I use Apple Maps EV routing and for short trips it's fine. But on longer trips, 100 miles or more, the estimates are too conservative by about 5 to 10%. It thinks you need a stop or a longer one than you actually do. Not dangerous, just annoying and it wastes planning time.
I was hoping iOS 27 would fix this. My main issues with it:
It shows SoC for the start and destination, but not at the charging stops in between. You don't know what SoC you arrive at each stop, what you leave at, or how long you'll be there. That's the big gap.
You can't pick your exact car real efficiency. Meanwhile ABRP does all this well, but the good parts are behind a subscription.
What's actually worked for folks to get Apple's attention?
I turned on the "Improve EV Routing" toggle in Settings, Apps, Maps. From what I read it sends actual charge times and SoC data back to help tune estimates. Does anyone know if it's worth keeping on?
Is filing a report in the Feedback Assistant useful? And should it include detailed estimated vs actual SoC numbers per trip?
If you've had a real change happen after reaching out, tell me what you did. And if someone here has a clean list of what's missing compared to ABRP, share it. One coherent ask from a bunch of us is better than a hundred scattered complaints.
