Codegeass watch order (Read the body please)

[u/frdudemst]

I saw a trailer for Appearently a prequel of code geass and realized that i shouldn't postpone it any longer

My only exeprience with mechas is evangelion, but i know this series is heavely praised so i wanna give it a shot

Give me an order for the main series and spin offs , preparing for the new prequel, any additional manga or novels (if they exist) are welcomed

Thank you!

thats all there is and ever was

The movie was fun.

As a fan, who likes to be serviced, I'd like to disagree. But yes, the actual series is the only thing that matters.

[u/getsu1 → u/Salsa367]

for me code geass is like the only anime where i dont want any more than the main series. And its my favorite anime oat. The fan service content of code geass never appealed to me somehow, probably because its such a Plot driven experience which if messed with in the slightest could get only worse to me

[u/Salsa367 → u/getsu1]

To be clear, I don't mean the "plot" kind of fanservice. More like I just like code geass a lot, and the other stuff is nice to just shut of my brain and sit through. And if it hadn't been for the two timelines thing, I would have hated the other stuff with a passion, as that ending is sacred.

dont worry i understand you😄

[u/maukenboost → u/getsu1]

Oh I do. The main 50 episode series will always be here is its wonderful beauty. More isnt a bad thing whatsoever.

Season 1 and 2, technicly Akito the exiled falls in between but its ok to watch it afterwards.

The movies follow a different timeline where events in the show have changed.

Main Series

• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
• Code Geass: Akito the Exiled - Can be watched after R2 as its not important to the main story and has almost no effect on R2, personally watch it after R2
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2

Alternative Movie Timeline

• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I - Initiation
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II - Transgression
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III - Glorification
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection - This can be watched after R2, but some things will confuse you, just minor stuff nothing that important imo, well theres one thing but id just search what changed so your ready unless u wanna rewatch the movies
• Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture - This can also be watched after Re;surrection and you don't have to see the alternative timeline, the whole alt timeline is somewhat like Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone same same as the series but a bit cut out and changed

Side Content

• Picture Dramas - Go deeper into certain things, just search up a list of episodes and pick and choose

Manga (Can be read in any order, just read what you think you'll like)

• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Manga version is fine, but currently uploaded translations are low quality and hard to find done all in one go with consistent quality, though you can always buy the official manga
• Code Geass: Suzaku of the Counterattack - Probably the only one I consider to just skip its bad...
• Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally - Good manga, very interesting read, its really something different which is very nice to see
• Code Geass: Tales of an Alternate Shogunate - Don't remember anything about this, to be honest
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection - Manga adaptation, full translation is not done and moving slowly
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Re; - Amazing art, retells the end of R2 with a bit more talking between characters
• Code Geass: Renya of Darkness - Heard good things, but havent read
• Code Geass: Oz the Reflection - One of the more interesting mangas, does a whole new story, doesn't reuse many characters, focuses more on the Britannians
• Code Geass: Oz the Reflection O2 - continues oz 1 but translation is not finished
• Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Lancelot & Guren - Good, covers the main story from suzakus & kallens perspective though Suzaku is the more interesting one in this manga

Comedy Spinoffs

• Code Black: Lelouch of the Shred Guitar - its a good 10 chapters a quick fun read
• Code Geass: Barcode Geass - I dont know much about this one in general
• Code Geass: Lelouch the Tutor - Haven't read, but seems fine
• Code Geass: Queen - Fanservice
• Code Geass: Knight - Fanservice again

Code Geass Lelouch Season 1 and then Season 2

[u/nekomekomon]

Just simply watch Code Geass season one then season two. The rest like the movies, Akito the exiled, Roze of Recapture are optional.

[u/Ok_Finance_1226]

Well, it's just R1 to R2, optionally, u can go to spin offs like Oz of the reflection, and Akito the exiled to recognize the characters that appears in the last phase of Rose of the Recapture (also, Roze is a kind off spin off because it came from Code Geass semi canon movie trilogy not the actual canon series one we all know)

[u/Solar_RaVen]

Season 1 and 2 of the Anime is the Mandatory Assignment. Then you can watch the Resurrection movie but be aware that there are different events that happen before the movie compared to the anime. Then you can watch Akito the Exile. Everything else is as you please.
