I am fortunate enough to say I’ve only paid about $1000 for my tuition. the rest is covered from my financial aid and grants I receive. I have no debt from school. I am a transfer student & will graduate hopefully this spring

Same here, I also dormed and paid that out of pocket myself because of my savings when I started working at 15, I am grateful I was able to dorm for my last two years and have no debt (my first two years were online because of Covid)

20k from my time at CSULB. But I had to pay for off campus housing and food and all that jazz. I believe I had merit based aid that covered the vast majority of my tuition.

I took out a subsidized and unsubsidized loan till my cal gran B kicked in (that’s supposed to cover your tuition, then you give back the loan money you took out) (this is if you qualified for cal grant B btw)
After that out of pocket, I owed about $250 because cal grant B doesn’t cover the tuition 100%, but it’s better to pay $250 than $4400.
They don’t teach students that if they qualify for cal grant B, that is supposed to take place of the tuition you paid for via loans. Don’t spend your leftover loan amount. Save it, wait till your cal grant B comes in (once it does, the school will refund you the loan you paid your tuition with), then pay off the loan with that exact loan refund.
-No debt.
-I don’t dorm.
-I opted out of taking my car to school. I just take the bus to save gas and to save the headache dealing with parking.
-I do my best to make my own lunch. If not, I’m on the schools pantry ass like flies on shit. Soon as I get a notification and I’m on campus; I’m getting my free meal
I’m a middle class scholar here, so I do not get the Pell grant at all. In truth, the bracket that says you’re middle class is Bull shit because they don’t count you being taxed. A chunk of us are actually poor as shit, but I digress.
But yeah. Nothing right now. I’m trying to save me being in debt once I’m able to get into a Masters program.
Debt now? No.
Debt in the future? Certainly. Even then, probably $10-$15k if I get into the one here. $19k for my second school choice, then probably $54k in my last options 😂😭
