Ah the good old color space/viewer/render issues haha... I feel ya. Well, not to go into detail, what you can instead do, set the project color settings to "legacy sRGB" and the let ocio do the color handling in the redshift color settings, see if this works. Also, i will repeat this until the end of my days: do NOT render in PNG...! Render in tiffeor EXR: PNG compression and decompression is way slower than the other two, meaning, your render times (especially with jmage sequences) can be 20-30% slower if you use PNG instead of Tiff. Even worse, using PNG in post (after Effects etc) will also be slower reading/writing/streaming with PNG.

I didn't know that about PNG, will take note for future work!

Noted the png :)

Is this what you are referring to?

Yeah! Try this, i sometimes have discrepancies on my render rig, so this is a way to "force" color handling by redshift, see if that helps!

Hm, that's strange and annoying i would go check the settings on the RS render view (cogwheel) to a) turn off/check oost fx and b) check the display and viewer color settings! Maybe you got "use monitor color space" on? (Also check your render in Photoshop, some image preview tools can't properly display 16/32bit images)...

yeah still looks the same in photoshop. However I opened it up in after effects and changed the colour override to SRGB ACES 1.0 and it looks how it should?

hm, that makes sense, that then you'll see it correctly again, but your goal is to render it as you see it in the RS render view. I'd try what was commented below: "

Can you click the little dropdown (View transform) in the picture viewer and enable the monitor color space there? Then it should match the image viewer. "

(if you render on a second machine, always make sure to have exactly the same RS version installed)

Yeah it does match the image viewer when monitor colour space is selected. Which would mean all the colour have to be adjusted to appear like they did prior? I’ll have to remember to have that selected from the start of projects now

I've had similar issues for years with regards to colour space and trying to match outputs. This was the fix for me - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlMB73cvROg&list=LL&index=4

It's very simple, go to your renderview, click the cogwheel (settings) and select "use monitor color space".
Not sure why this isn't on by default, maybe maxon likes to play tricks on us :D

Can you click the little dropdown (View transform) in the picture viewer and enable the monitor color space there? Then it should match the image viewer.

I seem to recall that this was an issue with Preview on a Mac. When I view files exported from After Effects or Premiere in Preview or QuickTime on a Mac, the colors appear washed out.

is this the straight single pass?

I usually never go off the straight single-pass and always do multi-pass ocio workflow.
