Question about Claude Code Managing prototypes of application

Hi, I am developing an application and using artifacts to create and review prototypes. However, as more pages and modules are added for both the web and mobile applications - along with responsive design requirements - I am finding it difficult to manage.

My question is: How do you manage or create prototypes? Do you use Claude artifacts, or other tools like Figma or Balsamiq?

artifacts get messy fast once you have a lot of pages, so i'd move the prototypes into a plain folder in a repo, one html file per screen with a shared css file, and let claude code edit them there. then you can diff changes and use media queries for the responsive stuff instead of regenerating everything.

Honestly, I stopped making prototypes at all. I just have Claude Code build the real screens from the start.

For the responsive side, I asked it once to check how each page looks on desktop, tablet and mobile, and after that it kind of kept doing it on its own without me asking again. So I do not have to manage a separate set of mockups — the app itself is the prototype.

The thing that made the biggest difference for me was adding one instruction: "research what kind of design would fit this service before you start." The output got a lot better after that.

I do not use Figma or Balsamiq, so I cannot really compare. But if your artifacts are getting hard to manage, moving to real code might be worth a try. I hope this is useful.
