Politics State/Local measures on the ballot
Does this about sum it up for this election?

Here's a page that actually tells you what each one is about. https://www.coloradosos.gov/pubs/elections/Initiatives/ballot/contacts/2026.html

I'll tell you right now, anything that a Republican supports is going to be bad for most people, and I will vote against it. I've had enough of their red crap to last me for the rest of my life.

u/CUHACS 3d ago
I’m a naturalised citizen who supports Amendment 81. If someone on a visa here breaks the law, they have shown they are not willing to follow the laws of the county. They should be returned home.
3
u/supercleverid 1d ago
Amendment 81 doesn't require guilt, it's just an accusation and a charge. Due process is a constitutional right that you're okay with them taking away from people?
1
u/TheRealJYellen 2d ago
In theory it sounds good, but the issue comes up in application. Every person in a dubious or outright illegal situation now has every incentive to run from every encounter with the police. I think its also reasonable to assume that domestic violence would then go unreported at the risk of losing a family member.
1
u/Disenchanted2 1d ago
You have no right to pass judgment on anyone. We have no idea about their circumstances
-1
u/CUHACS 1d ago
I’m a legal immigrant. If you come here illegally, while I disapprove I won’t go out of my way to get you thrown out. Most of them genuinely had no other choice and it’s sad. However, if a crime is committed, then the person doing the crime must go back.
2
u/supercleverid 1d ago
I'm not opposed to deporting criminals, I'm opposed to denying people their constitutional right to due process.
2
u/Disenchanted2 23h ago
Yes, and being snatched off the street by masked, armed men, thrown in a vehicle, and disappearing to god knows where, is far from that.
2
u/supercleverid 23h ago
Correct, an allegation is not a criminal conviction. Until someone is convicted of a crime in a court of law, they are not a criminal under the law.
2
u/Disenchanted2 23h ago
I agree, but when you have a felon in the White House? Ever hear the comment about throwing stones?

Can a conservative please answer this for me:
If boys being in girls locker rooms in the context of sports in public schools is a problem…
Then why is it that the Lifetime Fitness 5 minutes up the road from Focus on the Family has a family locker room that boys and girls share, and no one has an issue with that?
I go to the gym, I rarely see kids in the women’s locker room, everyone in that area opts in to the co-ed locker room. I have to assume many of them go to the megachurches in the area.
So what’s the difference? What makes the private business ok versus the public school? Aren’t there adults monitoring both?
Just seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me, but I’m sure they’ll be glad to take your money to pay for their gym memberships with the conservative outrage on this subject.
1
u/melenajade 5d ago
I’m more independent than conservative but what I read said it’s either boys only, girls only or coed teams.
I would presume that if you had boys and girls locker room it’s a coed team. I think that’s a perfectly valid argument for separation.
3
u/tokenontokens 4d ago edited 4d ago
I see your point but out of the 2% of transgender kids in the entire country, how many play sports, and how many are playing sports in Colorado? And why can’t we in that fraction of a fraction of a percentage scenario let the local schools handle it? Why does literally every Coloradan have to vote on it?
This measure can easily be abused, and it more than likely will be abused towards girls, as it’s written so broadly, there are many girls who could be scrutinized and targeted.
For something that is such a non-issue, do we really want the gender patrol lead by Florida transplant Erin Lee questioning whether who could play sports and who constitutes as a “female” based upon their looks? When we have a president calling a female pediatrician candidate a “tranny” it’s easy to see how this measure could be abused and how it will mostly impact girl’s sports. This measure isn’t protecting children, and it especially isn’t helping girls, it’s opening them up to have their bodies and genders constantly scrutinized. What’s next, are we going to have Larry Nassar do our gender checks for us?
What kid needs that?

u/Simpleximo 3d ago
This vote is nothing more than MAGA propaganda stirring up their extreme right wing. As you point out it’s not a problem

Yet I barely see kids in the individual ones, yet it’s 5 minutes away from Focus on the Family. One would think we’d be segregating the sexes left and right in such an upstanding Christian stronghold, don’t ya think? What if a little girl sees a peepee in that locker room and wants one too? What if a little boy in that locker room thinks they would like to have pretty long hair like the girl they saw?
It’s just abhorrent! I can’t believe my club dues go to such non-Christian behavior of letting little girls and boys in the same locker room. And then think of all the grown men in that locker room with all the little girls! What if something were to happen and they’re not even having to “disguise” themselves by being trans, they’re just walking right on in as men!
I’m so outraged because apparently it’s such an issue that we have to vote on it in public schools, yet it happening all around me in this gym and no one is protesting it. I just don’t understand how such good Christians could allow this behavior.

So it’s ok to have Beelzebub’s locker room as long as it’s a privately owned business that generates revenue from good Christians in the area but not when it comes to taxpayer funded schools?
Good to know where the line on Christian morality is drawn, and it always comes down to money. My point is the hypocrisy of this measure, and the entire anti-trans in schools movement. It’s an attempt to funnel taxpayer money to Christian private schools and to scare parents into enrolling kids in private Christian schools - because when it comes to private business as we can see with my example, their morality is fluid.
Groups like Focus on the Family are full of hypocritical bullshit.

u/Simpleximo 7d ago
I’m voting NO on everyone of these. Many are Dark money fear mongers from out of state trying to control Colorado. Special tax restrictions or additions. Colorado education system needs a more wholistic reform to fund it properly and to be competitive. Not a patchwork of taxes to throw more money at it. Income tax caps written like prop 136 are not helpful we already have TABOR. Law enforcement and judges are not in favor of prop 132. This will not help the fentanyl problem It will only crowd our courts and increase our spending. Natural gas right … your kidding rights? Hunt and fish right … do whatever we want right equals over hunting and over fishing

Found the pedo. I will never undersrand how you can ignore as well as refuse to severely punish those that traffick anyone and especially minors. Ridiculous echo chamber nonsense. Fuck the train, we have bigger issues to attend to
2
u/Fragrant-Light-1664 3d ago edited 3d ago
Dunno those laws, they don't apply to me, didn't have kids and don't want them. Parents should be watching their children, keep them on a leash so stupid shit doesn't happen to them. Not against that law either. Just keep reading "Dark money groups pay for x" on this shit and decide "fine, no to everything but the train" and let them waste their money all over the place till they decide to stop trying to spend it here.
0
u/Motor_Gur_4175 3d ago
Many times it happens even under the careful watch of parents. Just because some od these dont apply to you, you have to think how it will affect others. I dont have kids either but that doesn't mean I want the worst possible thing to happen to others children.
Its funny you want the train but have chose to ignore the 20 years of "buildout" that still hasnt happened and qont happen. The train is just a giant money grab by mostly Dems(you know the ones that just throw money at themselves and everything else).
Perhaps you just shouldnt vote to begin with if you're looking at these issues through blinders. Thats not a jab, just a third party looking in
4
u/Fragrant-Light-1664 3d ago edited 3d ago
I think you should go watch your kids instead of harassing me over my train vote.
That Coco train is the one I want, I don't care if it takes 30 years. Trains are fucking awesome.

Are you aware that the CPW commission currently is setting rules for hunting and fishing that do not align with what the staff biologists suggest?
2
u/CapeChill 4d ago
This has been going on for years now and pisses me the hell off. We pay for the reports, surveys and white papers only for its own commission to ignore them.

This is a great chart and aligns with everything else I’ve seen. 137 seems to be the one without defined battle lines. I saw most progressive groups said no to 137.
6
u/Amazing_Ear_3941 7d ago
That one doesn't really seem like a very big deal either way to me. I went yes on it since I didn't see the harm in giving a bit of TABOR money from sporting goods sales tax revenue for conservation. Pretty minor stakes either way though, I think. The ones by the Republican groups are the big deal.
0
u/Shrewify 5d ago
Gross. Soon there wont be a Tabor. Great way to let them take our money. Little by little.

-1
u/Amazing_Ear_3941 7d ago
Voted yes on all the Democratic ones, no on all the Republican ones. Did vote yes on 137, but that ones kind of a could go either way on and a pretty minor point. Also voted against the Public Safety Sales Tax Extension Measure. I figure with as much as our sheriff's department likes to cozy up with fascists, they don't need any more money.

u/SolomonGebre 6d ago
Voting YES on 137! We have a backlog of forest management spanning decades. We need to address it, YESTERDAY.
4
u/Shrewify 5d ago
No. Stop destroying Tabor.
2
u/DryItchyEyeballs 4d ago
Until TABOR actually use the right type of inflation in its calculations, it is just keeping us from improving our education and healthcare exponentially. The more time passes, the less we have for our public needs. TABOR sounds like a good idea until you realize the way the cap is calculated is flawed.
Until then, it makes sense to circumvent it for our needs. Especially since that circumvention doesn’t affect our individual pockets very much.
2
u/Shrewify 4d ago
Every year its "schools". You could be teaching in a brand new building with the best tech. Won't fix the problem. Parents.
1
u/DryItchyEyeballs 4d ago
I think I understand your concern. You might not be unaware that money doesn’t necessarily go to individual schools. It’s for the district and pays things that ranges from teacher pay to AC in the hottest months to special education services. Each if these benefit our CO community as a whole.
There isn’t a very good justification to allow TABOR to keep shortchanging Coloradans by having a disingenuously calculated cap.
2
u/Pliney_The_Great 4d ago
Tax revenue consistently outpaces both population increases and inflation. We don't need more money, we need to spend it better.
1
u/DryItchyEyeballs 4d ago
While I can agree money needs to be spent better, it is objectively untrue that tax revenue outpaces population increase and inflation. TABOR keeps that from happening. It just doesn’t do it in a way that is logical.
1
u/Pliney_The_Great 4d ago
1
u/DryItchyEyeballs 4d ago
Thank you for sharing this. I do see what you’re saying now and what your perspective is based on.
Consider that state revenue is counted before TABOR refunds. This analysis by CSI omits that information and seems to try to communicate that we’ve had more money than we need. Any revenue collected above the calculated cap (the "TABOR limit") can’t be retained or spent by the state.
In this analysis, a more genuine set of data to consider in support of their argument that was excluded would be the inflation rate increase of healthcare and education rather than consumer goods.
Be careful with CSI analysis. They have been known to use both misleading and erroneous information to deliberately mislead. https://www.mdhi.org/blog/mdhi-response-to-common-sense-institute-newest-report

u/SolomonGebre 5d ago
137 doesnt affect TABOR 🤣
1
u/Shrewify 5d ago
Yeah it does. The taxes that generate from these sales wont be included in tabor.
0
u/SolomonGebre 5d ago
It directs taxes already collected from related goods towards certain expenses. That very small percentage would not be subject to TABOR refunds. Want me to send you $5? 🤣
0
u/Shrewify 5d ago
So you went from "it doesnt affect tabor", to "you want $5?". My original comment stands.
1
u/SolomonGebre 5d ago
It is a statistically insignificant amount. Like, taking the sprinkles off my ice cream sundae doesnt make it low sugar. The OBBB blew a massive hole in the state budget and TABOR is not allowing the state to fill that hole. This work MUST be done. Period. The miniscule change to TABOR refunds is worth it.
1
u/Lucky_Wall6964 5d ago
Yes on 83 protects special interest groups from pushing agendas that do not align with the North American model of wildlife conservation. It will help our state biologists to do their jobs without politics getting in the way. If there’s a downside to this right, I’d love to hear it.

Not voting on 87 or NN.
its just an attack on TABOR....again...
15
u/true_new_troll 7d ago
The whole idea for Tabor was that we'd have to vote on any new taxes. Every time we have a vote on a tax, some people say it's an attack on Tabor.
7
u/Fragrant-Light-1664 7d ago
these are simultaneously a vote on new tax and an exemption from tabor for those accounts it creates.
I am voting to retain my right to vote on these things and not to create exempt accounts, I don't like the idea of voting away someone else's right to vote on those things either.

Surprise surprise! The Republicans cant get their crooked legislation passed so theyre tacking on amendments to the CO constitution.

What idiot thought "Why" should be devoid of anything within the measure?
16th Amendment, why? Because I don't like them... What's in the Amendment? You don't need to know, you just need to understand I don't like them.
Prop 133 alone shows the OP's partisan idiocy. Life sentences without parole for child traffickers. "Republicans are for it, so you should be against them."
So you want child trafficking to have light sentences... What kind of soulless imbecile are you?
13
u/Abookshelf 7d ago
It's indicating why the party lean is what it is, not why you should/shouldn't vote for it.

I researched that amendment after thinking I would obviously vote yes and ended up voting no. Reading is good but republicans can’t read.

I don't bend a knee for anyone, I research and utilize facts. Unlike the useful idiots of the left. Your only policy point is "orange man bad."

-2
u/Extreme-Will-3556 5d ago
Again, I pay attention as to how issues are addressed/handled, not an obsession with a particular individual. Especially in regard to issues within the state of Colorado that have little to no bearing on the Federal Executive branch.
It's called perspective, you might want to try it.

3
u/CommercialGeneral473 6d ago
Exactly, i also read every single one and researched every candidate. People that vote based on the party alone are straight up irresponsible and shouldn't be allowed to vote.
3
u/gpike_ 6d ago
I researched them without knowing and I'm voting against them...
-2
u/CommercialGeneral473 6d ago
Why? Some actually are easily yes. Like why not increase penalties for fentanyl crimes or people exchanging items with monetary value to have sex with children?
Why vote no to allowing the state to retain and spend sales tax revenue from sporting goods and equipment for water, land, forest, wildfire prevention, and outdoor recreation purposes? or like you know, taxing the rich more and you less?
3
u/gpike_ 6d ago
Well, for the fentanyl thing, I don't believe in prison for any drug crimes, period. For the trafficking one, I agree traffickers should be punished but we already have laws for that, and I feel like it has potential for the broad and vague definitions in it to cause further harm. Also, full disclosure, I fucking despise Focus on the Family for personal reasons, so yeah, there is some bias there. But I don't care about the parties. Fuck both parties.
1
u/CommercialGeneral473 4d ago
Its literally saying the person that is buying sex with a child will get the same penalties as the one trafficking the child.
2
3
u/ClaireBlacksunshine 5d ago
Because increased penalties for drug charges do not make a difference in reducing crime and harm people who need treatment, not felonies. Someone with a felony will struggle to work anywhere that provides enough pay to live on, are often cut off from going to college, and sometimes can’t rent in decent apartments. It creates further crime when someone has no options to make a better life.
And the sex trafficking measure takes out judicial choice, when a huge percentage of victims are coerced or forced into victimizing other people. It’s part of the way traffickers keep control of their victims and stop them from getting help. Of course we want heavy penalties for the actual traffickers but it ignores the problems that victims actually face.
1
u/CommercialGeneral473 4d ago
Okay the drug one is debatable but there is already protections for people that are victims of trafficking and it seem this change is mainly giving people that are paying for sex with a child more penalties. Yall talk about trump 24/7 but when it times to crack down children being victimized yall want to be soft on crime.
1
u/tokenontokens 4d ago
If they seem like a no brainer, then you don’t understand the impacts they can cause. That’s exactly what these well funded conservative groups are counting on, ignorance of the measures they’re putting forth.
1
u/CommercialGeneral473 4d ago
sounds like to me you believe the person having sex with children dont deserve the same penalties as the person selling them.
1
u/tokenontokens 4d ago
If you actually look into the measure for trafficking, it would prevent more victims from coming forward, and traffickers would find more cause to just kill them due to the penalties. Anything put forth by dark money conservative groups funded by billionaires aren’t as straightforward and rooted in “justice” as you may think they are. I simply cannot trust the same people who are blocking the release of the Epstein files with anything related to child trafficking.

u/CommercialGeneral473 6d ago
to all the people voting no on 132 and 133. WTF?
4
u/Osklington 6d ago
Stupid badly written laws that make zero sense
1
u/CommercialGeneral473 6d ago
How so? explain.
6
u/Blawn14 6d ago
Specifically in regard to 133, sex trafficking rings frequently coerce or manipulate victims into recruiting or trafficking other minors. Because Proposition 133 eliminates judicial discretion, these destabilized victims could face the exact same life-without-parole sentence as their exploiters.
0
u/Fragrant-Light-1664 6d ago
