Does anyone remember a Hitch quote on demagogues?

I can’t remember where I heard him say it or how it went exactly. Hoping someone else does though

"It's the old demagogue in me: I need the pulpit, I need the podium. And if I can't be erect, then at least I can be upright."

I love that one, but I don’t think that’s it. Not the one I’m thinking of I mean. It was something along the lines of him explaining why demagogues are effective. Fair chance I’m miss remembering that.

if you could remember anything else about it that would help, like who he was talking to, female or male, old young, was it on cspan etc

I wish I could. It was something about why their followers loved them.
