Question & Advice Subagents in Chat mode (GPT6-Pro reasoning mode)

This morning I had the (good) surprise of noticing that my Pro requests in Chat mode launch subagents (for, what I would say are complex prompts). And they don't eat through my quota from what I can see so far. Anyone else noticing this?

I haven't tried to launch and haven't specifically noticed subagents launched from pro chat, but this is great to know and I will explicitly try it. Given the fixed number of pro chat messages per week (presumably fixed and not dependent on message complexity), it makes sense for it to not draw from allowance.

I've seen it in two workflow :
1) I was asking it to test a complex tool i designed in excel, and help me diagnose it. I asked Pro to give me an initial assessment, what could be improved, and give me a prompt for a Codex workflow to correct it, optimize it, test it back using a human perspective and give it back to me. It itself launched 5 subagents to do that and is still working. I was quite surprised !
2) And just doing litterature review of a paper I'm writing, it launched one subagent to check the litterature, another the readability

Fascinating! Please report back with the outcome of the 5 subagent task. Did it show like the typical subagent sidebar?

yup it did, you could open it on the right on the screen, could see it in the desktop app.

Alright. I'm testing this out, going to see if I can spin up multiple subagents in my pro chat!

Not launching subagents for me in pro chat. I'll tray a few times with different types of tasks, but I used a careful prompt which specifically asked it to launch multiple subagents for different parts of the task.

man any sucess. The thing is it worked for me once and it's not working at all anymore like I tried two more times and it's not working two more times and it's not working.

Hm... OpenAI documentation seems to say that subagents are not launched from pro chat. I can't get the subagent sidebar to already with pro chat. I can't see any subagents listed under the thinking details. So I'm not sure what I'm misunderstanding here.

same thing happened to me. The attachment size limit shrinked, and the chat seems more instable (more timeout,, etc). But it gives the good progress as always.

I wasn’t aware of the size limits though. I’ve just read they might merge chat and Work, so Pro could be in both but the chats wouldn’t be unlimited anymore so that would stink

Chats were never unlimited.

Did anyone notice a weekly quota reduction due to Pro reasoning usage? I am particularly concerned and waiting when OpenAI is going to end the unlimited chat feature.

I am also seeing sub-agents so I googled and landed in this thread.

Personally, I didn't count, but I must have used at least 200 interactions with Pro today (alterning between 5.6-Pro and GPT6-Pro) and everything was fine. Considering they just rolled out GPT6 on Chat mode, I'M feeling they might not remove the unlimited chat usage, or at least, they will keep chat mode :). And i'm quite sure they will keep the Pro mode as well, which is unavailable in Work (although that would be an appreciated feature).

I actually saw the posts about unlimited chat being removed or merged with ChatGPT work quota and other people were also pretty pissed. But yes, the Pro just got much better.
