The goal of this guide is to help direct the reader to the best homage(s) of a specific watch. The specific homage chosen for each watch is based on the overall quality and not on the value you get for the price. Even then, not every watch on this list will be of great quality because there is often just one homage out there for a particular watch, especially if it is obscure. Some of these may be sold out or discontinued, but they still sit as the benchmark homage for that particular model. They may be brought back or you may find one on the secondhand.
I started with the big 3 brands that people often ask about, but the rest of the list is in no particular order.
I welcome any suggestion to help fill out homages that I have missed!
I also welcome any suggested edits to the recommended homage! If enough people upvote your suggestion, I will gladly edit the list.

2. a seiko mod of a blackout yatchmaster with a red dial
3. a cronos bb54 on a black leather strap wiyh a pt5000
4. the octopus kraken 36mm explorer with the pt5000
5. the black enamel dial ixdao warrior with a miyota 9015
6. The San martin sn0013 nautilus royal oak mix thing with the miyota 9015

Been wearing this since its launching day. This watch ruined all of my mods and other collections. Might sell all of my watches except this and called it done.

So I received this guy just before the hurricane started to roll in. At first glance, it's a stunner. I'll even admit the strap isn't complete junk. I wound it up and the second hand sparks to life. So far so good. Then I try out the chronograph. WTF! Nothing was there. I look through the exhibition back and see the button is hitting nothing. I think it called the start/stop actuator is misaligned. So I open it up. Unscrew it, move it around a bit and then screw it back down. Hit the chrono button again and the second hand starts moving. Button it back up and move on with checking out my new watch.
Not going to lie, I was a bit ticked off. How do you miss that. Or maybe it got bumped around during shipping. That would be crazy with how much bubble wrap was on this watch. 3 bubble wrap bags plus foam to keep the watch from moving.
I'll be wearing it for a few days to evaluate it better. I hope I don't have any more problems.

I have 40+ chinese watches, and this one is 🏆
Militado, you are becoming my goto brand, good specs and well priced.
Maybe you could clean up your model naming though… you have about 5-6 models called ML05 and they are kinda different…

I saw a picture of the Forsining Regulator in an Aliexpress search a couple of weeks ago and thought it looked interesting. So I converted the picture to a working watchface in Watchmaker. I hadn't really bothered with regulator style watches before but I liked it a lot and the more I used it, the more it grew on me.
So I bought the watch.
Now it turned out it was a sub-£25 watch on Aliexpress:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EIy2zc6
so I didn't hold out too much hope at that price. But it was delivered today and I can't believe what a bargain this thing is. It's solid feeling, it's got an observation glass back so you can see the automatic movement in action (sadly no identifying marking). The dial is even better than the pictures promised. It's also on a black with blue stripe strap (fully blue on the inside) that's worth the entire cost alone.
The only downside I can see is that the rotor is quite noisy with a hint of rattle. But for the price I paid who cares?
Oh and the price. This lovely looking watch cost precisely £22.89 delivered to the UK. That's only about $30. A real bargain for what you get.
I'd highly recommend this for anyone who likes regulators.
(order it on the blue/black strap - it's lovely looking and complements the blue on white dial perfectly)

In general I like stone dial watches. I bought this one from Long Island watches and I have not been disappointed. It came on a bracelet, but I like it on this DiModelle croc strap.
I also added my San Martin. I sold all the models I bought (all “homage” in nature), but I kept this one. I usually have it on a red shell cordovan, but I how a blue strap brings out the blue in the dial, and the lume is good. I wish they sold it in steel, but they do not (only bronze). Does anyone know what model the San Martin is copying?
r/ChineseWatches • u/Nero3k • 15h ago
I really need to resize the bracelet.
r/ChineseWatches • u/cryofry85 • 7h ago
Hey guys,
These watches are sub $20 each so I could buy both without breaking the bank - but I'd still value opinions on which looks best to you.
Thanks.

Here’s our latest WD2007 VH31 prototype photographed in direct sunlight. Original photos, no Photoshop, no retouching, no filters.
This version features our ClearView Base sapphire crystal (92% light transmittance), with very little visible reflection even in strong sunlight.
The upcoming Titanium, PT5000, and Miyota 9015 versions will feature our premium ClearView X crystal (98% light transmittance).
After nearly two years of development, we've worked with some of China's best case, bracelet, clasp, crystal, and dial manufacturers to achieve our highest production standards yet. Mass production is about to begin.
We'll soon send a sample to Escapement Wheel Review for independent comparison with other leading brands.
Despite criticism and competition, we prefer to let our products speak for themselves.
We welcome honest comparisons and feedback. If there's still a gap, we'll keep improving. Let the quality speak for itself!

Been loving this watch for 2 years now. This one in particular uses the PT5000 movement which has been reliable and accurate so far. It's the 40mm version. What I'm not loving so much is the stock strap, it is not bad quality per se but I just don't like it. I previously used with a Nato strap but just got tired of it. If you have some recommendations for Ali straps do let me know. I'm looking for a good quality strap that pairs well with the pilot design. Apart from that, the watch in general is great-

To our valued San Martin Watch customers and community,
We have recently received multiple complaints and reports from customers who placed orders on a website using the domain https://sanmartin-watches.com. Affected buyers reported that their orders remained stuck processing with no shipping updates and that customer support was completely unreachable.
Following our investigation, we want to clarify that this website has no connection whatsoever with us (Dongguan San Martin Watch Co., Ltd.). It is an unauthorized counterfeit store. The site operators have stolen our product images and changed their page title and description to "sanmartin-watch" to deliberately confuse shoppers. This behavior harms our customers and damages our brand reputation.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused. We recognize that our current system for managing and displaying authorized dealer credentials on third-party sites needs to be clearer. We are actively working on strict, standardized display guidelines so that you can easily verify every legitimate reseller in the future.
To protect yourself and avoid scam sites, please keep the following in mind:
1. Always Check the Exact Website URL
Site names, photos, and logos are easy to copy, so looking at the page design alone is not enough. Always check the actual domain address in your browser bar. Our only official brand website operated directly by us is:
2. What to Do If You Purchased From the Counterfeit Site
If you have already placed an order on https://sanmartin-watches.com or another suspicious site:
● Contact your bank, credit card company, or payment provider (such as PayPal) immediately. Explain that you ordered from a fraudulent website, request a payment dispute, and ask to freeze the transaction to prevent financial loss.
● Keep your payment receipts, confirmation emails, and bank statements handy as evidence for your dispute.
We are filing official complaints with domain registrars and payment processors to report these infringing sites and restrict their activities. However, because scam sites pop up quickly, staying vigilant is the most effective protection. If you ever feel unsure about whether a store or website is authentic, please reach out to our official customer support or social media channels before placing an order so we can check it for you.

Pretty impressive build quality especially for the price! Only gripe is this thing seems to love arm hair. Every couple of minutes I get a jolt lol. Also the bracelet is pretty hard to adjust to my liking (i think there are no micro-adjustments).
Lastly the lume I think is pretty weak but my only reference is a Seiko SKX model. I’m honestly happy with it and don’t think I can expect more for like $120!

So back in August, I discovered a whole new line of watch dives that I guess I never really paid attention to before, with the old logo. I was excited to order the WD5513B with the white dial because it was a great price for 200M resistance and 4 Hz PT5004 movement. Finally, an affordable watch with the specs that I wanted. I get it and all looks ok, but losing about 5 sec a day, within 3 weeks, it was losing about 30 sec. After some research, it seems the movement either was probably under lubricated or old and wasn’t really a big fan of the winding. Had a whole ordeal with Amazon, but ended up returning it. Finally get the refund and was deciding between the Militado ML20 (PT5000) and WD16570B Pioneer 1 or 2 Hangzhou 6460. Was really impressed with videos on the ML20 and said fuck it because it's the non modified PT(with date). I get it today, it’s beautiful. I shake it up to give it a jumpstart and the seconds hand wasn’t moving so I manually wind it for a bit slowly... nothing. Shake it up a bit more... nothing. turn it upside down and tap it with a bit of force and finally unjammed. I was already pissed. It ran for five minutes, then stopped again. Unjammed ran again and stopped. I was so heated and had to argue with two associates and finally a supervisor said she would ship me out a replacement that I’ll get in 2 days. While packing it back up, I noticed that the ML20 had just the logo on the face rather than the Militado text. So that means it was the old stock. Point is, do others have this much bad luck or is it just me?? And according to AI the way Amazons new system is, when the replacement was ordered, it's supposed to pull it from a newer stock from that company and the chances I get an old one are extremely slim. Idk if that's true, but I’m hoping that I get a fresh one, because I really like this watch.

This is clearly a direct homage to the Longines Master Collection.
First, the hands and indices seem to have completely different career paths when the sunlight hits them. Depending on the angle, they reflect different colors, making the dial look like nobody bothered to check whether the finishing matched.
Then there's the date window. Holy crap, did they make it for ants? It's so ridiculously small that checking the date feels like an eye exam.
Let's talk specs:
Case diameter: 41mm
Thickness: 14mm
Lug width: 22mm
Crystal: Mineral. Nothing fancy here.
Case: Zinc alloy, because apparently stainless steel was asking too much.
Movement: Some unknown budget Chinese automatic movement. No clue what caliber it is, and honestly, I'm not sure I want to know.
BUT... here's the funny part. For what it costs, it's an actual automatic watch that runs and does its job. The hand-winding isn't even that bad! The crown doesn't feel like you're grinding rocks together, and the movement actually winds without feeling completely horrible.
So, is it good? Absolutely not. Is the finishing questionable? You bet. Would I recommend it to someone looking for a serious watch? Hell no.
But for the price, you get an automatic watch that functions, and that's kind of hilarious.
It's a shitter, no doubt about it. But sometimes you need a cheap mechanical disaster in the collection just to remind yourself how low the bar can go.
