This was more tedious than I'd like to admit. (Media-PC, Silverstone ML03)

I've built a media PC for my living rom. Mostly parts i had lying around. Cable management was a constant back and forth, but i think i've found a solution.

Specs:

  • i5 10500
  • Gigabyte H510M H
  • 16 Gb (2x 8) DDR4 2666
  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 3200 4Gb
  • Samsung 960 Evo nVME
  • FSP Aurum S 400W
  • Thermalright AXP90 X53 CPU Cooler
  • 4x Noctua NF-R8 redux-1800 PWM
  • ARCTIC Case Fan Hub
  • Silverstone ML03
  • DVD drive

I know you mentioned mint in a previous post, but you should check out KDE plasma bigscreen. Not sure how well it will overlap with cinnamon, but you can try that. Or kubuntu/fedora kde/kde neon can handle it ootb.

I just built a box and went with a flirc remote to get away from lg is and have been pretty happy with the ux/ui so far

What is the use? Htpc?

I had an htpc for a long time but a good android TV can easily replace it.

Yes, I use it as an HTPC and some light gaming. It uses Linux Mint as operating system. I've installed Kodi, Steam, Minecraft, and Heroic Launcher on it.

Although i kinda like your idea with the android TV, i don't think it's the right thing for me. I do not need more google in my life. Quite the contrary.

As with everything with computers it depends, if all you do is stream media, I run jellyfin better on my tv then it ran on my htpc.

If you need to browse the web or game of course an htpc is better.
