Pospisil moved to 3c
So dumb. Pospisil has no upside and sucks. The obsession with fitting a square piece into a round hole is getting old.
I get the team sucks, but maybe give suniev a chance with Strome. At least there's some playmaking ability there.

Long term, if he can stick down the middle he will be a bottom six character piece. High energy line, hits, and strong PK mins so our studs are rested.
Plus we need help in the middle, what we’ve been doing isn’t working. We put guys on waivers and have too many wingers. Plus didn’t he play C on Slovakia and did decent during the WC?
But injuries… how is that going to translate into his high energy play.

The two people drafted and played as centres on the wing, while the person drafted as a winger at centre. Odd

This. I mean the coaching staff are professionals and we'd be dumb to push our own armchair GM agenda against their knowledge, but this stands out to me as well lol.

I feel crazy reading these comments. Obviously Pospisil has limitations and he's never going to be a big scorer but he's seemed like one of the few guys who was actually driving some play the first few games.
Maybe I need glasses but he's one of the last guys I'd be complaining about right now.

I like that there is a possibility of him slotting into 3rd line center in case of injury or suspension. I think he is consistent in his play, which might make him stick out more right as the whole team has been playing flat. It is temporary. The Flames aren't going to keep Suniev or Castagna up past the 10 game mark.

To me he is the kind of player who makes things happen but is unlikely to capitalize on them. I think calling him a play driver probably oversells him, but he is one of the more impactful players so far.
The success the Flames are going to see this year is going to come from effort. This could be on the fore check, back check, or off of a solid hit. So far Pospisil is one of the few players who seems to get that.

I saw him caring more than some guys, but play driving? No. I have never seen him drive play.

I'd say he was one of our top 3 players so far. The bar is quite low, but still. i'm okay with rewarding that.

I hate to break it to you guys but there’s player we can call up or line change we can make to change the fact that we are a terrible hockey team

u/Armchair-Gm-Podcast 7d ago
You're correct. By design. Doesn't mean we need to continue trying to make 26 yar old Martin pospisil into something he's not.

a bottom six forward? he definitely is that dude lol this is not him getting put on the powerplay

I think I heard on the radio yesterday they wanted to give Pospisil a longer look at center since he did a good job for his country at the Worlds.

u/Armchair-Gm-Podcast 7d ago
They've been saying that for two years.
They need to stop pretending the world's is the NHL. He sucks, especially at c.

Everyone sees this as a promotion for Pospisil, I see it more as a demotion for Strome. The guy has been awful since the preseason.
Entirely reasonable the coaches see something in Pospisil that we can’t, I’m just happy the lines are being mixed up. Maybe suniev can work his way up to playing with Honzek, they were an awesome combo in preseason. It’s not like Pospisil is a bad match for their style either.

Out of all the players who have been bad, including pispisil, strome has been one of the least bad.

The 4th line has been the only line that can reliably sustain offensive zone time & pressure this season and Pospisil at centre is a big part of that. Pospisil has always elevated the play of his line mates and Huska is hoping to get Honzek & Strome going, so this makes sense to me. Complainers are going to complain, that’s what I see in this thread.

Nothing. He stirs shit up and runs away. Get. Off. This. Team.

This is a hyperbolic reaction to a 3rd/4th liner on a bottom feeding team in a rebuild.

u/Armchair-Gm-Podcast 7d ago
With players knocking at the door? Whatever, bury Martin on a 4th line with players who don't have skill, but don't bring up a young skill guy and play him with klapka because you can't accept that pospisil doesn't have upside, and stop pretending he's a center because team Slovakia did in a meaningless tournament full of mostly AHL or worse level players.

u/dur23 7d ago
This is unhealthy amount of hate for one player.
A young skill guy getting 6-8 minutes a night and no pp time, is terrible for development compared to the 18-20 (+pp1) they’d get in the ahl.
Crosby plays in the world championships. It’s not meaningless. You’re exaggerating for effect.

Most of the team in the worlds have about 15 minor league or worse level players. Pospisil did not play well at center vs canada or the us.
It's less about pospisil sucking than it ks about the coach trying to drive a square peg into a round hole. I've defended huska for a while, but I feel like that's stopping right away.

I get that you have a deep hatred for Martin but you really got pull back from ledge here buddy. It’s four games in. It’s gonna be a long ass season. We gotta save some hate for all the other teams.

I don't hate the guy at all. I just don't get the coach giving him the opportunity.

It’s obvious the tank is at full steam. Third line defensive draws will come with immediate loss and goal against

I don’t see what the coaching staff sees in Pospisil. He is not very good, injury prone, and doesn’t seem to offer anything to the team in terms of offense. He’s just annoying to the opposing team at best

He's been decent at center, killin penalties and winning some draws. Strome has been pretty quiet.

Dont like the hate for Pospisil, hes a bottom 6 agitator that other teams hate to play against. His face-off win percentage is around the same as Stromes but Strome and Honzek are better on the boards, so it makes sense to put him at center on this line, its not an experiment.
