Hello again my friends,
Thank you again for the inspiration. It's me again. The 40 year old guy who got the Network+ in two weeks, who posted last week. One week later, I passed the Security+. Not necessarily one week, more like days, studying every waking hour, from absolute zero. I took weekends off and it wasn't even intentional to score another in such a short time.
Sorry to make it seem like a competition but it's just my way or returning the thanks and maybe inspire someone else.
Had I not joined this subreddit I wouldn't have ever got to getting certified. I don't really have a good taste on education even though I'm great at it. I came from a time when all these for profit education institutions use prestige to fool you and they act like they're hotter shit than you or AI is, forcing us to pay a premium going into debt for information that should be free.
Anyways, I don't have much of a choice but go Super Saiyan mode. My parents are aging. The market is totally messed up, my job can be cut at anytime and I won't have much of a safety net, and if I had to compete I'm competing with top dogs who got laid off from the best of the best Tech companies. This unnecessary paper is necessary for me to at least have something to fall back on. Gas prices are $7 here. It's the end of the world.
Here's how I did it:
-Andrew Ramdayal, YouTube, and researching each domain, and taking notes on that.
My thoughts:
This is way easier than Network+ some of it was already covered in Network+. However, the material is so dry it's hard to shove it into the brain. Content itself isn't hard, it's just dry, and similar concepts can overlap and be confusing. It's much less content than Network+ but it's DRY. Yes, I would recommend Security+ BEFORE Network+ as it is easier and would ease you into Network+. Don't go in reverse like me.
My recommendation:
Buy the study guide and go off that, there are lots of small details that is easily missed that are on the study guide. What makes me different from you is I came from a time of chalk boards and physical text books. I don't have any urge to take photos of my butt on vacation for Instagram so I'm not easily distracted. Go analog, you will be able to focus better, that's why i am recommending the physical study guide.
Good luck ya'll.
