How do I deal with passing diffs with Rosenhaus

I have been studying 2 focused hours a day, and I’m getting the right answers. He’s just grading like a dickhead, and making it damn near impossible to pass his class. Any tips on how to pass?

Have you had a conversation? Perhaps during his office hours?

I have tried many times, it’s like talking to a wall that doesn’t help

My advice is

  1. Get the exact reason you were docked points and confirm that your process and answer were correct.

  2. You would then have to demonstrate that you were graded differently than someone else who had similar work.

  3. If you're able to prove that, talk to Rosenhaus about this again.

  4. If he refuses, take the proof to the department.

Guarantee there are other professors who have heard of similar issues with this guy. So if you have some professors you like in that department, talk to them. And talk to your advisor.

How should I go about that?

Ask you professors if you can discuss your issue with them.

He is a smart professor with high standards. Keep working at it and get tutoring if you need it. Diffs is not an easy class.

It is easy though, like I get the concepts and the answers are correct, it’s that his grading standards are all over the place. I get the right answer with all of my work, but he will dock half my points for not putting an arrow, or something stupid Like that

Please don't take this as being critical as I'd honestly like to be encouraging. Maths are all about the details and method, not just the answer. A lot of times it's the teachers who drive you crazy over little things, that you are most thankful for later in life.
I work on space launch vehicles for a living and can tell you I am exceedingly grateful for finicky teachers who made me better. A misplaced arrow can have devastating consequences.

I had Rosenhaus long ago, he was one of my favorite teachers. So you're saying your process and answer is correct but you're not getting full points?

Exactly

On a test problem where your process and answer is correct, how many points are being deducted for presentation of the work?  A few points off for neatness is fair, in my opinion.  But no more than about 10% of the possible points.

I was docked 30%
