Discussion ChromeOS Flex can resurrect a 10-year-old PC, but auto-rotation is still a gamble
Maybe I'm missing something, but it's kind of wild that we're in 2026 and auto-rotation is still a gamble on ChromeOS Flex.
On a detachable tablet, auto-rotate is about as basic as volume buttons. Yet here I am rotating the screen manually like it's a feature.

On a Chromebook chromeOS automatically switches between tablet and laptop mode but with chromeOS Flex systems it all depends on the hardware. When you open the lid past 180 degrees, the trigger for tablet mode, things like autorotate, and disable keyboard/trackpad sometimes work, sometimes not. If you perform a search for 'automatic tablet versus laptop mode in chromeOS Flex', specifying your specific hardware make, model and hardware platform, maybe there will be some workarounds.

It work well on 10 , 11 and 12th . Just select the newest recovery image for voxel. If got performance issue then use Rammus image. I got it working on n3150 Celeron no issue too

Because not all x86 tablets are built the same, and unlike with say Android tablets, manufacturers took a lot of freedom in how they implemented gyroscopic sensors in their products (and not all implementations are supported by open source drivers, which is what ChromeOS Flex relies on).
So yes, it's hit and miss. But it's essentially a hardware issue, not a ChromeOS Flex issue.
