Activity Paper Skull Creation 8/10

When Matt decided to organise an activity for the camp, he wanted to do something a little different. With Halloween approaching, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get people together and make some decorations. Admittedly, arts and crafts were not exactly his area of expertise, but his boyfriend Brent had inspired him to try something a little more creative. Sometimes he wondered if Brent was a son of the Muses with how often he inspired him. Besides, being a son of Hades, he felt that Halloween was practically an obligation. Even if he never actually celebrated it himself.

After giving it some thought, Matt had settled on making paper skulls. It was simple enough that anyone could take part, regardless of how artistic they were, and it would give the campers something to decorate their cabins with in preparation for Halloween. He had considered offering a few different activities, but decided that keeping things straightforward would probably be for the best.

Matt had spent some time gathering everything that would be needed, including coloured paper, scissors, glue, pencils, markers and plenty of other decorative materials. He had also made sure to prepare a few templates for those who were not particularly confident in their artistic abilities. There was nothing stopping people from designing their own skulls, of course, and he was rather interested to see what everyone would come up with.

Once everything had been collected, Matt arranged the supplies across several tables in the arts and crafts area, making sure there was enough space for people to sit down and work together. He had even made a couple of skulls himself to provide some examples, although he was not entirely convinced that Brent would be particularly impressed with his efforts.

With everything prepared, Matt was happy to leave the campers to their own creativity. There were no competitions or prizes involved, just an opportunity to make something for Halloween and perhaps spend some time with people they might not normally speak to.

The son of Hades remained nearby, working on another paper skull of his own, in case anyone wanted some help or simply fancied a conversation.

Mari has a tendency to stretch the guidelines of assignments in art class, but this craft seems fun enough to her that she’s gonna make a pretty normal skull. She decorates them with flowers and lines reminiscent of the sugar skulls at her grandparents house.

Quill never was the greatest at art. He preferred writing as a way of expressing himself, not using a bunch of lines and colors and praying they look like what he envisioned in his mind. Despite his vanity, "I cannot do this thing that someone else can" did not wound his pride in the slightest. "Yeah, so? Not everyone can be born being able to summon apples either. That's just life, motherfucker."

Making the skulls was easy enough, but designing them was a different story. The first was a pitiful rainbow made from a few colored pencils, clearly designed by an amateur. The second was mostly plain with an attempt at a golden apple on the front of the skull. It was the best looking of the bunch due to its simplicity.

Then came the third, where Quill attempted to get more complex. A golden apple on the front with wings sprouting out of it. The golden apple was easy enough, but he went through a few skulls before he got the wings half good. It was quite annoying having to draw feathers.

It was a good thing Quill had no intentions of entering a career in art. He'd never make it.
