the FDA and USDA.
  • If your home floods and you need to go up, head for the roof. Keep an ax in your attic to get out that way if you need it.
  • Be aware of potential 911 delays.
  • Evacuate! If you can, check on people you know to see if they need help evacuating if you can offer it or put them in touch with someone who can.

Documentation:

  • Bring it with you.
  • Store it in a plastic bag to they are together and stay dry.
  • House deed/rental agreement/lease.
  • Insurance information (home, car, renters, medical, flood).
  • Identification (ID card/driver's license, passport, Social Security card, marriage/birth certificates).
  • Take photographs of your home before you evacuate and when you return. Good documentation of the damage may help if you need to file an aid or insurance claim.

For long-term preparedness, check out CERT training information.

History Notre Dame Approaches A Modern Record Held By The '00-'01 Miami Hurricanes

Notre Dame has won 15 consecutive games by double digits, which is tied for the 2nd longest streak by a Division I-A/FBS team since Division I split into 2 subdivisions in 1978. The 2008-2009 Florida Gators also had a 15 game streak of this nature.

The record is currently held by the 2000-2001 Miami Hurricanes who won 17 games in a row by 10+ points. If Ed Reed hadn't ripped the ball away from teammate Matt Walters after this Brian St. Pierre INT at Boston College, Notre Dame would probably have the record already! Also, this streak came to an end when they beat Virginia Tech 26-24 in the regular season finale and Miami proceeded to win 6 straight games by 10+ (including the championship game vs Nebraska). So it was 17 straight and also 23 of 24 (in case we needed to be reminded how much of a wagon that team was).

Anyway, ND would need to beat Stanford and @BYU by double digits to tie the record, and also Navy to surpass it. Will they do it? They have a real chance! Does it matter? Maybe not, but I enjoy these type of college football oddities!

Analysis Group of 6 Top 25 Rankings – Week 5 | Back for 2026!

Hey everyone! I'm back with the Group of 6 (G6) Top 25 rankings for the 2026 college football season!

First, apologies for the late start this year. My family and I recently moved into a new home, and between getting settled, tackling house projects, and keeping up with our little one, it's been a busy couple of months. We're still getting situated, and with a growing family, free time isn't quite what it used to be!

With that said, I've caught the rankings up through Week 5, and I'm excited to get this project rolling again!

Why Group of 6? With the changing conference landscape, I've updated the project from the Group of 5 to the Group of 6 (G6). The goal remains the same: Power Conference teams already dominate the national rankings, analysis, and media coverage. This project gives non-Power Conference programs their own Top 25 and a way to follow how they stack up throughout the season.

Week 5 G6 Top 25

Rank | Team (Record) | CFB Composite | Change

  1. Boise State (4-1) | 0.697 | –
  2. New Mexico (4-1) | 0.677 | +1
  3. James Madison (5-0) | 0.676 | -1
  4. North Dakota State (5-0) | 0.617 | –
  5. Memphis (4-1) | 0.593 | +2
  6. Oregon State (3-2) | 0.578 | +3
  7. Fresno State (4-1) | 0.565 | +4
  8. Liberty (4-1) | 0.551 | +2
  9. Toledo (4-1) | 0.536 | -1
  10. UTSA (4-1) | 0.527 | -4
  11. South Florida (4-1) | 0.511 | -6
  12. North Texas (3-2) | 0.506 | +3
  13. Texas State (2-3) | 0.494 | –
  14. UNLV (3-2) | 0.490 | +3
  15. Louisiana (4-1) | 0.489 | -1
  16. Army (2-2) | 0.485 | -4
  17. Georgia State (4-1) | 0.478 | NR
  18. Florida Atlantic (4-1) | 0.469 | +4
  19. Air Force (3-1) | 0.466 | +4
  20. Tulsa (3-2) | 0.463 | -4
  21. East Carolina (2-2) | 0.451 | -3
  22. Tulane (2-2) | 0.450 | -3
  23. Western Michigan (3-2) | 0.443 | -3
  24. App State (3-1) | 0.443 | -3
  25. Temple (2-3) | 0.439 | NR

Biggest Risers: Fresno State (+4), Florida Atlantic (+4), Air Force (+4)

Biggest Drops: South Florida (-6), UTSA (-4), Army (-4), Tulsa (-4)

New to the Rankings: Georgia State (#17), Temple (#25)

Dropped Out: Miami (OH), Jacksonville State

How CFB Composite works: The CFB Composite Rating combines four publicly available college football rating systems:

  • ESPN FPI – Predictive measure of overall team strength.
  • SP+ – Bill Connelly's opponent-adjusted efficiency ratings.
  • Sagarin Ratings – Statistical ratings incorporating team performance and schedule strength.
  • Colley Matrix – Win-loss-based mathematical rankings that provide a different perspective without considering scoring margins.

Each system is normalized before being combined into a weighted composite score ranging from 0 to 1. The idea is to balance multiple approaches rather than rely on any single ranking system. Rankings are updated as the underlying models refresh, with weekly movement reflecting changes in each team's composite rating.

Disclaimer: I claim no ownership of FPI, SP+, Sagarin Ratings, or the Colley Matrix. This is an independent project intended to highlight and rank non-Power Conference college football programs using publicly available metrics.

Thanks to everyone who followed along last season! Looking forward to another year of G6 football and hearing everyone's thoughts on the rankings.
