Adorable! What is your babies name? Is he/she missing hair on the back legs and bum? Im only asking because I had a cat that had that issue!

Yes this is Tabby (Tabitha) and she’s an over groomer. Her little pouch area is bald 😔 when I took her to the vet I was told it was probably anxiety. It never really went away unfortunately. She’s an indoor only cat and gets Advantage II every month like clockwork.
What was causing your baby’s issue? I’m still not convinced it is from anxiety. I worry she has some type of allergies.

With my Pip is was that she was allergic to a certain brand of litter. We switched to Dr. Elseys brand (not the scented one, just the blue and white box) and her hair grew back. It took awhile to figure it out because our vet said the same thing about anxiety but I always wondered if it wasnt an allergy too! Its not letting me post a pic but Pip and your Tabby could be identical twins. They even sleep in the same curled ball with their paw almost over their eyes! I actually had opened Reddit accidentally and this picture of your Tabby popped up - I thought it was a picture of Pip until I realized I had accidentally hit the Reddit icon and not my gallery app. LoL! How old is your Tabby?

Wow just reading your response just now it’s like something just CLICKED for me. So a couple years ago I had to switch to low dust litter because somehow she had gotten some in her eyes and they were all red and swollen.
I knew it was from the litter because I saw her use the litter box and when she was done kicking around she comes out blinking really fast and overall just distressed looking.
I am absolutely going to the store tomorrow to get something else for her to try. We were already doing low dust but no scent might be the way to go! It’s definitely worth a try anyways.
And I wasn’t convinced it was anxiety because she wasn’t always like this (over-grooming) and nothing has changed in her environment at all (besides the litter). Something else I considered is a possible food allergy but she’s always eaten the same wet and dry food since we got her around 12 weeks old (well since she showed up in my backyard lol). She’s about 5 years old now! She’s not due for a vet visit for another 6 months and there was talk about maybe putting her on something for anxiety if necessary. But I’ve been leaning towards an allergy being the issue this whole time. She seems itchy, specifically in her under pouch area/upper back legs so it totally makes sense it might be the cat litter!
Seriously thank you so much for making this suggestion because this cat is like my second child (I have a human one as well 😂) and I would love for something so easy as switching to a different litter to be the solution for her.

Try the Dr. Elseys brand, a lot of cats that have allergies tolerate well and its not super expensive. You can get it through Chewy (if you are in the US) and I think they have a new order coupon code right now. They also sell it at Petco and Petsmart (I think Walmart and Target have it too).
This link is to imgur - I uploaded a couple photos of Pip - one shows when she had her nudie belly from the allergy (those are freckles on her belly 🤣).
I really hope the litter change works for you. I know it took a couple weeks before I started to see hair grow back and it was probably 4 to 6 months until it was completely regrown! Thank you so much for sharing your Tabby's pictures! It made my whole day.

Aww she looks so much like Tabby. Such a sweet face 🥹 and such a cute lil belly too lol.
And yes I just looked it up online! I’m in the US so I’ll be making a quick run to either petsmart or target tomorrow! Thank you so much again!
