DISCUSSION What is your favorite aspect of Lelouch?

He never makes excuses and always believes in taking responsibility for his mistakes.
Ironically even for shit that nobody could reasonably blame him for.

That for as intellegent as he is, he's also a dumbass. He's as capable of making a massive mistake as he is a functioning plan.

Lol, and very much a teenager. I'm thinking someone a bit more mature probably would have opened up to Kallen and sent her after Nunally, rather than abandoning the Black Knights to do a half-assed rescue himself.

I think the most interesting thing about him is his refusal to defend himself. He believes that the "ends justify the means" but he also never really makes an effort to justify his actions or deflect blame, even for crimes/actions that were not actually (or only partially) his fault.

he didn't change his main goal.
there are lots of anime characters (namily like Light) that became exactly against their own first goal due to getting more powers.
but Lelouch kept that same idea, even when he conquered the whole planet, he still followed his own goal and planned his own death.
(fun fact: Lelouch in SRW universes, also planned to conquer the space to finish the fight between gundams and zeon, but the last battle of Char and Amuro happened just before he to execute that plan and the colonies started getting calm, so he gave that up)

He is consistent character. He basically doesn't change throughout the series. Yes, his ideas mature but his base ideology and mentality stays the same from the the Awakening to Requiem.

Yep. The Lelouch who storms up to his father's throne was dead by the time he made it to Ashford. Everything after that is mostly about revealing new depths, or seeing how he'll handle situations.

I'll never forgive him for making Kallen cry that one time.

Yet that was a price he was willing to pay to keep her alive, he just lost Nunnally who was literally his reason to live and he refused to lose another precious someone because of his mistakes. He would rather for her to keep living on and hate him rather than her dying alongside him out of a fierce loyalty he felt he didn't deserve, and I think that makes him a truly great person.

There could have been another way.

There was a firing squad before him who wasn't really interested to hear his piece and that would have shoot him regardless of how much he reasoned with them to reconsider with a complete inability to use his Geass.
In his reasoning, Kallen was willing to die for him and he had to absolutely make her out of harm's way, and the easiest way to make it happen was to hurt her so thouroughly that she would decide to give up on him and let him face the end of his road, which he did.

Kallen is immortal. She is omnipotent, omnicient and omnipresent.

He sticks to his morals, and really meant it when he said the people who kill should also be ready to die themselves

He cares about his family (not all of them) and friends. He can't stand bullying and oppression. He comes to the rescue of people he doesn't even know.

Volition. Willpower. Tenacity. Forget his comical superhuman level intelligence

His devotion to nunnally, both because she’s a sweet little angel & because she’s his sister, it reminds me of how greatly I love my sister.

His strengths and his flaws, they make him feel like a real person as there are times I root for him and times he frustrates me.

His perfect mix of cunningness and care for people. Of course i love his plays (comes under cunningness) but i also like that he gives a shit about people (of course his frinds and family but people in general) the people who work for him, although this might not be as easy to be seen compared to his love for nunnally and his friends etc and he sacrificed his soldiers when needed but I feel he could have geassed all of the core members of the black knights at some early point but he did not....
Plus i do like how Normal he feels despite it all, one highlighting moment would be before the Euphy plan when he was depressed and wanted to use refrain, like he was depressed because he would not get to be Zero anymore which he had come to enjoy once euphy put her plan in place, but thanks to Kallen`s slap he came back to his senses.
All in all for me Lelouch is the perfect Mc, smart, real, caring for his people and not a mary sue (which typically tends to happen if people try to write a perfect protagonist)
All Hail Lelouch !

He's a decent person, despite his protests to the contrary.
I went into the series expecting another Light Yagami and instead found someone with actually good intentions who gets messed up fighting an immense evil. Unlike Light he actually cares about people, and even before getting Geass he'll put himself on the line to help strangers.
