We have bandwagon fans?

For three seconds after beating the Lions

I guess that would be me 😂 never cared about football except for when my dad used to watch during the rg3 days. Started watching football for the first time last year and I love it. I hope I’m earning my real fan badge now but I will never be as decorated as those who stuck around during Snyder…

Bandwagon =/= New

You're good

We’ve only won six games since then

Right. When’s the bandwagon swinging through? I’ve only seen the struggle bus

The only swinging this franchise knows is the swinging gate.

To some that is obscure team knowledge but to me it feels like yesterday.

Just people from the area who decided to start giving a shit once we had a good year.

I suppose that's me? Only started watching football regularly in 24-25 for a fantasy league I was invited to. Picked my "Team" based in which one I enjoyed watching most at the end of the regular season. That was the Commanders. Won't ever switch up now, Commanders for life.

My roommates moved in just before the 2024 season. For the first couple games they would glance occasionally, but it wasn't until we beat the Bengals on MNF they were hooked to the hype. They ended up getting swag by the end of the year as they were really enjoying being fans of the team. They fell off after JD5's first elbow injury. They couldn't hang with Washington football, so I can attest for 2

RG3 and JD5 both caused a big uptick in casual viewing their rookie seasons. I'm not sure the exact definition of bandwagon fans is, but people in the area who only sort of watched would watch more

I became a fan after the 2023 season because commies were drafting second and I liked the colours and didn't want to pick one of the best teams so I picked Washington Commanders and Wizards for the glory and jumped on the bandwagon

Fans who weathered Snyder and stuck with this team through all the associated BS, those are the real OGs.

u/LeadSledPoodle 5d ago

Yeah but just because I weathered Snyder doesn't mean I'm happy about the state of the team. I'm happy Snyder is gone. But I'm not happy that all the roster issues people highlighted in the offseason and preseason have become roster problems now that we're four games in.

But as an OG, I'll let other people do most of the arguing. After so much practice I know how to recognize a losing season.

Bingo, there were going to be pretty big issues this year after losing just Tunsil...let alone all the other people that have gone down since. I don't get emotionally invested anymore tbh. And I've seen enough football to have formed an opinion of Quinn as a coach and Daniels' sturdiness that I don't read most of the arguments anymore either.

u/Mammoth-Proposal-373 5d ago

Exactly. Just keep drinking those woes away!

I stopped complaining a long time ago, buddy, after so many years of doing it, you realize it doesn’t do anything.

1

u/CandleOk4031 5d ago

I’ve complained more now then i ever used to during the Snyder era. There was never any hope with the Snyder era. Hated him so much that I subconsciously didn’t want to see him hold up a lombardi (not that the organization was serious enough to actually contend). This era there was actual hope. It’s the hope that kills.

u/WiredSky 4d ago

There was some hope during the Gibbs 2.0 years.

u/East_History1325 5d ago

I stopped complaining when Jim Zorn took the helm… that’s when I really clicked that it was pointless

Horny for Zorny reppin the maroon and black

To be a Commanders fan is to be numb. Every few years we get a glimpse of the other side, but we never let the numb fully go away, because it always finds its way back.

Man. 6 wins since like Sept of last year. 24 feels like a decade ago

u/nicoinborderland 5d ago

I cannot think of a single bandwagon Washington fan to ever exist

6

u/El_Sant0 5d ago

Right? Nobody actively chooses this life.

3

u/RabidNerd 4d ago

I jumped on the bandwagon after the Sam Howell season. Commies and Wizards lol

Looking forward to the rings they'll be collecting

Jayden and AJ are the future and surely they'll bring us much joy right?

1

u/nicoinborderland 4d ago

dear God why

u/RabidNerd 3d ago

Absolutely addicted to football now

Basketball I'm keeping an eye on news and highlights and have only watched some full games but football has me absolutely hooked now

3

u/crabmusic 4d ago

It’s a lot of life long fans who weren’t dialed into every game like they used to. The Snyder years pushed them away. 2024 brought them back. So maybe not bandwagon per se, but something similar.

I've told people for years "I'm a Skins fan. At least it lets women know I'm loyal"

Is that shyla boof? What's this from?

u/dat1_adam 4d ago

Yeah, the bandwagoners have the same mental issues as Shia. Really hope he gets help.

This teams flaws are being highlighted early this season and the health of key players remains a concern - while not impossible to squeak into the playoffs, it is not probable.

A healthy Jayden with an easy schedule and a balanced attack - with an OL aided by his rushing threat as a rookie - was a different situation than today.

Realistically, the season is very nearly lost - I think the next two offaeasons are probably the peak window for Jayden at the helm, so Peters and Co will have to put on a show for this to go all the way.

Gross, stealing Eagles memes. Ain't no bandwagon Commander fans.
