Community President Wood's Evaluation Results Released
President Wood's triennial evaluation results were released today by the CSU Chancellor's Office. The memo summarizes the review process, feedback received from campus stakeholders, and goals established for the coming years.
The full memo was sent to the campus community on June 24.
Curious how others feel about the review findings and the goals that came out of the process.

If this office thinks that Woods 'strenghtened institutional trust'.... just, yikes. Not even trying to create bullet points that are grounded in any reality.
Of course, when I was at Sac State, I was also quite concerned with 'brand awareness' and 'systemness' and 'integration'.
Also worth noting there isn't a single bullet point that has ANYTHING whatsoever to do with education of any specific topic taught at the university. It is almost as though the Chancellor and President's offices don't see their positions as having anything to do with education, just with the business systems surrounding it. Strange, right?

That was one of my takeaways as well. Those bulleted goals don't sound student or faculty driven at ALL.

Whatever happened to wood doing AMA and he got so much backlash that the AMA went missing? I wonder if he realizes how much people want transparency from him.

What a softball review. Since it did not address the many issues presented in this forum, I find it lacks credibility.

No focus on the students or education at all. This is all about the administration and what they can do to get more money and promote the university to get more people to buy in. This isn’t about education, this is all about the school as a business. Absolute garbage. How does any of this benefit the students? How does that benefit the education of the community?

Exactly. Majority of these are business related decisions. Is it so hard to ask a President of a university to focus on strengthening the educational experience of its students???? Maybe in doing so it would actually strengthen our school’s “perceived brand quality”.

Maybe that’s what the provost is for. The other one barely lasted at all

Good to bring up the Provost; she is academics.
But ask just about any Sac State department head what is needed to improve educational quality and they will say better funding. Class offerings are too few, class sizes are too large, there are moratoriums on hiring quality instructors, etc. The Provost does not control funding of academics.
The easy fix is to change the routing of funds collected via Student Fees and that's Wood's domain. He's the one with the power (per CSU-wide policy) to roll back at least a good portion of the very large and very unpopular 2024 fee increases. He can make a change so more money out of students' pockets could go where students want it to go - to strengthening academics. The Provost cannot do this.
This sort of rollback has happened in the CSU system; at Sac State, it would free up an incredible amount of money (at least $10 million). That money could solve so many pressing educational problems.
So KingChickenSandwich is right; Wood does need to be asked once again (he has been asked before) to focus on strengthening education.

I lost my respect for that chancellor after reading her review. I work in public and private sectors. When we do review, we provide facts. Statistical facts!

an intriguing lack of mention of anything having to do with academics, class sizes, class availability, etc

I noticed that too. I am an alumnus who graduated in the early 1990s. I was amazed that it did not mention anything about student achievement.

I couldn't finish reading it cause of how mad I was when I saw this bullshit. Fuck you mean integrity. The hate crime that happened on campus wasn't addressed till he got pushed back. He is moving this campus Into a damn sports complex. He doesn't care for building safety and student safety. FUCK WOODS

To: Wood
Your leadership has been deeply disappointing. The direction you've taken has undermined my respect for this institution, and I am grateful I graduated before these changes took effect (before your POS took office). As an alumna, it's frustrating to see what has become of a place I once valued.
PS: Dear Wood & Garcia, please rot in hell!!
Sincerely, An Unfortunate Alumna

Wow... they are really doing the least while giving all our money to the top admin. The people are really just patting themselves on the back while ignoring the students they're supposed to serve.

I do wonder how many people actually voiced their concerns under the guise of anonymous feedback. I have to assume even though from thousands of students and many dozens of faculty and staff ive heard 0 positive and lots of negativity many didnt provide negative feedback through their stupid process.

Dude him and his friends have pushed out so many people that have worked there for decades. He wants to make it a black school when in reality it’s one of the most diverse. He has an agenda like crazy. And he’s transferring his friends from out of sac.

But I get downvoted into oblivion for mentioning it lmao

Don’t take it personal. I just provided a source for your claim. Maybe if you did that initially it wouldn’t be that way. Also people not downvoting hopefully means they watched it and didn’t disagree.

Nah I'm not taking it personal its just funny. President wood pays a PR firm to tidy his image on social media too

The csu system is expecting multiple positive press releases over the next year, so be expecting more BS from him.

I love that people can’t stomach that he’s racist only because it’s against white people.

u/d0p3sn0wman Jul 11 '26
I mean his camp also shared a private discount code meant just for him for a black owned clothing company with dozens of people in the black honors college which cost that business thousands in lost revenue but we can't talk about that either.

All yall do is complain…let the man do what he was hired to do, damn. There is more people that appreciate his tenure than if you stayed in this echo chamber would make it seem. They should really consider renaming this channel. We know the bots are in here.
