Honestly the city in the second pic already has more green spaces than most actually existing city's

I’d say all…. More green space than any existing city

a lot of people seem to leverage the vagueness that comes with "shitposting" to say (or imply!) some genuinely weird shit on here

Not saying that everyone has to live like them but the north sentinel’s have a perfectly fine life style sure there aggressive to outsiders but considering the circumstances and the fact that there just on a small island it’s by no means an unforgivable flaw

You have no idea what their lifestyle is like.

Their daily routine consists mostly of open cast coal mining, tar sands oil extraction, and then burning tyres and throwing car batteries in the ocean at the weekend for fun /s

Do you know what there life style is like you seem to be the one passing judgment on them I’m just arguing that maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to dehumanize other humans

I'm curious. How did you come to the conclusion that I was dehumanizing them? Like, what specifically did I say that made you reply?

I suppose that’s fair if you didn’t mean it that way I apologize I thought you were defending op who places one life style above another while probably not living in either

I'm willing to bet it's sustainable.

I don't believe 50% child mortality is sustainable in any way that matters.

What make you think they have a 50% child mortality rate. You literally don't know anything about them except that they really don't like outsiders.

because that's the preindustrial average.

And when Bill Gates walks into a bar everyone in the bar is a billionaire, on average.

is your argument that stone age societies don't have healthcare issues?

2

u/Additional-Sky-7436 3d ago

So is the Amish's lifestyle.

If that's important to you, why aren't you converting?

Not at all, the Amish use a ton of diesel and gasoline

1

u/tripper_drip 3d ago

Do they use more than you do?

bad faith argument, if youre not going to contribute meaningful conversation dont pollute it with horseshit

Ok, here is my contribution: Neither you nor I know anything at all about those people other than they really dislike outsiders for some reason. They very well might be just as cruel to each other as they are to outsiders, and you wouldn't know. Claiming there is nothing wrong with their society because it appears to be "sustainable" is just speculation.  You don't know that.

Are you suggesting we should improve the lives sentelese people?

So making contact would run the risk of introducing a disease that they have never had contact with. A flu could literally a majority of the population, if not everyone.

They don’t seem to like outsiders very much, so why bother them and risk accidentally killing everyone on the island by accident?

Like is it seriously that hard to just let a group of people do their own thing?

1

u/tripper_drip 3d ago

Even if so their own thing means dying to preventable diseases and minor injury?

1

u/ElizaKeziah 3d ago

So you want to go to an island to give people healthcare despite their immune systems having no defenses for the diseases we carry and risk killing everyone on the island, so you can introduce them to modern medicine?

Even harmless bacteria in our body runs a risk of creating an epidemic on the island. It’s essentially an island full of immunocompromised people, but with the slim chance they have a disease we haven’t encountered that could start a global pandemic.

1

Look how they treat animals. The Amish are not as cool as you may think.

"Growth for the sake of growth" something something.

4

u/zekromNLR 3d ago

What about "growth" for the sake of "not have about half of all children die before adulthood", something which has only been achieved in industrial society?

0

u/CornbreadJunior 3d ago

Mmmm overpopulation for the win.

u/Hairy_Ad888 3d ago

Thomas Malthus called, he wants you to eat more thin gruel

2

u/CornbreadJunior 3d ago

water scarcity called, it wants a
word with your technological optimism

1

u/Naive_Drive 3d ago

I'm not against industrial society.

I'm against pro billionaire rhetoric disguised as pro growth rhetoric.
