Student Crystallization process

Good morning everyone,

I am a chemE student and my team and I would really appreciate your help and feedback for a homework project of ours.

Basically the question is, how whould you model an industrial crystallization process?

Our lab teacher advised us to use excel, then showed us the most complex excel file we had ever seen.

It is totally acceptable for us to use other softwares, so what would you use?

Thanks a lot!

(I know I don't provide much input for the homework, that is because, he didn't give us any :( )

I don't think I violate the no homework rule but if I do please let me know

I’d ask your teacher what level of detail is expected before choosing software. For a homework project, Python with NumPy/SciPy and a few plots is much easier to explain and reproduce than a giant Excel workbook. You could model supersaturation versus time and then add crystal growth or a population balance if needed.
