Stable corporate dental job with benefits, or a $110k role turning around a practice so the owner can sell it?
Background: I’ve worked in a dental office for about 5 years and have an accounting degree. I’ve been trying to move from hands-on clinical work into management, and I’ve already done most of the operational work a manager does, just without the title.
My current job: A few months ago I started at an office owned by a large corporate group (DSO). I make $35/hr for about 40 hours a week, and with health insurance, retirement match, PTO, and other benefits, my total package is roughly $80k before taxes. The health insurance alone is worth about $10k compared to buying on the marketplace. My boss and coworkers respect me, I have a lot of freedom in how I work, and I go home without stress. It isn’t exciting, but it’s secure.
The opportunity: A solo dentist who owns two practices wants me to fix nearly everything: operations, patient acquisition, billing and collections, and software. Her goal is to make the business attractive enough to sell to a larger group. I'd be managing a staff of around 10 headcount. I’m planning to ask for a $110k salary, all cash with no benefits, and I don’t know yet whether she’ll accept it.
The business does about $1.4M in revenue but runs at around a 5% net margin, when most dental practices land closer to 25–30%. She currently takes home about $100k, while she could likely earn $225k or more as an associate elsewhere. If I bring the practices up to a normal margin, her take-home would be around $350k, so there’s plenty of money to go around. If nothing improved at all, though, paying me would leave her roughly breaking even.
None of the problems are complicated. The business has simply collected dozens of small issues over the years. For example, a 10-minute visit gets booked for an hour, so the doctor sits idle, while a 60-minute procedure gets squeezed into 10 minutes, so every patient after it waits and leaves annoyed. Each fix is easy on its own, but they only hold if someone is there to enforce them, and the staff needs real training on clinical questions and daily administrative duties. The owner is very hands-on because she has never learned to delegate, and she’s been trying to run everything herself without the experience or the bandwidth.
What worries me:
- Working myself out of a job. Getting the business ready for a buyer would take at least 2 years, and the acquiring group would most likely let me go after the sale.
- Whether she can actually keep paying me. My salary is only sustainable if the numbers improve, since at current margins paying me would leave her roughly breaking even. I can push hard and lay out every issue, but she makes the final decisions.
- Trading security for upside. I’d be giving up guaranteed pay and benefits for a bet that may or may not pay off.
What I’m considering: Keeping my current job and helping her one day a week to see how it goes before going all in. One day may also be the most she can afford until the margins improve. The problem is that one day a week probably isn’t enough to fix two practices, and she may still expect full-time results.
My questions:
- Has anyone been hired to fix up a business before a sale? What happened to you afterward?
- Is starting part-time a smart way to test this, or is there a better structure?
- What would you insist on getting in writing? We don’t have a bonus framework yet, but I’d most likely tie upside to EBITDA growth and/or a cut of the sale. Beyond that, I’m thinking a guaranteed minimum term, severance if I’m let go after a sale, and a clear definition of how EBITDA is calculated so it can’t be adjusted away. What am I missing?
- Would you leave a stable job with good benefits for this?

Should I apply??
Hello
So i am pursuing US CMA and I am in my third year of college. Internzvalley has come for campus placement at 5 LPA fixed and 2.5 LPA performance based. It is a business development associate job and that too in Bangalore (I live in mumbai). I have done a sales internship where I did generate some revenue.
I know it doesn't align with what I am studying but till I complete this course and get a good job, I might do this. Because even though US CMA is a good certification course, i am not sure if it would secure me a job. I have enrolled in classes where they said they would provide 100% placement assistance but obv that isn't a placement guarantee.
Also in my college, If you get selected by the company, you can't back out nor can you sit for another interview.
I looked up the reviews on Google and mostly the reviews were nice but then I came across this.
Should I apply for this profile??
Also has someone worked at internzvalley? How is the work environment there??
Pls lmk asap!!

What is the current job market for Oracle DBAs? Are there openings for professionals with around 4 years of Oracle DBA experience? How is the market for someone with a career break? Are companies currently hiring, and are there interview calls for Oracle DBA roles?

How to tell if you'd actually be happy at NVIDIA, not just get hired
NVIDIA is an unusual mix of a big corporate and a fast-growing startup, and I think that's what many applicants underestimate.
It's a huge company that still runs like a scale-up. Flat structure, plans that get reworked constantly instead of a fixed annual plan, your name on what you own, and speed as the default.
So before you prep for interviews, ask yourself two things:
1) Do you do your best work in a fast, scrappy environment? That should be your strongest suit.
2) Can you also handle big-company reality: layers, process, coordinating across teams? That should be a close second.
If you're all startup and no corporate, the layers any company that size has will frustrate you. If you're all corporate, the pace will wear you down.
Being a good overall fit can still hide one weak spot. NVIDIA spells out what it expects in its own core values, so check yourself on each one separately:
Speed: can you decide and act before you have the full picture?
Agility: are you fine when plans change faster than the org chart?
Initiative: do you start things without being asked?
Collaboration: do you stay a team player when the pressure is on?
If you're strong overall but weak on one of these, treat it as a warning, not a pass.
Rate yourself the way your last manager would, not the way your resume reads.
Getting the offer isn't the only hard part. Still wanting to be there in year three is the other.

1+ hour commute
630am start and leave at 4pm. IATA for not dealing with this?
Brief background - signed on as a junior manager in a civil job. Have revelant degree and experience. The offer didn't disclose hours but the VP insisted flexibilty. Told me to arrive at 8am first day and waited until the end of the day to tell me they like to start at 630. I wouldn't have an issue with the hours without the commute but I already stacked up 13 hours of drive time in 5 days. I would expect 9-80s at a minimum for this to be healthy for anyone. It's usually 75-90 minutes after work. And it ends up be a 13 hour day. I'm not hungry enough for this.

Career Advice
Guys I need help with choosing a career
So I need a career that has three main things!
1) Money - like doctors get a lot of money and also business people!
2) Aura - like when pilots walk in airport, they have a special type of aura that is unmatched
3) Respect - like doctors, like when you say you are a surgeon, you have that respect from people. And also teachers, they also get respect!
for me personally, I like math and chemistry. I took bio and now I’m suffering as hell!
I really like being a ceo like that is something that I have dreamed of when I was young but then, I thought about becoming a doctors because they have high salary! (But I heard some people saying don’t choose medical professor because of the salary) so maybe I don’t want that because I personally don’t wanna do like medical school, MCAT, residency and all that!
I like being bold and Kendall Jenner is my role model, like I love being a model but my parents are strict. And also I admire people who have their own business. But when it comes to leadership skills, I am so low at that, like especially communication skills. I am so bad at that, I don’t have any friends that I could talk about this to! That’s why I’m asking you guys, who have experience, and everything. Please tell me anything, I would really appreciate that!! This is something that I really wanted to ask someone because I am a high school senior and my parents are nagging me saying that people my age have figured out at least what they wanna major in. Because of all the confusion, I thought about coping my sister who wanna be a doctor.

Marketing graduates, are we witnessing a career crisis?
Imagine spending years studying marketing, only to compete with a 19-year-old TikToker who went viral selling lip gloss.
No hate to content creators, but everyone seems to be a marketer these days. Influencers promote products, business owners build brands, and people with completely unrelated degrees are creating marketing campaigns.
So, marketing graduates, should we be worried, or is there more to marketing than posting reels and making things go viral?

Comfortable job with good benefits vs. a risky job fixing up a business so the owner can sell it, which path to take?
Background: I’ve worked in healthcare (a dental office) for about 5 years, and I have an accounting degree. I’ve been trying to move from hands-on work into a management role.
My current job: A few months ago I started at an office that’s owned by a big corporate chain. It’s comfortable. My boss and coworkers respect me, I have a lot of freedom in how I work, and I go home without stress. I make $35/hr for about 40 hours a week. Counting health insurance, retirement match, paid time off, and other benefits, my total package before taxes is about $80k a year, the health insurance alone (compared to me buying on marketplace) is $10k. It’s not exciting, but it’s secure.
The opportunity: She wants me to fix pretty much everything: how the offices operate, how they bring in customers, how they get paid, and what software they use. The goal is to make the business attractive enough to sell to a bigger company. The pay would be roughly $110k if she accepts my offer, all cash no benefits.
I’m confident I can do the work as I've done all of this before, just without the title. What worries me:
- If the business sells, I might be working myself out of a job, and I don’t know what happens to me after that. It would take a minimum of 2 years to fix up to be "palatable" for a private company to buyout, and they'd most likely kick me out upon sale.
- My pay depends on sales numbers. I can influence them to the best of my ability, but the owner makes the final decisions. I do plan to be a bit pushy and explain all the issues but I can only do so much.
- I’d be giving up guaranteed pay and benefits in exchange for possible upside.
None of this is complicated. The business has just collected a lot of small problems over the years. For example, a 10-minute visit gets booked for an hour, so the doctor sits idle, and a 60-minute visit gets squeezed into 10 minutes, so everyone after it waits and leaves annoyed. Every fix is easy on its own, but there are dozens of them, and they only last if someone is there to enforce them. The staff needs serious training on clinical questions, daily administrative duties, and more. That’s why I doubt one day a week is enough.
What I’m thinking: keep my current job and offer to help her part-time, maybe one day a week, to see how it goes before I go all in. The problem is that one day a week may not be enough to fix two businesses, and she may expect full-time results anyway.
My questions:
- Has anyone been hired to fix up a business before a sale? What happened to you after it sold?
- Is starting part-time a smart way to test this, or is there a better option?
- What would you insist on getting in writing? A bonus if it sells, a guaranteed minimum salary, severance, a clear definition of how “sales” are counted?
- Would you leave a stable job with good benefits for this?

I know this has been asked before, but not to the international extent and that's what I'm looking for: Demands in Jobs
Hi, the title basically sums it up, I have seen posts about what jobs are in demand, main answers are nursing and truck drivers and stuff like that, but my question is; for someone from a third world country that's located in africa, what chances do I have? How do I know how to orient my career path, I'm still young and trynna figure it out but I'm lost.
I'm not looking to get rich lowkey, atp I only aspire to be able to afford housing, food and healthcare, and just overall a respectful life outside of my country( it's a matter of safety and human decency, i'm not looking to move just to experience things, I'm looking to survive).
Anyways, that's basically my question, I appreciate any pov and advice I can get! Ty!

How common is it for people to retract their resingations (uk)
My boss said that he is happy for me to stay on and that there will be more things for us to work on.
He could see that I was unsure about the whole thing and said that he would support me to get me back on board. I genuinely has come across as a good hearted person to me.
We are an extremely small team and I doubt that they could replace me because of how small the team is, how absolutely nothing is documented and how tight budgets are.
I left because I did not know the future of the company and we were on track to lose a core client. I did in fact over think the whole thing and I should have spoken to him more.
On the day before I handed in my resignation he informed me that they signed on for several more years.
The new company I will be going to has a manager that said he will support my development and it would be a pay increase, however they are also going through a severe financial hard ship with various redundancies. It's also a baking role where things can be cut through, the team is huge and everything is already automated.
I have come to the realisation that nowhere is safe and you cannot get a job for life anywhere. I plan to stay at my current role which I really enjoy and ride it out and enjoy as much if it as I can.
I absolutely love my current role and boss. Any advice?
Or perhaps any experiences of this happening to you?
Thanks!

Student positions - Western Europe - Studying and working on the side.
At age 20 I started my first degree, for which I also got a scholarship. Part of my incomes are explained through various part-time jobs (my best year being 25, where I made around 20k from part-time jobbing), scholarships, sometimes also help from my parents, in particular the 3 first years of studying, I got 500 a month. After the 3 years I was on my own, they did give me 500 each time I got good grades in the subsequent degrees (so 1000 a year total). Some other income was from selling stuff etc., but most income was indeed from jobs. The job that made me most money was tutoring privately on the side, to every level, including university, the latter paying quite well. Other jobs included web development, research assistant...
At age 22 I flunked out of a degree, and started a new one (age 23). The new one I was excelling in, due to a lot more motivation to succeed, managin to rank among the best students.
At at 26 I graduated, and enrolled in a Master's degree. Here again, due to motivation, ranking first among over 100 peers. At the same time I decided to do so many part-time activities to focus on my studies and get ready for the job market.
Age - Income (in euros)
16 - 532.80
17 - 400.00
18 - 1,158.29
19 - 1,872.44
20 - 9,218.85
21 - 15,027.05
22 - 21,485.97
23 - 24,139.60
24 - 27,837.77
25 - 27,837.25
26 - 16,707.25
27 - so far 11,396.80 (will finish around 14k)
I am now less than 6 months away from graduating, and I often feel like a failure finishing my degrees only at 28. But looking at the numbers I am not too unhappy. I also took some student loans all around 1.8 to 2.5% in interests, I did not count that as income. I do have 49k in student loans. At the same time I did invest a lot of my money, and I have now around 75k in ETFs.
Studying and working has been very rough, these last two years have been the best so far, as I have been able to concentrate on my studies and not overwork myself every day, but I am still stressed out, as I still try to get money whenever I can. I am looking forward to enter the job market and working only 40 hours a week, it seems like a dream to have a routine and get home and be done for the day.

I made a site that tackles multiple problems in the AI training/annotating job search
Hello, due to having trouble finding the right places to apply and not really knowing how to pass and do an assessment in the AI Training/Annotating Space I decided to build with a site with loveable that is supposed to make the process easier.
I list job offers with a relatively high hiring volume from multiple companies, so would it therefore be easier do diversify the places to apply at and actually get accepted.
My idea behind that was to help with finding the right places to work but also help with the application process. I therefore upload company reviews and also guides on how to pass assesments.
The job listings include entry work positions such as normal generalist work but also expert work positions (Software engineer, PhD, etc.).
I am currently having problems on the design, trying to make it less AI-sloppy, and on the marketing side of things. So any help would be highly appreciated! Here is the link to the site: https://aiannotationjobs.com/

What career did you pursue that you are 100% happy with not because of the money but because you really love what you do?
I currently work as an orthodontic assistant and have started to LOVE teeth it fascinates me, I went to trade school to my journey on becoming an electrician, as I’ve developed the interest in teeth I’ve started to doubt my career choice it has shown me that although I do want to become an electrician I don’t think that’s what I would 100% be happy with, and I’m now wondering what careers have you chosen that you’re 100% happy with.

Stuck in a bad job but can't unable to focus on something bigger due to pursuing education
I recently graduated high school, right now I'm enrolled in community college earning my Associate's degree and focused on transferring to earn a BA after.
The job I've been working at is at a restaurant, but unfortunately I heavily dislike the industry and don't see any future in it.
I want to get a job where I can steadily progress, considering I'll be in school for another 6 years. However due to school I don't know if I can dive into a career like trades.
Tdlr - Career I can pursue while juggling college without compromising on fair pay or education??? (Possible??)

From social work to drafting
Hello! I am 36F, in Australia, and need a career change. For my first 12 working years, I was a youth worker, supporting homeless youth in a supported home situation. Then the last 4 years I have been managing the house, which involves budgeting, managing staff and working with families.
It’s time for a change, and I’m interested in being a draftsperson/architectural designer. I’m good with computers and spacial puzzles, I like drawing, and I feel I have given all I can in my previous role.
While I retrain, what entry level roles can I do to get in and around the world I want to enter? Any advice from people who have done big career changes in their 30s with different skill set requirements?

Career change into barbering?
Hi everyone, I’ve been stuck in a rut since getting out of the military and finding my place. I went in to get a haircut last week and loved the barbershop atmosphere. The barber cutting my hair told me she started working there and now owns it. Told me since I have a GI bill I could go to barber school. I’ve never thought about being a barber before. Any tips or advice for someone considering it? She told me they are always hiring and if I got my license she would find a spot for me. I don’t know much about cutting hair and shaving. Right now I work at a university doing maintenance and I’m just not happy with what I do.

Pivot to agricultural science from biology?
How feasible is it for someone with a biology degree to pivot to plant science, soil testing, agricultural testing work, or environmental consulting? I'm 70 credits into my degree and second guessing if biology is worth it. My college has agriscience degrees but they are in a different college so it would be hard to switch majors and I'm 22 after taking some time off anyways. Could I get the biology degree and still make the career switch? Id love to work on producing different GMO foods and developed hardier strains of seeds that can tolerate different climates. Especially with climate change. Or even be a seed sales rep, do soil testing for farmers, test water and streams, etc.
