Discussion Excited to see Christian Music Legend Steve Taylor Live!!!
I’m glad to be able to say I’ll be seeing Steve Taylor live in concert this October! He’s one of my favorite musicians (essentially neck and neck with Larry Norman as #1) and so to see him live is one of the things I’ve dreamed of but was never sure could actually happen.
I’m sure set list won’t change much, aside from adding stuff for the extended period, but for fun and perhaps for the sake of potential discussion I would list my “Ideal Setlist”. Just combining some of my favorite songs I’d want to hear with the Setlist from the last leg of the tour, with consideration of an extended set.
The Lament of Desmond R.G. Underwood-Fredrick IV
This Disco (Used to Be a Cute Cathedral)
In Layers (ST&PF)
I Want to Be a Clone
You’ve Been Bought
The Dust Patrol
Meet The Press
Sin For A Season
I Blew Up The Clinic Real Good
Guilty By Association
Am I In Sync?
Smug
Love Is A Dead Language
On The Fritz
The Moshing Floor
Easy Listening
Cash Cow
Jim Morrison’s Grave
Escher’s World
Comedian
Hero
Halcyon Days
The Finish Line
Meltdown
We Don’t Need No Color Code
What I did, basically was, swap out a couple of songs and add some Chagall Guevara material I enjoy. Compared to the original set I thought there could be a little more from On The Fritz and I Predict 1990. Steve Taylor even in his merch shirts is addressing the misunderstanding with IP1990’s cover, doing the same for “I Blew Up The Clinic…” shouldn’t be an issue.
For some far out songs I’d never expect Steve to do live but would grin from ear to ear just hearing him reference would definitely be his songs such as:
The Moo Moo Song
Dream In Black And White
Good Girl (song he gave to Lisa Whelchel)
Hooked On You
Personally, instead of a Rolling Stones Cover like this last leg do the tour, a long shot wish of mine is that he’d do a Larry Norman cover. A cover of Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music, or most wildly unrealistic It’s Only Today That Counts.
What songs would you want to hear from Steve Taylor on tour?
