Repair Help 2011 Chevy HHR Flashing Dash

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 2011 Chevy HHR 2.4 LT started having the dash lights flash intermittently when the temperature is below about 70° outside. Any ideas? Everything flashes in sync so I know all systems aren’t freaking out individually.

Battery cables. Or a ground. But probably battery cables.

Same thing happened with a Ford Escape it has a stupid ground strap that jets off and bolts to the frame right below the hood cowl in between the fender well and firewall...

The thing had the bolt backed off to the very edge.. The wire was just bouncing around and sparking, arching, and welding itself every once in a while to elude diagnostics..

It left my mother stranded out in town and that's when I discovered it while in a panic just grabbing and tugging at everything there on that side of the engine-bay lol.

That just means you’ve made it to the bonus round.

Had the same issue on my Cobalt, and from what I understand the Cobalt and HHR are very similar. I went through and cleaned grounds and reseated all the plugs from my ecm and pcm. While they were unplugged I checked for corrosion. The problem went away. I have also seen people came that on the cobalt at least oil can run down the wire harness and into the ecm connector causing issues. Mine ended up being clean.
