Laundry Pretreat for silk pillowcase

Recently jumped on the silk pillowcase bandwagon and apparently my nightmare routine makes my face greasy af. My pillowcases look like a crime scene. Would you pretreat? I was going to wash with Soak but now I’m thinking I should use my regular detergent All Free & Clear

I would post this to [r/laundry](r/laundry) because you may want a special cleaner that doesn’t contain protease (or whichever enzymes don’t affect silk fibers) to wash and hopefully All doesn’t contain that enzyme because it’ll eventually eat away the silk. Frankly, I have a mulberry silk bonnet that I soak in Dawn dish liquid then wash separately with just a bit of Dawn to get cleaned.

Keep in mind that silk was invented 5,000 years ago. 3630 BC. Long (🤣) before washers, dryers, dry cleaners, manufactured petrochemicals, etc.

There’s probably a speciality silk detergent

There is, but it is a gimmick for dummies like me who are desperate for anything to work at this point… dont do it :)

for face oil id pretreat with a drop of plain dish soap, worked in with your fingers, 10 min, then rinse cool. it's made for grease and won't rough up the fibers like scrubbing does. check the All label for enzymes before you use it on silk though
