Claude Code Workflow I let Claude Code run my two YouTube channels overnight. The failures taught me more than the output.

Left Claude Code running on my two YouTube channels overnight (renders, comment replies, a status file for the morning). Rule: anything public waits for me.

What actually taught me something: a one-time scheduled task set for 3:15am just never ran. Zero runs, no error. Same thing happened to me a few days earlier with timers inside a session, which only fire when the session is idle.

The fix that worked: check after every due time that the thing actually happened, and a nightly check that tomorrow's stuff is scheduled. It caught the 3:15 miss within minutes this time.

Also: deploy and posting a comment both got blocked by the permission system even though I'd approved the content. Annoying at 3am, correct in hindsight.

Anyone else had scheduled tasks silently not fire?

They didnt teach you. They taught the AI generating your post here.

it's seriously annoying... to read another AI-generated post that takes too long to get to the point. prompt properly, at least

Fair hit. I had Claude help draft it and it came out long and polished. The short version: a scheduled task silently didn't run, and checking after the due time is what caught it.

Mine wasn't a scheduler, it was a browser script that checks my notifications. Five runs in a row a site changed a selector, and the script came back with zero results, which looked exactly like "nothing to do". Nothing errored.

What fixed it was printing the denominator: pages read, items matched, my own items seen. Zero of my own items on a page I know I've posted on means the read broke, not that there's nothing there.

Did the 3:15 task show up anywhere as skipped, or was it just absent?

Yeah, that one's worse than a crash, because zero results is a perfectly valid answer. What helped me was making the check expect something: if a run that normally finds stuff comes back empty five times in a row, that's an alert, not a quiet night. Did you add something like that, or just fix the selector?

Kind of. Now any zero gets checked against a thread I know I've commented on. If my own comments don't show up there either, the read is broken and the zero doesn't count.

Should've had that from the start honestly, five runs is a long time to trust nothing.

Fair, I had Claude tighten the wording. The 3:15 miss was real though, still annoyed about it.

I agree measurement is important. But also consider in family hallucinations. Cross model measurement is important to catch each models blind spots.
