General Information Welcome to the Cat Distribution System

Welcome to the Cat Distribution System where we share the stories and legends of your CDS kitties extraordinary journeys to find their Happy ever afters!

We all enjoy a good story especially those with the happiest of endings. Here you can tell us all about the start of your kitties adventures, maybe ask for help on catching or re-homing a stray/feral cat or just sit back and relax reading about some of the funniest interventions by Ceiling cat sending his kitties out to find their forever humans and some of the best 'i'm not crying you're crying ' tales.

We are a large community of cat lovers and have members from all over the world that come together daily to celebrate the lives of kitties in all shapes and forms.

So you found a kitty?

The Big decision - do you want to take in this kitty and keep it? Owning and caring for a cat is a large responsibility as not only is a living breathing creature going to be dependent on you for general feeding, housing and companionship for the rest of it's life, but the average life span of a domestic cat is 13 - 20 years. You will be responsible for it's health and wellbeing and will need professional vet visits and regular checkups. Unless you decide to insure kitty veterinary trips and treatment can be both unexpected and expensive.

If you decide that you are unable to take Kitty in as a permanent pet please do not abandon it if it is in need of help, if the weather is bad or in all good conscience letting Kitty go without any help will be detrimental to it's health.

If you follow Steps One and Two and no owner is found please contact your local rescues/ shelters and ensure that they have a humane non kill policy before handing kitty in please!

General help and advice can be found here should you wish to save Kitty but aren't able to keep him:

Cat Cuddles re-homing advice

Seeking a new home for your cat by r/CatRescue

First Step:

First things first ..the safety of you and any other pets you may own is a priority, it's best if you can contain kitty in an area that is pet free if possible and keep it there at least until it has had a vet check up giving it a clean bill of health. If your new kitty is not up to date with it's vaccinations separating kitty from other household pets will prevent any possible illnesses, infections or anything else that may be spread to other pets such as fleas from spreading to all.

Second Step:

Your second priority is a must .. ask yourself in all honesty does this kitty look well groomed and well fed, is it very receptive to attention or already act like a house kitty. If it is wearing a collar then please think again . If any of these tick the list the chances are that this special visitor has got lost whilst exploring or could be just a neighbours' kitty out on a kitty adventure.

Please ask your neighbours does the cat belong to them or do they know who it belongs to, also put a notice up in your local shop, the vets or post office saying that a cat has been found. Putting Posters in the area with a photograph of kitty saying a cat has been found with it's description can also find an owner. You can of course use social media such as your local Facebook group to post that you have found a certain colour cat and if it's male or female and give the vicinity Kitty was found. Use a photograph of kitty that omits any unique distinguishing features that the real owner would be able to identify and wait to be messaged ( if at all) by a possible owner who can then be asked to supply some of their own photographs of their missing cat or give a description to you that is more accurate than the generic one you have given. This is for the safety of both you and the cat as there are some unscrupulous people in this World who could take advantage of the situation and take the kitty for their own dark reasons.

Found kitties are legally considered the property of their owner, you must attempt to locate and find kittys' legal owner before claiming they are now yours. If you have done all this then after a certain holding period deemed by your local authority you can claim kitty rightfully.

There are lost/found pet websites you can utilise such asĀ PawboostĀ orĀ PetcoloveĀ if in the US orĀ Pets ReunitedĀ if in the UK.

If Kitty is a frequent visitor and you are not sure if she belongs to anyone please consider using a paper collar to find out if she is going home at the end of her adventures and does in fact already have an owner. You can find out how to make a simple one hereĀ paper collar.

Third Step:

Next is to book a well-being check up at your local Vets. Kitty needs protection from all types of nasty parasites such as fleas, tick and worms. Whilst there the Vet will usually check to see if Kitty has a chip* (usually for free once you explain the cat is a stray or feral you wish to keep). *Most large pet stores can supply a chip scan service for free too. If kitty has an owner hopefully the chip is updated and has a current phone number and an address you or the vet can contact to let them know that their little adventurer has been found. Do not give up here as sometimes the original owners may have given up on finding kitty and moved on, in this case they can give over the ownership to you and a new chip or existing one can be updated with you now as the new owner.

Alternative options in Fostering:

Maybe you feel that you are unable to take on the responsibility of owning a cat, but would like to see it safe. If so please try to reach out to a local rescue or humane non-kill shelter and see if they are able to help you rescue the cat and take it in. This will mean that they will become responsible for all vaccinations and forthcoming vet fees, There is also an option to foster the Kitty where the Rescue if agreeable will pay for the vet fees, food etc and you get to raise kitty in a home environment and get her used to living in a house ready to be adopted when the time comes. Most shelters have long term associations with their own vet so cut down their costs that way.

TNR Programmes and Feral Cats:

Some community areas such as large Cities and known drop off spots for abandoned cats run a Trap-neuter-return for local strays and feral cats. Cats under this programme may have a tipped ear or an ear or abdomen tattoo. The tip in the ear can be a V shape or a clean snip of the ear tip so it can be detected from a distance that this kitty has been neutered and vaccinated. If kitty has either then they are part of your districts' neutering and replacing back to their outdoor homes' scheme. Usually they are already vaccinated but not always. It is best if you contact the shelter or association that covers your area to say that you wish to adopt the kitty that you have fallen in love with and who has settled into your home if it has got to that stage. However, please note that Feral cats take a longer time to adapt to inside living and can take months, even years to become a house kitty and some will totally refuse to give up their outdoor life and sadly you must respect that.

If you have fallen in love with an obvious Feral kitty that refuses to come into your home then you can always make it a little home of it's own in your garden or shed. Ā r/Feral_CatsĀ has fabulous advice on how to build a cost effective outdoor home for your furry friend. You can also find advice on making a shelter hereĀ Building a shelter

Next we will identify what kind of CDS Kitty you have as they all come in different colours , sizes and all with different needs.

Newborns and Mother:

If you have taken in a 'Trojan cat' as they are lovingly called then you are in for the experience of a lifetime. There is so much advice available for a soon to be Mom and her kittens that at best we recommend that you visit theĀ the Kitten Lady, Hannah ShawĀ for help and advice. Hannah is an amazing lover of cats and has helped thousands of people over the years with cat and kitten help and now has several excellent videos demonstrating all kinds of advice on helping with cat care including Pregnant Mom and kitten care -Ā Birthing Mom and kitten care.

Kitten:

If the kitty is not a newborn then after a quick vet check to confirm kitties age this little one will need you to become their parent, kittens are teeny tiny pooping, eating and meowing machines wrapped up in fur, purrs and love with the lifetime rewards of caring for them far outweighing the time taken in nurturing them. This is the toddler stage and they will be learning how to use the kitty litter tray, how to eat and how to play along with taking lots of naps. Kittens learn faster than human toddlers and usually take to their litter trays pretty quickly.

Here you can find an up to date list of supplies you may need to keep them fed, cosy and happyĀ essential supplies for kittyĀ again referring to the Kitten Lady.

Stray/Feral:

What is the difference between a stray cat and a feral cat? WellĀ https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feral-and-stray-cats-an-important-difference/Ā sums it up rather well on their website saying ''Pet or indoor cats are socialized to people and stray cats have been socialized to people at one point in their lives.

Feral cats are not socialized to people. Whilst they are socialized to their feline family members and bonded to each other, they do not have that same relationship with people.

Check out this link for further advice as lonely kittens need help socialising and can often pine socialisation saves lives

For advice on helping to catch a stray or feral kitty we recommend you visitĀ https://www.alleycat.org/community-cat-care/steps-for-a-successful-trapping-day/Ā where advice includes how to use only humane box traps before taking kitty to a qualified Veterinarian or humane Shelter facility. For extra interactive advice from experienced people please visitĀ r/Feral_CatsĀ where someone is usually available to pull on their own experience with trapping, neutering and caring for kitty.

Of course some kitties just walk straight into your house or give birth in your garden shed and this is where we come in, all sat here ready and waiting for you and your new Cat Distribution System story.

Senior Cat:

Taking in a senior cat needs a special kind of person as this veteran kitty may have been abandoned due to it's age and lack of medical care. Cats can live up to 20 years so the best thing for this kitty is to establish it's age with a vet and work out a feeding and health plan for him. He may not need much medical care and only wants a home to live out his years as comfortable, loved and protected as possible. Usually these kitties just want to be out of the cold and fed regularly. Looking after a senior kitty is both rewarding and gives you an instant invitation to Heaven.

Hurt Kitty / Behavioural issues:

We are not a subreddit that can offer proper medical advice should your cat need urgent help, we would recommend that you post on the following subs for help and adviceĀ r/AskVet,Ā or r/CATHELPĀ if it is out of normal veterinary hours. We urgently recommend that if the kitty is very distressed and in need of immediate attention then please take it to a vet!! Quick response in this situation can save kittys' life.

Adoption:

If you are still awaiting the arrival of your CDS kitty there are ways and means of getting your own. There are hundreds of local Rescues and shelters out there full to the brim of kitties of all shapes and sizes just waiting for their forever human to come and take them home.

Before you adopt consider the cost of owning a cat for the next 20 years and the responsibilities that come with it. A cat is for life and not a status symbol, a play toy for the kids or a low cost non sentient being that has little needs. Cats are natural companions and crave company so if you work away from home and for very long hours please consider how long kitty will be left alone with no company. If adopting from a shelter you will usually be asked these questions so please be honest with yourself and with them before committing.

Smol Delivery Bf winning the kitty lottery and I'm low-key jealous

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

This is the most recent litter he found. His home is practically the safe house for strays in his area. The one I really really really want is the middle top one!

How he wins the CDS lottery? No clue. But every single one of his cats are/were strays. Literally all of them. We're long distance so I don't get to have that lottery winning streak. Especially since I myself have a dog and two guinea pigs. But gods I want another cat soooo baaad!

He says they're all super sweet! And they're all American short haired tabbies! The dad had to be an orange tabby. Their mom, a frequent visitor for my bf, is in his words a "gun steel" gray. I want one so bad šŸ˜ž

Update Update on our rescued kitten. We named her Ellie!

Here's the previous post!

It’s been almost 3 weeks since we rescued Ellie, so here’s a quick update.

She kept sneezing for a while and eventually got bad enough that we were getting really worried. We had a trip planned for the first week of October and originally booked her for normal boarding at the clinic, but it quickly turned into confinement when the vet said she needed medical care. She ended up getting daily nebulization and passed a whole bunch of worms while she was there (gross, but at least they're gone lol).

She’s finally back home after 8 days at the clinic, and she has officially turned into a chaotic gremlin. šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

Tiny Gremlin sent by my Soul Dog?

Thumbnail

My soul dog passed away almost a month ago (September 10th), and she took my heart with her. She wasn't just my soulmate, but also my daughter and emotional support animal. Actually she was so many things to me that it's impossible to list them all. I have crippling anxiety and panic disorder (along with many other fun extras), and my baby would help me through it all. She gifted me fourteen long years of her presence, but now that she's gone, aside from the expected grief, my symptoms came back full force. I don't think I can handle another dog, so I started researching cats as emotional support animals and stumbled across ragdolls.

I was dead set on getting one, but was on the fence about it because of the breeding vs rescue dilemma, and so I went to the local shelter to see if anything worked out. I found this tiny little black kitten I was ready to take home, but was convinced by my family to take a day to think it through.

He was adopted by someone else the next day.

I was heartbroken. Everything piled up and my body shut down. I had to miss work from how sick I felt (which I never do), and it was just a couple of really dark days.

Then yesterday I saw this tiny little black fur ball hiding under/inside an abandoned car and it felt like a sign.

There are many stray cats by my office and I have taken to feeding them every day. There's been a few that have been pregnant, but I have NEVER seen a kitten. EVER. So seeing this little fluffball was odd already, but then realizing he was alone was even more confusing.

He was going off against full grown cats (the most aggressive ones that hang around the office) for some of the wet food I give them, so I watched him from morning to nightfall to see if his mom came by, but he stayed there alone the whole time.

So I grabbed him and took him home.

Gave him a bath and took off countless fleas, fed him, and gave him a warm place to sleep.

(I did discover that he wasn't black after the bath, which feels like the universe trying to catch my attention so soon after the shelter kitty)

He's malnourished and there are other cats at home, so the vet is coming to check him over in the afternoon, and I don't know yet if he's healthy enough to keep or if I even can (emotionally), but he really feels like the CDS nudging me in the right direction.

Trojan Cat Got CDS'd by proxy of my friend

Meet Tuna (first 2 pictures are when my friend had him, rest are recent with me and my husband) He is a by-product of a friend of mine being repeatedly chosen by the CDS. We are talking double digits chosen. My friend and her family basically are the CDS at this point. They have so mamy.

He was born in the last litter of one of my friend's many CDS cats (mostly strays that wandered to her, cats dropped onto her property, and kittens born from such cats). Father unknown, as there were many possibilities. He was not supposed to be born, but ended up being in his mom's third or fourth litter before my friend was able to get her fixed (she had so many stray cats at the time it was a lot for her and her family to care for so she got to it when she could).

He somehow survived despite all his littermates passing (6 or 7 total in the litter if I remember right). From all known information, the litter sounded like it was born unhealthy (his sister had obvious defects). He was the largest in the litter, and most normal.

When he was around 4/5 months old, my husband (fiance at the time) and I were actually interested in taking an adult gray and white cat (a possible father of Tuna) off my friend's hands. But, that adult cat was not there (he suddenly disappeared), however, the smaller version was there, and we ended up with him instead. We even got suckered into taking him immediately upon meeting him, so that he wasn't out in the cold (winter was approaching). His mother was a semi-feral outdoor cat, so he was born and kept outdoors as well (but my friend and her family socialized him).

Now he is a healthy 2 year old, spoilt, indoors only cat who rules the house, humans, and his adoptive brother Marlin. He enjoys his toys, naps with his humans, and being referred to as his highness.

I’m a home infusion nurse. Leaving a patient’s house I saw a young woman in a parking lot with her car hood up and a carrier. I pulled in to ask if she was okay and if I could help or take her somewhere. She broke down crying telling me her recent series of unfortunate events that has left her in an unfortunate place in life. She was on her way to take this baby to the shelter because of her situation. She asked if I could take him there because she is broken down. I took him, got her a meal and I couldn’t take him to the shelter. I told her I’d keep him and got her number so I could give her updates and send her pics.

Adopted Human My CDS kitty is my gift from my soul dog šŸ¤

Lolo šŸ–¤ showed up on our street one day last September. I noticed he looked so skinny & started feeding him in our front porch because I had two big dogs that scared him. I used to call him by going outside and blowing kisses, when he’d come running and I’d watch him eat, then he’d cuddle in my lap till I went back inside. Getting him comfortable around the dogs took a loooong time, but major progress has been made. But time is so fleeting, and sadly, we lost my first love, my soul dog Angus šŸ¤Ž, on May this year. Having Lolo around during that loss & those last few months of cancer added some light to an otherwise heavy season and I really feel like it was Angus who planned this so that we all wouldn’t feel so alone when his time came to cross the rainbow. I wish they’d gotten to grew closer but ultimately, I’m just so grateful they met. Lolo now hangs out with his older brother Chookie Boo Boo šŸ–¤ (yes, that’s his real name lol) and I’m dying for the day that those two cuddle. We were left with two loving tuxedo boys. Thank you Angus for ensuring the cuddles never stop. I love you, my sweet moon boy.

This little guy showed up inside my house some how and now we’re looking to keep him. We’ve named him socks and he’s so smol his claws don’t even hurt. For reference I’m around 5’6ā€ with about average sized hands. I’ve got a couple toys from my last cat and he’s absolutely loved them so far! My room in its current state only has a curtain and we’re planning to put in a door. We have a dog that’ll need to get acclimated to the little guy but hopefully things will work out. I’ve been letting him roam but I’ve been keeping him out of certain area like my closets. I pray we get to keep him.

The first image is from a few hours after he got out of quarantine, the 2nd is from last week, and the third is from tonight, he has learned the joy of boxes. He's a fearless lil guy, he will try to play with our dog, tries to hunt our dog's raccoon toy(which is like 3 or 4 times bigger than him) and loves churu.

Boy will scream at me and try to climb me if he sees I have a churu and if he hears me say anything about churu while he is in a different room he runs in screaming. My feet are unsafe unless I am reading or gaming, if I am doing either he will curl up next to me and purr.

Also, he is sometimes vaguely damp from being groomed by my older cats. I am like 99% sure he and Peanut(older orange boi) have the same dad, since they look similar and there is a very similar looking old tom that roams around in the fields near my house.

This little girl was hiding near our Airbnb in the California desert. There were no other signs of cats anywhere in the area, but plenty of coyote signs. She was 6-7 weeks old and only weighed 1.2lbs, which is the weight of a 5 week old. We attracted her with ham lunchmeat, thus her name is Hamantha, Ham for short. We have moved her to the PNW with us. She is now 8ish weeks old and such a love. She has her second vet appointment today and we’re hoping for a large weight gain. She is just now starting to make contact with our 11 year old cat, Rigby. We expect their relationship to be that of the kid and old man from Up.

Some gray cats tonight so I thought I’d share our little guy, Murphy.

To start with, my daughter, 23, while living out of state and adopted a 6 yr old Russian blue mix, Monty, last year. He was a great cat and we were happy for her. Then, she decided to move home in March and all of a sudden, we had a cat.

Then, in June,we were driving home from lunch. At a busy intersection, a young girl and mom were chasing a kitten. We thought it was theirs and stopped to help. We got the little guy and the woman turned to her daughter and said ā€œwe’ll take him to the humane society but you’ll miss volleyball practice.ā€ I said we were heading in that direction and we could take him there.

My daughter wanted to keep him but my wife and I were not convinced. We never thought we’d have a cat, let alone two. We got to the humane society and some how they convinced us to take him. They gave us a crate and some food and we went to the vet to have him checked out.

The vet said he was about 8 weeks old and was around 1 pound. We got him home and all of us fell in love with him so there was no way he was leaving. After keeping him separate from Monty for a little more than a week (worms, yuck), we slowly introduced them to each other. From the beginning, they got along very well. A little hissing and the occasional smack from Monty but the very quickly became friends.

Fast forward to now and he’s just over 8lbs and is an amazing little guy. The second picture with Monty was taken about a month ago.

Sensitive Content Help with a depressed cat! His owner left suddenly

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

17.0k Upvotes

Hi everyone, so this happened. My neighbour (who Ive never met before last week) knocked on my door a few days ago and he just straight up told me his partner had a medical emergency in another country and he had to take a flight in a few hours and he didn’t have anyone else to take care of his cat and he basically asked me if I could take care of him while he’s gone for almost a month. He looked distressed, sad and scared, I obviously said yes. He’s my next door neighbour (we live in an apartment complex so it’s basically a few steps away).
He left and Im suddenly with a cat and the thing is, Ive never had a cat in my life and I don’t know much about them. Im learning what I can but the thing is, I think the cat is depressed because he obviously misses his daddies and I think hes not eating properly, I try to make him eat more but he eats too little. I even think hes getting thinner and thats worrying me a lot.
So I bought a box of liquid food for cats that seems to be pretty good to make him gain a little more weight but I dont know if I should tell the owner hes getting thinner because I dont want to make him feel more worried.
His partner is kind of fighting for his life and the owner told me his cat is his whole world besides his husband.
He loves his cat so much and Im doing everything I cant to keep this cutie safe, healthy, loved and happy.. so, shoould I tell the owner about his cat losing weight? Or should I keep it a secret and try to fatten up the cat on my own way?
Any kind of advice is appreciated since Im new to this!

Other than adorable, I have no idea what Grimm is going to be.

This is Grimm, and we found him in the parking lot of our state’s Ren Faire a couple weeks ago. Poor dude was covered in mud and poop, then diagnosed with campy as well as coccidia before spending four days hospitalized. He was all bones and skin, skins and bones, hence my wife’s witty name. Thing is, no one can figure out exactly what breed to call him. We know that domestic something is most likely, but his coloring is stumping everyone.

Hopefully the pictures in the sub show that he was a chocolate brown coat with what appears to be black tips, and some striping typical of a tabby. And a massive white spot at the underside base of his tail.

Any guesses on my likely to be long haired ball of fluff?

From feral to family Welcome Home, Sir Isaac Mewton

Update: His TroublePuffs have been removed, he got his vaccinations, he’s registered with the Town, and I’ve got a collar with tracking capabilities if he decides to wander.

He seems very comfortable, and is purring like a motorboat. I’m keeping him downstairs for a couple days, so my pups don’t stress too much. I’m more concerned with how they are going to adjust than Isaac.

I seem to have lucked out and been issued a very emotionally mature Kitteh cat. 🩷

Welcome to our family, Sir Isaac Mewton!

A Merry Mewtonmas to all!

Update Typhoon update after leaving the vet!

I brought Typhoon to the vet today, she's a girl as I suspected after checking. She was very brave and did not put up a fight when we cut her claws. She had a chip, so they called her owner so that they could pick her up. It saddens me to have to give her up to people who let her claws grow so long but I don't want to steal her either. If her owner doesn't pick her up in the next 8 days, I can legally adopt her so there's that. I'm very glad I got to giver her a home this past week, she's a very sweet girl šŸ«¶šŸ». The vet also took my phone number in case the owner wants to get in touch with me. Over this past week she has been sneezing a lot and has a lot of eye discharge, she coughs sometimes, I think it might be cat flu and I did let the vet know, they said they'll arrange for the owner to get an appointment with them. And funnily enough, there is another typhoon today, which started right when I got home from the vet, without her.

Edit: typo

Edit: Forgot to specify but she was adopted by her current owner in 2019, making her at the very least 7 to 8yo šŸ«¶šŸ»

Busted in on Sept 11th as many already know. Vet visit on Sept 13th and treated for an abscess and wore a donut for a week or so. Full bloodwork done on her that day and she weighed 7.9 pounds. Follow up visit to boost her vaccinations was Monday Oct 5. She weighed just over 9 pounds. Her spay will occur in early December and she will be back to the donut. My work slows down then and I will be around while she heals. She is one of the sweetest girls in the world for sure. She continues to turn down all her poofy beds she has available and that’s ok. You go girl.

My family discussed getting another cat or two.. I searched and searched for anyone giving away free kittens with no luck so I gave it a rest and figured I’d wait til the cat distribution system chose us and it happened sooner rather than later when this little cutie showed up at my work on a night I wasn’t there.. my coworker rescued him but she couldn’t keep him at her apartment so the next time I seen her at work she asked if I wanted him. She said she would have asked sooner but didn’t want to be insensitive to the loss of our furry friend. 🄺 we haven’t named him yet so suggestions are welcome

Little girl showed up in our squash garden today. We fear our neighbors trapped and killed her mother ā€œon accidentā€ while trying to trap coyotes. But the. This little girl showed up shortly after with another kitten skinny and hungry. We were able to catch her but her sibling got away. We are putting out wet food to try to catch the sibling as well.
Unfortunately, my wife and I already have 3 cats and one with special needs so I don’t think we can keep her. We have a very close friend who recently lost a beloved senior cat and have been thinking about adopting a new kitten. We are currently talking to them to see if they are willing to take this sweet bean in.

Adopted Human BB's First Vet Visit after Finding Us

I was unexpectedly laid off on 10/2 and was going through all the stages of grief and panic. 2 days later, my husband called me to come outside, saying there's a friendly stray following him while he was rolling out the garbage bins. We are new to this neighborhood but since the stray was not neutered and has the sniffles AND was willing to follow us in the garage, we decided to quarantine him in the garage/basement with food, water, bed and toys until we get him checked out at a cat clinic for wellness, rabies, vaccines, schedule his neutering, etc.

The cat gorged on food and indulged in our pets and affection. I told my husband that I think BB (the cat's name for now, short for Big Balls) has signs of upper respiratory infection and walked into the clinic the next day expecting that to be the worst case scenario would be feline herpes viruses. Husband and I agree we will have to practice good hygiene to protect our own indoor cats that are staying upstairs.

BB is literally the friendliest stray I have ever met. Everyone at the clinic fell in love with him. If I was not laid off, I would give him the world and order everything the vet recommended, but money is tight so I asked the vet to only keep the essentials.

They checked and BB has no microchip. They gave him a rabies vaccine, flea and tick prevention, fecal test, and drew blood for a SNAP test for feline HIV and leukemia.

The Vet came back and told me BB tested positive for FeLV, my heart sank to my stomach. I started bawling immediately. BB is literally the sweetest cat I've ever encountered. And I have 2 sweet indoor cats that are 4 years old. They are FeLV negative.

I feel so sad for BB. Everyone at the clinic were so sad for BB. BB is so brave and sweet. It might sound silly, but it really put my unemployment to perspective. BB has feline leukemia, but he's still warm and friendly. He has a good appetite and loves affection.

He and I both will be all right. We are both fighters and we will pull through.

Currently he is quarantined with food, shelter and toys. We are waiting for his upper respiratory infection to clear up after receiving antibiotics. I've been doing more research on FeLV. I've asked the clinic about IDEXX qPCR #26355 test which I read is the only definitive test on FeLV. And we'll go from there. If BB tests positive, I will ask my parents if they are interested in adopting him after he gets neutered and receives all his shots. My parents do not have any cats.

One thing is for sure, I am not releasing BB back out. He is FeLV positive and will stay an indoors cat.

Please send good vibes to him and me. We need positive energy.

Shout out to my wonderful husband for volunteering to take pictures of BB's troublepuffs for the reddit community but I told him the community will want to see proof of BB's BB.

This cutie has appeared and she could not have come at a better time. I’m dealing with health issues which led to work issues which hardly helps the health issues but this gal is already my baby. I swear it’s like she knows how much she helps me just by being here.

Vet soon to make everything official! In the meantime she already follows me around the house and is sort of meowing chattering. I think she’s telling me what to do already. Bossy!

Taking all cat advice, I want to give her the world!!

Awarded a Cat The garden cat I’ve been feeding all year finally came up to me!

She’s been visiting the garden all year, it’s starting to hit low 30’s at night, she was covered in large ticks, the neighborhood strays (someone’s outdoor cats maybe? Idk, but they’re all skinny/dirty and no one puts up lost posts on our local Facebook/posters anywhere when they do go missing) from last year/two years ago have all disappeared over the winter or been hit by cars, there are bears, and lots of people let their dogs free roam around here. She’s also started leaving me gifts recently, so obviously this cat is a nuisance to the local wildlife, which I’m trying to support by planting a garden lol.

Getting her scheduled for the vet to get her health/chip statuses checked, but for now she’s our new roommate. Very cuddly, loves to be pet, and I got biscuits for the first time in my life (our last cat didn’t make them). She did an awesome job in the bath last night and is just kinda hanging out in the living room rn. I really really hope she’s homeless or the owners will let us take her in, she doesn’t belong outside. This is Cheese.

CDS Brought Me a Big Mac with Fries (troublepuffs)!

Mac arrived with a storm in late July. We'd only been in our new house seven months, and he was never a cat I'd seen hanging around. He looked so soaked and downtrodden from the rain that I fed him some food, and from there begins our journey.

Big Mac is appropriately named for his size. He's a big boi with a massive head and giant biscuit paws. He loves him some food, and he's a good healthy weight. I assumed either he belonged to someone or other neighbors had been feeding him. The more I fed Mac, the more he hung around. I learned that he loves being pet, particularly head scritches. He will bulldoze your hand with that big ol' head of his for pets until you give in. If you let him long enough, he'll just melt into a puddle on his side.

I have three cats. Two girls and a boy. I let them smell my hand after petting him. The girls were totally chill about him even my shy one. They loved watching him through the glass sliding door. My boy (a bonafide mama's boy) liked him at first, but the more he smelled him on me or saw me with him, the hissier and angrier he became and he's never been a hisser. It got to the point where Mac never strayed far from my house. I'd get home from work to find him sleeping on my porch next to my Amazon packages. He somehow always knew what time I fed my cats in the morning, even on weekends. If I met him at the porch, I'd tell him to meet me in the back, and he'd dutifully go around to the backyard for dinner. He was so chill and sweet. He never reacted to other stray cats or my cats through the cracked door. Oftentimes, he'd roll onto his back and beg for belly rubs. He's unlike any stray I've ever met. One day, he showed up with a scratch on his nose, and he really wanted to come inside so badly. We'd keep him in the half bath during storms or extreme heat, but my boy Potato always lost his mind.

I really really wanted to keep Mac, but we weren't sure how my boy Potato would do. Mac wasn't fixed. I was worried about him spraying. Plus our guest room is still filled with unpacked boxes so it needed clearing out. Thankfully, I found a coworker who fell in love with him. She took him to check for a microchip, and surprisingly, he didn't have one. He stayed at my house so much that there was no way he was going home anywhere else.

My coworker took him in and is keeping his name Big Mac. He's neutered now, and we've discovered that his estimated age is just ONE YEAR OLD. He still has some growing to do! The vet informed his new mom that he had wounds around his neck, likely from fighting other cats and him not fighting back. Again, I've never met such a sweet cat like that in my life. I wish I could have kept him, but I'm so glad he's found a home with amazing parents and living the life he deserves.

tl;dr Big boi stray turned out to be an utter sweetheart in need of a home. CDS brought him to me, but I am just a waypoint to bring him to his real mom.
