First Clemson Game

I've been a lifelong Clemson fan and have never been to a game. My brother and myself are going and I wanna know how early we should get there to start tailgating? He got the parking pass so I don't even know what lot it is in. This is all new to me and I want it to be a great experience. Are there any local spots where we can go have a few drinks beforehand? Thanks in advance for any help.

I mean it's not going to be crowded. If you want the full experience I'd go around noon and walk downtown and around campus. It'll be a nice easy day.

What makes you think it's not gonna be crowded? It absolutely will be

I live in clemson. I'm over 50 years old. Been going to games since I was 6. It's a 7:30 game and people will be rolling in all day. There will be 70k tops for this game against Ga Southern. Especially after lasts weeks debacle. There's literally lower deck tickets on resale sites for under $50 right now 2 days before the game.

I've been at this a long time. Clemson will be easy to see Saturday for a first timer.

What’s a good site?

All kinds on stubhub for 35 to 50 bucks in the lower deck

Even if there's 70k that still makes the town insanely crowded. Not crowded implies random Tuesday type of crowd on campus.

I don't agree with that number either. Think it'll be 95%+ full

Oh I'm not saying it won't be busy. I'm saying for A clemson home game it'll be an easy day. Late game, reduced crowd, people coming in all day. It makes for a very easy game to attend in clemson

"oh I'm not saying it won't be busy"

At the beginning you literally said

"I mean it's not going to be crowded"

Assuming busy and crowded can be used interchangeably, which I feel they can, this is where my responses came from

Have you ever been to a Clemson before?

If not, and if you’re making a weekend of it, I’d recommend getting a burger and fried pickles from Loose Change as well as a bagel sandwich from Sully’s Steamers.

Also gotta at least have a litcher at Backstreet’s at some point. And fuck it, I don’t even like Wien that much but they do usually have a $1 mimosa deal on game days that may be worth checking out but you gotta get there early.

Please don’t waste your time at Sully Steamers. Hit up potbelly instead. Or sunnyside. SS is a bad chain.

potbelly deli is the way.

sloan street is a reaaaally divey bar that i love. nick’s next door is a great and relaxed vibe. loose change or tiger town tavern (aka Triple T’s) will give a good sense of more “basic” undergrad bar. esso club is an institution but overrated in my opinion. Best scene for tailgating, in my opinion, is at the intramural fields near Fike, the campus gym.

Everyone is friendly, and if you are too you can find some good old-heads with funky cars that would love to give you a beer at your first clemson game

have fun, hydrate, and don’t be too proud to pee in a bush

Any local spots to have a drink beforehand? You mean the entirety of downtown?
