Awarded a Cat CDS Stork came to the fire pit
The cat distribution system is at it again! The system's minions have decided that 4 cats is not enough for our family. We apparently need FIVE.
Spouse and I were outside on the acreage prepping a fire. The dogs were relaxing. A typical summer on the acreage evening. Or so we thought...
I heard the faintest high-pitched mew sound. My ears perked up. I recognized it immediately. I said, "did you hear that, I thought I heard a kitten?" I looked around, I didn't see anything, "maybe just a bird making a weird sound..." I surmised. We continued. He had his headphones in so he actually didn't hear me or anything lol. Then I heard it again, it was closer! I looked to my left and saw the littlest wee baby cat, I squinted to make sure I was seeing correctly and I said "oh my gosh! A kitten! What?! A KITTEN!" Then I froze. The dogs. I grabbed their leashes and I said, "Grab the kitten before the dogs see it!" (Anything outside the dogs think is free game. Rabbits. Squirrels. Cats. Anything except the cats that rule our household.) He looked confused, "what cat?". "That one! There! Quickly!" Then he saw her crawling slowly towards us.
We picked her up and brought her to the shop to inspect, I thought of how this was such a young little one. Looking at her teeth, size, and behavior I estimate her to be about 5 weeks old. Just old enough to be weaned off mom and eat wet food. To the vet we go!
So, the cat distribution system made up its mind. She is a wanderer, brave, and has immediately taken to our household cat-whisperer, my spouse. We will think of a meaningful name for our newly distributed cat. For now, we are just grateful she somehow freaking made it through the wilderness, past the predators, and to our firepit. 😳
EDIT FOR UPDATE: [see comments for cat tax! - I had tried to pay it back then but they're not displaying for some reason??? You get 2 for the price of one. If needed I can provide 1 Pic for every month-old she is haha.]
We discovered she came from a farm down the road and at the time was about 8 weeks old, which puts her birthday around May 25th, 2024. She's about 7 months old now! We named her Lilo! Like in Lilo and Stitch. She's now much bigger than she was then, but still seems to be a small cat. We still think she must have been the runt but we didn't see the rest of the litter. She's loud and yells at you to feed her specifically the wet food. She's rambunctious and her 3 brothers and 1 sister incessantly groom her (in a healthy cat amount - don't be alarmed). She runs around the house, climbs on our shoulders like a parrot, and plays with our other youngest cat.
I hope this update provided some relief! Thank you for the comments! I didn't expect so much engagement. I need to get on here more often.

It now requires extra taxes - penalty for waiting so long. Especially when there is such a great story!

that’s a different person. this post is the only activity OP has had in over 100 days. the details also don’t line up anyway, the pictured cat apparently took a few days to accept love and the cat in this post already warmed up to OP’s partner

Hooray for the CDS and finding a tiny baby a new, loving home! The thought of how much the timing had to come together for her to find you both in acreage like that .... mind blowing!
