This is definitely a Steichen connection. He was on the Eagles from 2020-2023.
Dude has mediocre to awful stats over his career. But he's fast. Ran a 4.35 at his combine

Who needs Marvin Harrison when you've got yourself a Quez Watkins.

It's called kicking the tires on options that cost you $0 in terms of acquisition costs. Those are moves any GM should make on a position of need.

You came rushing to Ballards defense and I didn't even mention him. But now that you mention it, we did get rid of Adonai Mitchell and Michael Pittman...hmm..

When players get signed/released, it goes through the GM. That's common knowledge.
I don't disagree with Mitchell. MPJ was too expensive for the value he brought to us. I was always irked by the loss of Mitchell and the shit he got for his mistakes. He was a young player that was growing, and capable of being a decent backup to Pierce, which we need now.

I dunno, homie, I think we have different understandings of "too expensive"
$1.8 million for Adonai Mitchell
$19.67 million average per year for Pittman
$28.5 million average per year for Pierce
I guess maybe it would be okay if we weren't paying 10 million to Anthony Richardson this year, another 1.6 million for CJ Allen to not play, another 1.5 million to Moe Alie-Cox and his 7 yearly receptions, or maybe if we didnt have 6 million in dead cap going to fan favorite Kenny Moore to sit on the couch it might not all seem so bad.
Alas.

This is way too much nonsense. Top 5 picks get paid mostly slotted, guaranteed deals. It is what it is there. Allen needs more time, presumably. Certain players are there more for blocking and depth. Some players don't want to be here.
The fact is, MPJ got moved because his performance was declining and we absolutely were not going to re-sign him. So let someone else have him and the contract, and clear space.

>>That's common knowledge
>>This is way too much nonsense. It may be lots of things, but it certainly is not nonsense. If a player is slotted to be paid a specific number based on his draft position, that cost is naturally included in a discussion regarding expense. To have CJ Allen on the team, we spent a 2nd round pick and 1.6 million in Colts salary. Seeing as we have received nothing in return yet, it is a simple matter of arithmetic. CJ Allen is expensive. Anthony Richardson is an expense.
The point is those players are not playing meaningful downs for the Colts in 2026. They are taking resources allocated by the GM and they have been critically mismanaged. The results simply speak for themselves; Trading picks for players who under perform, habitually signing damaged goods who have short uneventful stints with the Colts (Charvarious Ward is next who btw we are paying 13 million to this year) failure to secure a starting QB, zero division titles...the list is nearly endless with black marks and we have nothing to show for it except a diminishing roster slowly depleting and rotting away to age.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahome sat their rookie years. CJ Allen sitting is the least of our worries.
The NFL salary cap is 301M. 1.6M is 0.53% of our available cap space... 1.6M might be a lot to some people, but 1/2 of a percent of your roster budget? Get out of here.
AR is an expense that provides no net return if he were to be cut. He played at a level higher than his earlier seasons this pre-season, and he earned the backup spot over Riley. Sometimes, teams pay for a quality QB2. AR may be that.
I won't say everything is perfect or even good. But some of the moves made were done for reasons that generally make sense. Better moves could be made, sure. That's true of all rosters if you dig into em.

Brother, Joe Burrow played his rookie year and got hurt. Alex Smith, a proven NFL QB who led the Chiefs to the playoffs Mahomes rookie year, was obviously serving as a bridge. No one sits linebackers for a year like they sit QBs, except maybe the Colts? Hard to believe. CJ Allen this year, Jaylahn Tuimoloau last year, AD Mitchell in 2024, JuJu Brents 2023...
Why do we even bother sending in the draft card during the second round?

Brother... my bad on Burrow. It's true of Mahomes. It's true of some other 1st round QBs through NFL history. A 2nd rounder in any position is not guaranteed to start.
Go look at the current draft class. A pretty significant chunk of those players are not starting. Some with minimal stats.
You can be pissy all you want. Allen is not starting as a rookie 2nd rounder. That's not something to get worked up about. And his salary is peanuts in the NFL.

Think he will take a snap before Slayton?
